I took second cf bottom frame and added it as another layer, bolted on and it holds stuff, its nice. The arm clamps do wear out, buy extras. And the screws hex head can strip as well as the bits that drive them, get extras also. But it is a rugged, rugged frame, I have crashed countless times, fold it back out and off it goes. Great frame.
hi. what I'd came up with for more space is to add a third full plate. You can order an additional plate from their website. I'd put the esc on the middle level. The top Plate is for the Fc, Fpv, and gps. Whatever you need to mount.
Thanks for the review, I just bought this frame and plan to mount the ESCs as you did. Will the canopy still fit? IE the correct Tarot canopy for this Hex?
Yea, the canopy does fit, just make sure you push the esc's in to the center of the plate as much as possible. Otherwise you will need longer standoffs because the canopy hits the edge of the esc's.
Buy another set of center plates and shim it above the ESC plate with Tarot plate standoffs like tarot 810 or 910 uses for mounting extra plates . Waa-Laa all the room ya need added
Brundog807, I really don't think you will like to have your naza at where you have placed it. I learnt it the hard way. The day I crashed, sideways, one of the arms went right through my beloved NAZA. Consider placing it in a cnc aluminium case if you have no other place to put it.
Just a thought - why are you using 45A ESC's; surely its just extra weight for nothing? I'm running mine with Hobbywing 20A ESC's under the motor mounts, Sunnysky 3508-580KV, and 1447 props cut down to 13.75 inch. At full throttle it draws 19.5 amps per motor. The ESC's weigh just 14g and fit perfectly in the spaces provided, they can take 20A continuous or 30A burst.
First off, I was never concerned about weight. The rig will pick up a 18 pack of beer so the extra grams because of the esc's are miniscule. Secondly I designed it to never have anything get even remotely warm. My motors draw 33 amps with a 1247prop On 6s. So, it is all necessary weight.
brundog807 What motors and battery are you running with this? I'm in the process of building my own 680 Pro and I'm still trying to decide between running 4S with 580kv motors and 13"-15" props, or running 6S at a lower kv. I'm aware that the stock 680 arms can only handle 13" props, but I ordered 333mm/323mm extended arms so I can run up to 15".
Brian Ingram I have the stock size 680, I have 12x6 props on 750's running 4S. The only thing that gets warm is the battery. Remember the long term battery replacement cost. Those 6S's will be $50 more for each one. The one thing you may want to research is the early 680's, and I dont know the changeover date, had clips that tended to break, so my build came with the arms in the locked open position, with the ESC's ziptied inside to prevent them from closing.. I run 4S 5800 25C. In addition, all of the info I found when I was curious about extending the motor leads or the power leads said to go with the motor lead extensions. I have a Discovery also, its on 4S, so I am a bit partial to that voltage, since it allows me to take its 4500 batteries if I want and parallel them up on the 680 for super long flights. Basically making a 9000 4S. The tarot came with parallel power cable already, so thats the easy part of that scenario.
Argh, everything you point out is underneath or at the very bottom of the shot. Is the camera on top of your head? Good review, but the framing could be better.
lol can I ask you a question????????????? Why the hell didn't you just buy 3 sets of the tarot 650 cf mounts for 30$ total? I have 45amp escs on mine with those and they fit great! Everyone ditches the plastic crap ones anyhow.... Here is a link ..www.aliexpress.com/item/TAROT-Floating-type-metal-carbon-shock-absorption-motor-mount-Red-or-Black-TL68B33-TL68B34/2031409140.html
Yee, Those would have fixed my mounting issues. However i ended up buying another set of plates and made the rig 3 stacks and that gave me ample mounting space. Those motor mounts are a great idea tho. I still may implement them. Thanks
I am using a Zippy 8000 4S Lipo at the current moment. This setup has a lot of power and seems to have no issues lifting such a huge battery. I can safely go as high as 6S (says the ESC's) but the motors are rated to 8S. may do some testing to see how if the ESC's can handle more voltage.
Great info. It gave me insight for my own project. Tx.

Yea. That was exactly what i ended up doing. I added one plate above the esc's and am running a 3 center plate rig.

What's your motor and prop setup?
The motors are 4112-485KV Turnigy Multistar 22 Pole Brushless Multi-Rotor Motor With Extra Long Leads. The props are 12" 4.7 pitch carbon fiber props.
brundog807 Cool. Thanks for the info.
brundog807 Would you mind sharing your gain settings?
Argh, everything you point out is underneath or at the very bottom of the shot. Is the camera on top of your head? Good review, but the framing could be better.
Your right on both accounts. The camera was indeed on the top of my head, and the framing would have been better if it wasn't there...
Triple plate ? Easy

+brundog807 hows the flight time?
Dream Deal i can get 15 minutes on my throttle counter.
