I’m doing the same swap I’ve got the throw out bearing measurements studs in but the clutch fork is kicking my butt I have the adjustable pivot what is the secret to get pivot forks on the pivot ball and then how did you adjust it with fork installed
Sorry, I looked but didn’t find any numbers on the bell housing. I know it was out of a truck and was the larger size for a 168 tooth flywheel / flexplate.
I'm looking to do this swap but I have the nv3550 on my 2001 tj, I'm going back and forth between hemi, magnum and ls, but always keeping the jeep manual transmission and budget friendly
Right on, for what it’s worth, in my project the new AX15 transmission was not a huge portion of the budget. I know the NV3500 is supposed to be a great trans, so I don’t blame you for keeping it. I’d just suggest reviewing the free info at Novak Conversions before you get started. Good luck!
I built 4 TJ V8's and used the NV3550 in all. Not fond of the smaller AX15 4-6 cylinder transmission behind a V8. Also used the 5.9L Dodge motor as it's a much cheaper and easier way to go. Almost plug and play!
if its not too much, could i get the PN for the clutch and fly wheel parts, looking at the price differences overall between this setup and the advance adapter setup for my 89.
Give Novak Conversions a call... they’ll get you the complete parts list and go over all the details and $$$ with you. They were very helpful. I didn’t care for the advance adapters design, although I see many people online have good results. I personally was impressed with the customer service Novak offered. Good luck with the project.
Hello there, did you have any issue installing the motor mount? doing a LS swap on a 04 LJ with 5.3 and 4l60e and trying to decide what mount to go with. thank
@@BobWilson84 To clear the firewall, Did you have to remove the intake when installing the engine? Do they provide you with a location to position the mounts?
Hi first would you be so kind and send the complete list of items to that you bought from Novak for this LS to AX15 that would be so helpful I did check their website but there is to many items and I’m not sure I supposed to get and second I think you did a great job and people that have some bullshi. comments are just jealous a don’t do anything just sit on their ass and dream 😂
Yo! Trust me on this one…. Set aside about 20 minutes and give Novak a call. They were so helpful, they literally sold me everything I needed and i didn’t have to memorize or itemize their parts list. I can’t say enough it enough, Novak is awesome and extremely helpful!
Yep, nearly done.... check out the latest video I made. Overall, it was reasonably difficult for me as this was my first vehicle restoration (minus experience working on other stuff). It runs like a champ, advise: put together a list of stuff you’ll need and come up with price and double it. Ask yourself is it worth it. Good luck
Hello... I think the AX5 might be the transmission you are thinking about. Seems like the AX15 is pretty popular for this engine swap and lots of guys are having good luck with them. I think a 4L60E would be much stronger if someone planned to build an epic 5.3. Hopefully with normal casual driving and a tame 5.3 the AX15 will last.
@@BobWilson84 The AX5 doesn't even bare mentioning. I know that thing is a complete turd. But the AX15 is still considered light to medium duty at best with and input torque rating of around 300 ft.Lb.
Glad to see good videos with actual information for once. Keep up the good work
Looking good. Novak makes some good stuff. I used the same engine mounts.
Three baby's without diapers disliked this video.
Thank you for making this video.
Nicely done Bob! You've shared a bunch of great information. Thumbs-up and Sub'd... Cheers Mike!
That's a nice slave cylinder. Did you choose a heavier duty clutch disc?
out of curiosity where did you find the instruction manual?
Nice Hemi.

Crap, I don’t recall anything other than I needed a longer shift fork pivot ball thingy
I’m in the process of doing the same and your video is extremely helpful! Out of curiosity are you using a 460486 bellhousing?
Sorry, I looked but didn’t find any numbers on the bell housing. I know it was out of a truck and was the larger size for a 168 tooth flywheel / flexplate.
excellent I want information.Do you have a sales link?
did the bellhousing come from an automatic trans or manual?
How did you centered you novak motor mount for the 5.3

How did you centered your novak 5.3 to the cj7.? I have a 79 an im doing a ls swap and what cluch kit did you get along with the bellhouseing
This is a YJ frame…. So your kit might be different. I went with the Novak adapter from LS to AX-15. Novak clutch components as well

These mounts worked perfectly.

@@masu3701 I installed the driveline then lowered the body onto the frame. Can’t help ya there sorry.

standard bell housing? for the 5.3?
Hi did you complete your Jeep because I have a CJ 7 Jeep 1981 and how hard is this task to take on and how does it run and do have any pointer

Hey man I really want this setup to work for me have you had any issues with your transmission? How’s it holding up
Hey sir, I don’t have the jeep any longer, but the new owner said it was holding up well!
Hey man question. Can you use the regular 5.3 starter? Or do you need a special one?
The factory starter fits, but I elected to use a smaller gear-driven to be safe
Fantastic build sir. Where did you get the ax15 and was it overbuilt for the 5.3 power?. Thanks.
Nope, just a factory new AX15 from Novak
how is your ax15 holding up? considering the same swap...
Not my jeep anymore, but holding up well.
Hi.. What flywheel did you use
Hey, I used everything from Novak
I don't understand why , spend and use so much time building it to sell it?
Projects like this take so long that a lot of people lose interest. Plus, if he has kids, he may need the money or a jeep with more than 3 doors.
I just don't get why everyone is throwing these AX-15s behind a 5.3??? They are not even close to rated for that engine.
