2:44 before 1.18, badland biomes were covered with a thin strip of desert biome around the edges which means that you can also have a village or temple spawn there if you're lucky

Those lava spawns could get you world record for fastest death. Like Hanabi’s record by spawning in an iceberg, the timer doesn’t start until you put an input in the game. You don’t have to move, and the lava will kill you.

I always found it a bit ironic that even though "do not dig straight down" is a classic and iconic rule of minecraft, it is actually pretty effective method if you just want to get better ore or cave fast (especially ones generated on lower y axis), granted your luck with the world generation isn't terrible. You can easily avoid accidentally falling to your death by digging straight down while standing in between 2 blocks.
All of these are absolutely insane, but I can reasonably explain them all, that last one with the ice was legit a wtf moment. I have no idea how the hell that generated.
I think that this was a ravine in an ice biome, the water source + the flowing water was frozen by the game before the ocean could generate. You can see it has a diamond shape
@@n0b0dy819 the debris was in the netherrack, then the bastion spawned on top of it. the bastion generated it's share of air blocks, overriding the netherrack next to the debris
4:30 I mean knowing MC generation this is normal (but rare) as structures are generated after the world so the rule of “ancient debris can’t spawn with it touching an air block” is still followed doesn’t apply to air blocks generated by structures after the fact.
That doesn't change the fact that it's wrong. Like it makes sense but it's wrong, just like how 0 to the power of 0 is 1. I can explain it but it still feels wrong.

my carziest spawn was at the bottom of a huge cylindrical crater. there was even a patch of grass and a tree so i could just go straight to mining in a cave. whats crazy for me is that it was the first time i have even seen a crater of that shape at all. truly mythical for me

I think the weirdest thing i've ever experienced was having spawn be right above the stronghold, and the stronghold also being connected to a cave entrance simply 20ish blocks away (which was how I found it in the first place) This was on the ps3 btw, and the map there is finite, so the stronghold can only spawn in so many places. Still, simply going into a cave and then coming upon the thing is definitely on top of my list of 'strange old mc happenings' considering its technically not supposed to happen

That can still happen even in newer versions

It's (likely) caused by the ship, usually the most outgoing part of a city, going past a "cell" in which endcities are allowed to generate.
