I'm 71 and this isn't a Hippie masterpiece...It is a masterpiece for the ages for all.
Amen fellow 71 y.o. when i listen to this i dont feel old. i miss the 70's.🌞
@Honest Mark good morning! So far so good out in Vegas. Hope you are having a good one too. 😊
As we used to say, keep your sh-shirt on, brother. I can think of lots of worse things than to be or to have been a hippie. As a human and a music lover you should know without a slightly older female having to tell you that music connects directly to the soul, whatever you prefer to call it or even yourself, for loving to listen to it.
Im 37 and when I was a kid, I found this tape in my mom's house. I WORE IT OUT. Literally destroyed the cassette from listening so much.
I'm 73, and this is still my favorite band next to the Beatles. Ageless.
RIP David Crosby (August 14, 1941 - January 18, 2023), aged 81
You will always be remembered as a legend.
loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
The man is gone 😔 but the music lives on 🎵🎶
Have been listening to his/their music all day! In the day, it changed my life. I hear this music and I am right there again! Thanks David for all the gifts you left us!
I've BEEN listening to their music since I was in Jr High school in the 60s. THERE'LL never be another band like CSNY RIP DAVID CROSBY 🙏
Legend.
I'm 71 and this is one of the best albums ever made, RIP David Crosby
Absolutely!!!

I’m 76 …this music speaks to my soul…I lived in California during this time and all my heart returns to those good days when things seemed so simple…I bought the album for the cover, I listened to the album for the beauty of the content…what is life about, anyway…..this is a masterpiece and seems to me to explain my life up to this point…this masterpiece gives me solace….
Yes the good old times 👍
You summed it up beautifully Wendy!
I'm 74....got it.
You lived the Golden Age of music, lucky man...😜
I'm just a puppy at 64 but I could not agree more! RIP David.
I'm 31 years old and I just had open heart surgery six weeks ago, it has been the hardest times of my life recovering, as well as the decline into stage 3 heart failure prior to the surgery. These guys, as well as Joni & James, have been the soundtrack of my 2022. A year of hard times, a year of learning a lot about myself and about the world around me. I know a lot of my fellow commenters on this video are my elders, and I want to say that I'm sorry no one seems to care when the body starts to fail or mind starts to go. I understand, and I care. Thank you guys for the music & inspiration in all things life. Forever hippy, forever counter culture, forever for peace.
Still the greatest and best album I have ever listened to. All time favourite .😎♥️
Keep on … keeping on. This too shall pass for you 💥 Wishing you continued improvement and sunshine in 2023, so strong you will need sunglasses 😎
Hang in there bro.
God loves you , and so do we. Amen
Carry on.. love is coming to us all. Be well and live well. ♥️
I born 1960..teen in 70's .as i told my son..u would of had a ball !!
Upon receiving the news of David Crosby passing away I instantly had to come in here to listen to one of their best albums once again. R.I.P. David Crosby

Me too. Listening to it as I write.

Déjà vu and the fantastic live-album Four Way Street are epic .
81 year Mr. David Crosby, you may go now and rest in peace
Came to listen in honor of Croz. RIP to one of the greats.
69 yr old lady here; I agree 100%, it was a fantastic time to be young!
Another 69 year old lady. We had the best music and interesting times as teenagers. Life is so short tho at times it didn't feel that way
We were so lucky to be born when the music fueled a whole new approach to life and how we could choose to live it.
My favorite song is by buffalo Springfield "rock & Roll woman"....Niel & Steven. But "Deja Vu" is an incredible masterpiece!!! I've followed these guys it seems forever!! The boomer generation, everyone of us are so fortunate to have been able to grow up to this music!! God bless us all.....!!!
I look back now and realize just how cool my life has been. I hope to make more memories in the future, but I don't know. Heath problems I hope to resolve. Anyway...there won't be an awesome soundtrack like back in the day to go with it.
64 now . Went with my uncle Rich with a Chevy C 10 . Rich was a senor @ New Paltz ( actually graduated in June ) . I was 11 . He said " you might see some nudity " . I said " great ." Listening to " Deja Vu ". Now . Never got in . I went to Stock 1994 with my cousin Anthony ( S I AJ )
My best buddy Jimmy and I listened to this album over and over back when it was first released. Jimmy died of cancer about 13 years ago, at 56 years old. He died from Vietnam War exposure to Agent Orange. We both hated that unnecessary war ! Among other albums, Deja Vu was an epiphany to us. I so much miss my friend.
I feel the cry of your heart. Many Jimmy's died. I am sorry to for that war.
R.I.P Jimmy.
Brother, We know many Jimmy's. Peace
I feel for you man.
Memories that bind the angels and the mortals.
I listened to this whole album in honor of David Crosby. I had forgotten the influence this music had on me in the 70's and how it walked with me thru all of my teenage highs and lows... and I do mean highs! Timeless, brought tears to my eyes - what a legend we have lost today.
Listening to the album now 💜🎶
I’m drinking a good white Chilean wine and listening Deja Vu in honor por David Crosby and his group. Thanks for give me great times in my 70’s.
Carry on Mister David Crosby. Godspeed
me too!!!
Listening to it now.
As a 73 year old, older but not old, you hear this music from a different perspective. Such beautiful harmonies, such beautiful and thoughtful lyrics, brings up emotions you didn't even know you had.
I know exactly what you mean.... Same age of course....
A tad younger, but was never with people my age, born too late! But I didn't miss much. The music is part of me...on my own chasing freedom yet safety at the same time. Homeless off and on from 15...not easy to figure out how to live when you weren't parented well. Used and abused...then thrown away. I chose God at a young age and that was my saving grace! I don't mind getting old, but I'm so ready to go on Home man.
Well said sir.
Yes Sir! Very great album.
At 68. Still truth.
The music of the hippie era was and still is the music that takes me to a happier place☮️☮️💙
We were all trying to find love...too often settled for sex.
Hey, CSN/The Byrds have been honored at the Country Music Museum in Nashville. Was put up 3 days before I got there October 3, 2022. Check it out!
I call it the "enlightened era" !
@@carolmiller5713 Well...I am not so sure on that one.....:)...a lot of the hippie-dippy stuff has brought us to where we are today (in a bad way!).....:)
This was simply the soundtrack to our lives. I can't remember a time when this music WASN'T around. Fly high, David. You're free.
"the soundtrack to our lives." Thank you for the truth!
Shady, you said it perfectly! The Byrds an CSN was the soundtrack of my life..no matter where I was physically!( 1969-1971 I lived on Guam..then CA, then returned to college in Mississippi and rolled from then on!)
It was the most beautiful
Kind of music
Because, indeed, we have all been here before, and we shall return!
Absolutely! Yes, this was the most influential music for me growing up.
I had forgotten how much I loved this album….so good,
Kinda like when I go to put up my electric guitar and see my old acoustic sitting there. It's like Hello beautiful, I missed you.
One of those ageless classics that transcend time - sign of True Art!
This record was such a memorable part of my childhood. RIP David Crosby.
I was 16 when this was released. It blew me away then and it blows me away at 68 in 2023. RIP David.
It was one of my favorites. I played it often and sang along. I will turn 68 later this year.
What a great time to grow up with such excellent music. Peace was cool back then.
"Right On" fellow brother. I was 16 also when I 1st heard this. And also, now at 68 you could not be more right. David your soul and music will be so missed.

Rediscovering this music. It was my husbands favorite band of his youth. He passed away this past January so now I will play his music to bring me back to him.

Ditto, 66 here my friend
@@davidcarter1738 I heard this, and many others as a small child. Born in 1960, I saw all of the older kids rocking out to this and I mostly heard it on their hifi gear. It was all so exciting and colorful. It gave me an incredible soundtrack to a pretty decent childhood. By the time I got old enough to get out and about, it had all changed to Black Sabbath, Kiss, Alice Cooper and that kind of stuff. I still prefer this era. I think there was more talent among the musicians, and it wasn't all so creepy, dark and sinister.
I still feel this way.
Same for me and I'm 74 now and I just read the news that David Crosby has died and it breaks my heart.
@@cindygreenberg9079 You would have been one of those older kids I was talking about. A lot of y'all had pretty decent stereo gear, and I could hear it when I was outside in the yard. All I had to do was ask what it was, and I knew which records to get. Atlanta had 2 great college FM stations, and that also saved me from top 40.
Interesting way to get a musical education, huh?
When I heard the news I had to listen to Almost Cut My Hair.
I'm originally from a small, northern English former industrial town, so the 60s folk/rock/hippy movement wasn't a thing in my life as a kid. But when you hear this, you realise it's a part of you, whoever you are, wherever you're from. RIP Mr Crosby.
I will be 70 this year , and graduated high school in70.I lived this and loved it.
I will be 68 in June this year and boy do the memories come flooding back! My H.S. days! Wow! Where have the years gone???

🎵
No music, no life, life cannot be without music, life is a music that connects us to each other and God, God appears in the space between people who love each other, and you can hear his voice in the music, especially in the silence between the notes.😃

Music that you really enjoy acquires the essence of the feelings and experiences you have when you listen to it. I can recall so many enjoyable times from my youth when I listen to the music from back then, like this album.

My older sister bought this album and one day she sat my mother down to play teach your children hoping to make a pathway of communication but it went right over my mother's head. In 1974 I moved to California I would call my mom and say I love you at the end of the call,
and she would say, okay.
As time went on my mother opened up with her emotions and we became a very affectionate PDA family.
My mom even got to the point where she would say I love you back - it was beautiful.❤

I appreciate this album so much. Music has lost this kind of genius so thanks for sharing with the younger crowd. Amazing songwriters, singers and musicians. This is pure magic and sadly no longer do we have such talent.
They didn't have autocorrect, and didn't sell their music using vulgarity, loud volume or misogyny. They had real talent. They could compose, snd actually sing, topics that shaped my generation. They all were generous with each other, shared chord progressions, different string tunings, love, everything. It was a generous time. I've seen a T shirt I should get, it says "I may be old, but we saw all the good bands." Let your freak flag fly, Em 82.
@@MarySanchez-qk3hp thanks 🙏🏼 and yes, totally agree. Lucky you for experiencing this talent when it came out. This is why it’s important for younger people to explore and not except the crap we are given!
Agree, a raw heartfelt harmonious sounds always sounds better!!!
@Ann Pommer 🥺
Yep. You are attractive and smart. Music is art and some art is appreciated by different people and not by others. This sounds dumb but I think Dat it sums up something. Peace.
David may have left us, fallen apart physically over the years due to neglect/substance abuse. However, his work/music is brilliant that will easily stand the test of time. RIP, David and thank you for what you gave us. Can't wait to hear what what you had in "the can" while you lived the last days in your home studio.
I'm 73 and I still love this group.
The sounds of my youth.Thank you David Crosby.
THIS ALBUM WILL LIVE ON TILL THE END OF TIME. R.I.P David Crosby
Folk-rock pioneer David Crosby dies at age 81 after long illness! He passes on into Legend! I loved his music! I saw Crosby & Nash play at Carnegie Hall, NYC on Sept. 30, 1971 and after 12 songs Stills walks on stage and plays with them for another 8 songs! At the the time, the group was separated and was doing solo albums. So, when Stills surprised them by coming on stage They hugged and Stills was handed a guitar and they played! The crowd erupted at that point as It was so unexpected! That place was ROCKING!
I bought the record fifty years ago, but I didn't understand it. Today I finally love this music. A true masterpiece!
When I bought the album right after its release and I felt the album cover, I knew I was holding something very special. This is one incredible album that has easily stood the test of time.
Yup, still got my original vinyl also!!! Kids today will never understand.....
Right on collector of great vinyl man...from san antonio TX. Those were the days ...

So sad David has left us today. I hope we all listen to the music and let it work its magic .RIP David Crosby
Incredible album…David Crosby was an incredible human being. RIP.
RIP David Crosby Love this album!
Here because we just lost David. This album means the world to me and until my turntable is fixed, I'll be here where I can be taken to another place.
RIP David Crosby. You defined my youth and I'll be forever grateful!
RIP David Crosby, the passing of a legend. The Deva Vu album got heavy rotation in our (very fine) house back in the early 70s when I was a kid, thanks to our fairly hip parents. It's right up there with The Beatles Revolver and Sgt. Pepper as life-affecting memorable albums. David dodged some bullets over the years, getting off drug addiction and many personal relationship obstacles. In later years he was always the first to admit he might not have lasted so long, and seemed to come to terms with aging and the final years/days. Sleep well man and thanks for sharing the journey.
Had this album! I'm 74! One of the best groups ever!!! Love these guys! Rest in peace, David Crosby!!! ❤️👍🙏😪
Long live these tunes. Cherish them forever. Rip David
I wish I still had mine...much was stolen over the years. But I no longer have a stereo. So thankful for youtubers for posting so much of the music I love and cherish! Headphones and Heaven~
David Crosby RIP. A magical artist. So talented.
I was 17 listening to this album and partying with friends
Listening to this after the announcement of David Crosby’s passing. David was an amazing harmony singer and guitarist…
One of the three vocalists to bring jazz phrasing into rock music (along with Grace Slick and Van Morrison).
Lots of love for David Crosby. You'll be dearly missed
Rest easy david crosby..1 of the best lps ever..
A masterpiece as fresh as when it came out . Their harmonies incredible. I love it
Woodstock, in particular, embodies the times it was made. Deep, rich and emotional. Boomers were so lucky to have this be the music that defined our generation. Today's music will never last. This album is over 50 years old and still rocks my soul!!
Woodstock, great, I was one of the stage hands, met the greatest people
'Today's music will never last' That's what was said by the silent generation about this music! From generation to generation nothing changes and we all end up sounding like our parents.
Great people..wish today's kids could come together like this
And I can attest, via my children (24 thru 31) and young commenters on UA-cam, that younger generations discover and love this music, often without the guidance of us older listeners!
@@susang.8549 just be very grateful today's youth does not have the eminently and potentially catastrophic issues we had to "solve" (since our parents weren't getting anyway with their peer solutions, we were fortunately willing to step up......:)
Rest in peace brother Crosby. We will guard your music forever
One of my favourite group since the Woodstock era. Their songs tell the stories of the times. Love their voice harmony very much. Rest in peace David, but you will always be remembered forever.
RIP David Crosby 🙏🏼 Undoubtedly singing sweet harmonies with the angels tonight 😇
I'm an 80s child, but this is still an absolutely fantastic album.
So they were! I was 21 when this album came out!. I still have the orig. Vinyl!. Glad you liked it! Alan
YOUR YOUNG STOP COMMENTING LIKE AN OLD MAN
@@alandehn8541 WOW! What a gem you have there. If it's not all scratched up? It's worth something.
Same! Remember it from a different time 💛
I was a die hard Beatle fan and this album when it came out was the first to actually grab my attention the way the Beatles first did.
Listen to Joni Mitchells version of Woodstock though she wrote it and it is so different and mystical.
One of the greatest albums ever recorded. Not a dud on it. Thanks for the posting!
I’m in my 60’s this was one of the records of my youth
Over and over I'd listen to this album. Over and over.
Thank you, David Crosby. It was one hell of a ride.
Wonderful glorious memories of this album, being in love, going to concerts and just living and having a carefree life in the seventies. RIP David Crosby, thank you for being part of my life. ♥️💯😓
Goodbye David. Fly free and high. Your soul is soaring and full of joy.
Their harmonies just do me in!!!! And then the lyrics....I sat and listened and read!!!!!
❤
RIP David Crosby. Few other albums epitomises the greatest rock music of the 1970's more than Deja Vu.
No one harmonize like these guys
one of the best albums made
