Yes, I've followed her for a while have thanked her on yt comments several times for her sincere comments and general curiosity about our world. I especially appreciate her allowing us to "go with her" to the European cemeteries. Places that I will probably never get to visit. She is so reverent and respectful when visiting these hallowed allied burial grounds. Can't praise this young lady enough. She is the proverbial salt of the earth.

Marie…you made it to Missouri! I live in St. Louis. Was in Herman long ago on a school trip. Trivia…while training as an EMT met a friend who is a wine enthusiast. He told the class about some of the Stone Hill wines. But what grabbed me was when he spoke about a root bug or fungus that in the 1800s hit Frances vines. Not sure if nationwide or Champagne. Or Burgundy. Anyway the virologists searched all over for a cure or resistant vine. It was found in Herman, with help from the Missouri Botanical Gardens in St. Louis. The French grafted the Missouri vines to theirs in an experiment….the vines DEFEATED the blight. So Missouri had a role in saving world class French wines. As France played a key role in founding St. Louis, New Orleans and the Louisiana Territory…which Napoleon sold to the USA in 1803 for something like $12M. Hope you had a great visit. Come again!🇺🇸🇫🇷

Bonjour Marie! Funny thing, we have a German (Bavarian) town herein Michigan called Frankenmuth. It is famous for having the world's largest year round Christmas store (Bronner's,) Chicken dinners at Zehnder's and The Bavarian Inn, craft beers, and the internationally famous rock band Greta Van Fleet. Always fun to see a different country/culture smack dab in the middle of a "typical American area." Also in my area, there is a food truck that does German food and whenever I see them at one of my favorite places, i go and get some of their awesome selections. Thank you for sharing! I hope that you are doing very well. Bonne journee! ~Be Blessed

I'm enjoying your travels. When traveling I often stop at small town museums. Usually empty so the curator is friendly. Lots of silly stuff with occasional amazing exhibits.
So many people are in a hurry to get to the destination. Get off the interstate and travel two lane roads. Stop, smell the roses, pet the dogs, have an ice cream.

You were in my neck of the woods?! I grew up on a farm a few miles north of Hermann and have visited many of the nearby wineries. If you ever come to Hermann in October, don't show up on weekends (it's a madhouse). I much prefer the relaxed atmosphere of Wurstfest with a tasty dark Hefeweizen. Sorry i missed the opportunity to meet you. Safe travels! 🛫

    Wunderbar Marie 😃 🏫 🥂
Such a Charming Picture book Town with a pretty clock tower , looks perfect for a getaway. Those Chocolicous truffles & 🥨 are so yummy but you do have to watch the calories , your right about the larger portions.🍧😋
I like how they've turned a 🚃 into a museum reflecting Missouri's rich history as the first railroad west of the Mississippi & the premier eagle lines.
When it comes to German crusine it's probably never going to win you over but you have to admit they make the best sausages & their beers don't come much better.
I'm always impressed every time by the counthouses & suchlike by how splendid & classy they are & freely open to the public .
A fine selection of 🍷 for you to savour , it must have been a quiet day. It's a great climate for growing grapes & with its beautiful scenery touring all the winery's is really worth it , a family's tradition going back to 1855 & the casings are made from white oak from the forests of France & sell nearly 200 ,000 gallons of wine a year , with 10 or more to choose from , full bodied red Norton's to strawberry like Catawba. As a Frenchie I'm surprised you haven't grown up drinking wine with meals.
Rounding things off it was nice of them opening the museum for you , some free PR , hopefully you'll encourage more visitors. I wasn't expecting a mammoth 🐘 bone , so many fascinating exhibits & personal war items , a remarkable collection of arrowheads. I like it when local townsfolk take pride in investing time & effort bringing their historical stories to live.
From April 27 you'll can visit the Artisan cheese market.
On May 3 the local artists will be having an exhibition
& the big annual Manifest Festival takes place on may 17
Thanks Marie , its nice now that it's warm enough to film in your garden again. With how often your either here or there , ha who can keep track , you can always save any good travel recommendations ( like I sent) for future trips . Leavenworth in Washington is another Bavarian world renowned town you might have heard of. Have a Blessed Sunday , all the Best 🧡🌼✌️

You are in "real" America when you visit small towns like that one in Missouri. Most foreigners think of the US as the cities and suburbs, when in fact it is a big collection of small towns just like that one. Glad your mom is traveling with you and that the two of you can create some long lasting memories. Is this her first visit to the US? If so, how does she like it so far? We held my son's 50th birthday party at Stonehill Winery. They have a big Octoberfest in Herman. The name is derived from a first century German hero. His name was Armenius, and that is also where the name Herman comes from. I will be shocked if you go north from St Louis to my birthplace of Hannibal, MO. Mark Twain spent his boyhood there. Go west from there to Marcelene and that is the boyhood home of Walt Disney.

One person was the driver and did not drink, but they all had interesting local foods as well

If you're in Missouri again, you might try Ste. Genevieve. Oldest European city West of the Mississippi, and there's still some historical buildings and such around. You can probably tell from the name it was a French settlement, French Canadian specifically, part of New France. It was also ruled for a time by Spain.
It's worth a day trip if you're in the area, several nice little shops, restaurants, an old Gothic church, some 18th century houses, museums, etc. When I went there were some French tourists around asking about the history.

Actually the Orlando city courthouse the second one was built from the hands of everyone in central Florida using plans from the first architect to be certified in Florida. It is an Italian revival building that was converted into the regional history museum. The first courthouse was a one room cabin built from the community’s own hands when the city was known as Jernigan not Orlando. The cabin was demolished and the land was converted into heritage park. Although bits of the cabin are in the museum including the door and the place the judge stood. The court house was built because of an arson case that literally was never solved. Basically someone started a fire which raged out of control which we still don’t know who did it. The original courthouse was lost due to another fire someone set deliberately and well the second nicer courthouse was built. We are on the third courthouse near the current city hall which serves well but it might need an overhaul sooner or later.

If you ever go back you have to go south of STL about 60 miles. Park City is what it's called now. About 4 of the small towns got together and become one town. It's bad, the first time I drove back after they changed the name. at night drove right by there, Did not realized it until I was about 10 mile south of it when I this Flat River MO. That area was the lead belt of the Ozarks. Were a bunch of Lead mines around there. They have tours in some. One in Bonne Terre has one you go down and take a boat tour in it. Flat River became a wine country now. Later Kyle

I'm originally from De-Soto,Mo. and my mother was born in Bonne Terre. I worked in STL but did my shopping etc. in Farmington a lot. Flat River has been changed to Park Hills now. I moved away about 14 years ago and we do not miss the winters at all.

Sans doute, tu as découvert ceci quand tu étais là. J’espère que tu sois heureuse chez-toi en France, jusqu’à ton prochain voyage à l’étranger. Bonne nouvelle semaine et vive la France!

Wow I know almost nothing about Missouri. Except that it's where the Ozark lakes are and it's where Sharp Objects on HBO was set.

    Marie,
I love your accent. My lineage is French, from the Lille. He left in 1634. I have a picture of the church where he was Christened. Of course he didn't bring a wife to the new world. I think he married a native American. Those people amaze me that left their families to never see them again.
The French travelled up and down the Mississippi River trading for furs and skins. There is a French town in Missouri called St Genevieve right on the river. Of course there is New Orleans and Cajun America.

I think the Hermann courthouse has been occupied and functioning since it was built. Although it has undergone renovations it never ceased acting as the Courthouse.

Very interesting. What is a "real" Missouri accent? I've lived in Missouri all my life and I have to say that there are many different accents depending on where you are from in Missouri. Humm!

I'd be curious to hear her pronounce some of the French derived names from the region as a French person would. I'd alway heard that St. Louis would be pronounced St. Louie for instance. Or how about a river / park name from where I grew up, "Cuivre River".
