- From a VHS tape recently rediscovered in a dusty basement - this internal corporate video, looking at how to maintain standards and a high reputation, was made for Cathay Pacific in late '94/early '95 by Scott Lynds (big:group).
25 years ago, their goal was to deliver the best quality of service to passengers and now they put the cost reduction in first place. The glitter
of aviation is going to dark
Used to be value for money and no expense spared for CX, not anymore, these days, CX is all about money.
I watched a video done at an airport in the USA wherein a Mandarin speaking Cathay Pacific staff demanded the vlogger to delete his video. The comments said she's weird and psycho. She's not even in China.
The China takeover ruined Cathay Pacific. The former HK guy said he wouldn't risk transiting in Hong Kong or flying Cathay Pacific. Obviously, they got rid of the staff at Cathay Pacific and installed their spies. Hong Kong is Cantonese. China is Mandarin.
Great to see this, especially from a perspective 20yrs later.
Interesting workings of such a quality airline!
That was the golden era of Cathay Pacific.
the message of this video applies to the current situation of Cathay after 20 years
1:58 Japan Airlines are now partnership with Cathay Pacific as OneWorld Alliance members.
3:19 Also did Malaysia Airlines.
And because of the partnership, Cathay Pacific no longer flies to Kuala Lumpur, taken over by codeshares on Malaysia Airlines & Cathay Dragon.
@@tiadaid and they have returned again because Cathay Dragon/Dragonair was merged into Cathay Pacific
This is why I love Cathay
Ancient History, still ❤️ CX the heady era of the 90s ain’t ever coming back! 😢
The 5 Asian Countries that I would fly to with Cathay Pacific Airways are Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Japan.
Really cool video
thanks for sharing
Brushwing was slightly revamped in 2014. The motto is now "Life Well Travelled".
It's history now...
非常喜歡國泰航空
Are Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan still Cathay Pacific's biggest markets?
Yap!
Eva Air China Airlines (taiwan) has a principals in his home .
This is what you showed us for the past 25 years. I took Cathay in the 2000s to Sapporo, Bangkok, Taipei, Saigon, Sydney, and Narita, Possible to Phnom Penh.
I don't get why people said CX was the greatest airline in the 1990s. I flew a lot with them on the LHR HKG route. The crew was great but other than that the hardware wasn't. CX was the slowest among major airlines to introduce personal TVs in economy, and one of the last to introduce fully flat beds in business. Virgin and to some extent BA had much better hard products back then.
Yeah, but did you see the BA or virgin FA’s teeth? Half of them are either fully missing or fully bad. Made me want to vomit looking at that shit after a 14 hour flight. Another example of socialized medicine gone bad!

Of those only JL BR and CX are 5 star
Today everything CX do is opposite! Take those GenZ & educate them on plane travel! They dunno hence they know only to cut costs.
