Which is your favorite current gen MPC?
Live 2 Retro. I chased it till i got it.
I dont have one but I think this new X colours kinda makes it look like a MPC Renaissance.

I have the Live, I'm about to sell my X, and if I had a choice, I'd go for the Live II Retro. I enjoy the portability, and the soft buttons don't bother me, but my preference would be for the firmer buttons found on the One and X. I hope they come out with a Live III that has those updates.

@@AccurateBeats It feels more like the classic machines I grew up on which is a huge plus. Glad I don't have to use the Q-Link button and can plug up a mic directly to the unit.

The bigger question is. Upgrading the ram will contribute to what in the future? I could have sworn all this time you owned an X Ave. MPC X physical workflow is great. The color-way is classic like the Red and Black OG Air Jordan one’s. You know what would be dope? If AKAI add stem separation with the same power as RipX. Good lord. ✌🏾

Yo ave, since you have other MPC models, can you compare loading up instruments on the LIVE 2 vs the new SE? It’s something I didn’t even know was an issue with the older models. Load up times are slower from what I’m reading. Even with an ssd installed

I think for me this is a lazy upgrade but probably very smart from Akai’s point of view, it’s certainly a great way for them to use up all their old stock pilled components by making the minimalist of changes, adding a new colour and giving it an extra couple of letters after its name. I think the 35th anniversary is just an excuse to do this. Doesn’t even have the Ethernet port.
48 GB of storage, I mean you could have just as easily made it 64GB for probably no extra, 48GB is a very odd number for storage.
So does the clock start ticking again for the Akai MPC X SE or does it continue the same as the MPC X making it still a 7 year old product.
I’m sure there will be lots of gear heads who collect MPC’s that will buy this, but for the average user who already has an MPC X and the plug-in suite even a Live MK II user is this enough of an upgrade to warrant spending $2400 on essentially 2GB RAM, 32GB of extra storage, a colour change, and a different badge. You can buy a 32GB SD card for a few bucks.
I can’t speak for anyone else but I totally feel disappointed, I was hoping for a new flag ship with game changing specs, it’s been 7 years rocking the same old device ,same old outdated components.
It’s not like this machine give us anymore audio or plug-in tracks or anything like that.
As the old saying goes “ you can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig”
So now the question is when do we think there will be any actual new upgrades MPC’s?
PS: I prefer the black and red MPC X, the black buttons on the MPC X SE should have been a different colour.

Ave, you clearly havn't used the Renaissance - Its build, jog Wheel, layout is exactly the same - though it incorporates the X's touch screen - The Akai MPC Renaissance is / was so good as it uses the classic Akai workflow. I used it more or less without looking aty the Transport controls - layout is great - sorry but this is the 1st akai that I think doesn't look that good. The Black is better - maybe I am not so turned on by it as I have the Renaissance - {currently for sale as I have the Live 2}
Is there all new kits that come with that or just the usual stock sounds?
Honest opinion, would you buy a Live 2, MPC X SE, or wait for the next rumored Live?

Same here, the times I've tried to use one I find myself scrolling through menus frustrated looking for processing/effects more than actually making music. Eventually I will get an MPC, I'm up for the challenge, but until then I will continue to be a Maschine peasant!! 😂🤣😭
@@lenenigma2977 came from maschine its easier to get straight to making stuff bc of the browser but for some reason i really like the mpc sample engine more than maschines. if you do more sample based stuff mpc is where its at but if not your not missing much.
@@MrDrakeulahGreat point, you hit it right on the head! I do create alot of sample based tracks, that's why I will at some point switch. I just have to eliminate all muscle memory of Maschine when trying to learn the MPC, a totally different animal!!

The MPC almost made me quit as I couldn’t figure it out in the beginning, thanks to folks like Ave and Malo I was able to get to a place where I’m slowly getting used to it. Once you figure the small things out, you might fall in love. 😂
