    Good day Soap School, i admire your craft very much....seems so effortless . I have an issue, i made about 60 aloe vera soaps for a little sale, as a beginner. My issue is, it called for 16oz lye and 37oz liquid. I froze 27oz of aloe puree for the lye and kept back 10oz of puree (without lye combined) to pour in at lite trace.....was i wrong in doing that?? People's faces are burning from my soap, I'm disheartened. Thank you

    • @SoapSchoolUK

      You could absolutely switch to a palm free recipe but you cannot simply switch something in the recipe. Each oil requires a different amount of sodium hydroxide to transform it into soap, the amounts would need to be recalculated.

    Helloo, thank you for sharing your recipe :)
    I made this soap on Monday but unfortunately it’s not yet hardened. I used silicone moulds and the measurements were exact. I have a cardboard on top of the mound and wrapped it in a towel. Does it normally take more than a few days for the soap to harden? This was my 1st time making soap so I’m a little sad

      Hi, If you poured it into single bars there will not be enough mass to create a gel and so your soap bars will remain soft for much longer. Pop the mould into the freezer to get the bars out, then allow them to dry. They will harden but it will just take longer

      Ok thanks for replying. When I take them out of the freezer, won’t they defrost and get back to liquid ? Just afraid / sorry for the newbie questions

      SN they should not be a liquid even now. if they reached trace and thickened before going in the moulds they will just be softer than usual in single bars. If they are liquid soft then it may be your scales were not weighing right or you perhaps didn’t reach trace

    I am not sure about using fresh produce to make soap, once I made a carrot juice soap and it got DOS quite soon, does any one else have had the same problem?

    • @SoapSchoolUK
      @SoapSchoolUK  6 років тому

      Hi Mellasone, I have never had DOS from Carrot juice. DOS is usually related to oil excess and rancidity of oils. If you are having DOS issues, I would check the superfat level or possibly start using an antioxidant

      @@SoapSchoolUK thanks for your reply. I have been making soaps for a few years, I have some soaps made 8 years ago and they are DOS free smelling great still, the only time I've ever had DOS was with the carrot juice that's why I thought it might have been the juice, anyway I think I will give another try with fresh produce and see what happens. thank you again

    That looks so beautiful. How has the colour held up with curing? Has it discoloured at all?

      Thank you for answering. :) I've not had much luck keeping soaps with natural green colouring to stay green. I will be trying this recipe out in the next few days. Love your channel.

      I've used spirulina powder in a batch and kept the soap in a dark place but it still went a pale orange colour after a couple of days. It works well in salt cakes though. I think i'll add in some green clay too when I give this soap a go.

      Sarah Janes Strong aroma is putting it nicely, I think it smells revolting! :D Thank you for the advice, it's much appreciated.

    Does food in soap make it go bad fast?

    • @SoapSchoolUK
      @SoapSchoolUK  5 років тому

      Not if you use just the juice or really pureed fruits. If you leave wet food chunks in they will rot like anything in llfe.

    Hi! Will the process be same if I am using a readymade soap base? Thanks for all your videos 😊

    • @SoapSchoolUK
      @SoapSchoolUK  4 роки тому +1

      No, this process is for making soap from scratch :)

      Thank you for your prompt response 👍 can you share the process with readymade soapbase please

    • @SoapSchoolUK
      @SoapSchoolUK  4 роки тому +1

      @@poushalidatta1441 I would not personally be adding it to a ready-made soap base as adding purees, fruits and fresh ingredients will not be saponified into the soap which could result in bacterial and growth issues in the soap base.
