You know that feeling you get when you're in the mountains or a remote patch of woods and you look up on a clear night and the sky is practically white with shining stars? The awe, the wonder, the magnitude...only a guitar player could feel like that when watching Tommy Emmanuel. I don't care what music you like, his playing is like a cure for sadness. God protect that man and those hands.

I've seen Tommy live three times. His on stage presence, the joy with which he performs and the pure humility with which he approaches music surpasses his rare and awesome technical abilities.
Correct seen him a couple of times unbelievable makes it look easy great player 👏
I learnt the first 16 bars or so of his Lady Madonna version. I’ve been playing at a good level for 30 years … still Took me hours of learning like a beginner just to be able to play the bass line with the high strings in syncopation. It cannot be overstated to people how hard this stuff is to do. To see him make it all it sing out like this so flawlessly is one of lifes limitless pleasures
Funny you mention that. I've been playing for 20 years at a pretty advanced level and just started trying to learn Tommy's Blue Moon, with its thumb basslines and all. Actually feel like I did when I first started playing. Messing up rythm and timing. I guess that's how we keep learning!
Even Eric Clapton acknowledges that Tommy is the best acoustic guitarist in the world.

@@esterbetheone3286 At this level, it really comes down to style. There are many acoustic players with similar technical skill to him(many on candyrat records), but Tommy has a style that really is unmatched.

This is the most incredible sound i have ever heard come out of an Acoustic Guitar. Only a master to the masters could accomplish such sound. Pure perfection and i know it when i hear it. Been a musician myself for 50 years some just have talent blessed from above. Tommy Emanuel is one of those.

@@flightofthefatman I'd say definitely a combination. While it's true hard work will make you good obviously talent is still a factor. Tommy has an unbelievable ear and sense of rhythm - while these traits can be improved and even developed, he must have natural ability to be able to bring them to this level. Also, as far as I know all his siblings are / were musicians as well

That picking hand is amazing. The guitar feels almost impossible to master, but I think Tommy has done it.
He's definitely mastered fingerpicking to a very high level. Go watch him play with trey hensley and you'll see trey show us how far flatpicking on acoustic can go!

FEEL is the key here. I hear a Guitar institute guitarist play a piece and i sleep, but a self taught feel player has me on the edge of my seat!
The guy is just beyond any mere words... just amazing to watch.
Beatles music was open to many interpretations and this is a fine example of that.
TE is the only person on planet earth that can play a guitar like that. What he is able to do on that instrument defies explanation. Totally freaking mindblowing, enough said...........

Now that’s impressive. No effects no gratuitous single line. Seamless transitions. Deceptively simple sounding but a lot went into making this sound spontaneous.

Went to see him in 2013, would go again for sure if he comes back around . Very inspiritional.
Tommy is inspired by so many great guitarists. He puts his own spin on them and makes them jaw dropping incredible.
I saw Tommy live at Fairfield RSL Club over 20 years ago - he even sang a gospel song acapella. Gifted and blessed - love ya TE.

Seen him live a few times down under. Just brilliant, and a really lovely and charming guy. When he's touring the country he always makes a point of having free Q and A classes at the local schools that anyone can attend.

There will always be a debate about who is the best guitarist in the world 🌎. All I can say is that Tommy is one of them and there is no other guitarist I would rather listen to. And he was absolutely on fire in this clip.
Imagine that we all could play guitar just like Tommy , then he wouldn’t be special , would he ? But we can’t , and he IS . And that’s the point .
With God’s Grace and guidance ( inspiration ) Tommy has persevered and persevered , for years and years , and struggled , and worked undaunted towards the goal of perfection . And he’s achieved it . Don’t feel depressed, guitar aspirants ; feel inspired , enjoy Tommy’s greatness ( for it’s extremely rare ) , and then sit down . . . and get to work . Beauty is to be found also in the difficult road towards perfection . And there’ll always be only one Tommy Emmanuel .

I enjoyed a meet & greet with TE ... 'the Master' and followed that with an amazing show in St. Louis just a few weeks ago (10/23). The BEST concert experience of my life ... & I've seen many ... Jeff Beck, Led Zep with Bonzo, Little Feat, CSNY, Santana, Stones, Who, on & on & on. Many multiples. This was THE BEST.
