Hi Jason. Great tips for keeping Windows 10 running smoothly. For anyone interested in putting a Disk Cleanup icon on the desktop or in the taskbar: right click on the desktop >> New >> Shortcut >> for "Type the location of the item:" enter: C:\Windows\System32\cleanmgr.exe. Then Next >> Name it something like Disk Cleanup >> then Finish. You now have an icon on the desktop that will run the app. If you want it in your taskbar, run it and then right click on the icon in the taskbar as it runs and choose: Pin to taskbar. I know it is easy to run from Start, but I find that if I make the icon visible, it reminds me to use it more often. Hope this is useful for someone. Thanks for all your great videos and tips :)) Thumbs up!!

As an IT Professional for over 20 years I feel that this video is very clear and concise. You would not believe how many techs I had to teach this stuff to (let alone end users).I have found that for the VAST majority of issues are cleared up by doing these basic tasks. (most important is restarting the computer at LEAST once a week.) In an enterprise we use group policy to manage some of these tasks.
The last big this is looking at disk space once in a while. I just took care of a user who was saving all scanned images to the hard drive and not clearing them out (0nly had 80 Mb free out of 256 Gb) I told the person to place them on the network or on a portable 1tb drive. Now the world is good again

One more for the list "dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup" from an administrative command prompt, this does a tidy up of the WinSXS folder, you can see the difference if you run "dism /online /cleanup-image /analyzecomponentstore" before and after. Yes you forgot to clear virtual memory. Do this BEFORE you defray the disk.
    1. Start in safe mode
    2. Go to virtual memory settings and turn it off by setting it to ZERO
    3. Reboot into safe mode
    4. Defrag the disk
    5. Turn back on virtual memory and let Windoze manage it
    6. Reboot into normal mode.
Virtual memory works much better when it has a large chunk of continuous disk space. Like every other Windoze file it can be fragmented causing your disk to trash looking for pages.
The best thing would be to relocated the virtual memory on another disk all by itself just like a real operating system like Linux does

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /flushdns
    ipconfig /renew

Microsoft has deprecated Windows (long lived) Cleanup manager (cleanmgr.exe), which means it's not supported anymore, and you use at your own risk (I use to schedule a weekly cleanmr task on every Windows installation I did, doesn't work now :( ) Another good maintenance task to setup is a RAM disk and store your web browsers cache on it, it'll make the web browser snappier and every time you reboot the browser cache will be clean (good security measure).

I don't have a video on the BIOS. It is Basic Input Output System and is the first software that is triggered when you turn on your computer. It is used to start the operating system and is configured for your hard drive, memory, graphics and other devices in your system. You rarely have to do anything with the BIOS. The most common is if you change out a hard drive or add memory. Otherwise it is preset for you on a new computer.

Windows 10 by itself will take up at least 20GB of disk space. If you have any other programs installed and some picture files you could easily get to 41GB even with a very clear operating system. It sounds like you just need a larger hard drive. You could get an inexpensive 500GB SSD for under $60 if you find one that works with your computer and that would solve many of your challenges including give you a faster performing computer.

My latest video will probably help to diagnose/fix the issue. Take a look here: ua-cam.com/video/WxjYP_vWi-w/v-deo.html. The first tip should give you some things to try to resolve the problem. If Windows has corrupt files you may need to do a repair or reset on your system to get it back to normal.

How can i resolve this issue

    • @SeleTraining
      @SeleTraining  3 роки тому +1

There are a number of things that can cause the 100% disk usage issue on Windows 10. On some older versions of Windows there was a bug that can be fixed simply by doing an update. One of the more common issues is that Windows updates are running in the background even when you don't see them. Go to Windows Update and make sure nothing is pending and complete any updates. You may need to restart multiple times. If you can't get past these pending updates then follow the steps I show to clear out stuck updates in this video: ua-cam.com/video/oBQ_L-bYyXw/v-deo.html. You can also see a list of other potential issues here: www.cleverfiles.com/howto/100-disk-usage-windows-10.html.
