I'll never forget meeting Anders during a Beer and Whiskey Festival in 2020. I had spent hours upto my eyeballs in free samples and along comes this bearded gentleman to talk to me about his new project and release coming up via High Coast Distillery. We talked, I sampled it and I complemented him on a excellent whiskey, but said I was too distracted by him looking like the frontman of an excellent metal band i grew up with in High School called In Flames and asked if he had heard of it before. To my surprise he had and he said he got it a lot! When i asked his name he replied "Anders" I was shocked by such a coincidence, Cus that was the singers name too! I wished him well and gave him props on an excellent Whiskey and went on my way. 2 days later they announce a partnership with High Coast Whiskey for a partnership release and I become Red with embarrassment realising I'd been talking to the man himself. If Anders ever sees this, not a day goes by where i wouldn't want to go back and give him a handshake and apologies for being such a idiot.
I bet he remembers this moment, just like you do. Just a normal conversation to a random person, without all the fame and popularity. That you just liked the Whiskey meant surely more to him, than another handshake, just because he is who he is.
Every time I’ve seen Anders on an interview for forgone, half way through I stop the interview cuz I want to listen to the album again haha. Never boring interviews I just really like the album!
If the guy who asked about Passenger is reading this, I asked Anders during a VIP meet and greet about the continuation of it and he stated that’s it’s done.
Me too. Nobody in my opinion is quite as artistic and creative as In Flames. Listening to their music is more than a good song, it's a whole experience and that's why I like it. Like I don't even like cruising and driving to their music. I like to chill and be calm to I can digest everything
Loving the new music. They haven't been on my radar in a while but they brought back the sound that put them on the map and I can totally get behind that.
perfect example of "form is temporary, class is permanent". i guess Foregone is a masterpiece. explanation of the evolution of in flames might do the trick for some of the people labelling in flames a "just commercial, money driven example of how not to be a metal band" or smth like that. anyways - thank you for the interview Nik - and - first and foremost thank you Anders for not stopping development until now and still surprising me over the years!
This was great! I've been a fan of all their music starting when I was a teen mid 90s. Covid brought me closer with all the social media presence. New line up is fantastic! Great new album and I love the melodies and incorporating the cleans. Watching them live, the whole in flames set is amazing where we get a full history lesson.
It seems like Anders is so chill if you don't know who he is it seems like you would never guess that he makes the kind of music he makes, and he is dang good at it
I really love the stuff he does with IAS, glad he talked briefly about it. Tickets gotten expensive? Tbh that depends from band to band and i guess from person to person. Those 50 bucks for the inflames show were more then worth it after a pandemic, atleast for me.
I’m watching this in November and I can confirm that Orbit Culture are doing amazing things, their new album is insane and would be album of the year if Foregone had not released in 2023
This new album is great, I was very passionate about In Flames in early 00 but later I was kinda disappointed, to the point when In Flames where on festival i was not interested and went to sleep in a tent, kinda embarrassing if I think about it now... Now they are back in business, and I am listening to them again!
I love in flames to death, the core of my teen years. Now I'm 35, but I never understood why At the Gates doesn't and have never got as much credit as Dark tranquility or in flames...to me they are the master.
In Flames is way more accessible and easy to listen to. They’re one of those gateway bands for so many metalheads. They’re the biggest melodic death metal band of all time, and there’s no debating that. 🔥🤘

I mean, in your defense, after hours of free whisky samples you were probably pretty close to being absolutely shitfaced?
I bet he remembers this moment, just like you do. Just a normal conversation to a random person, without all the fame and popularity. That you just liked the Whiskey meant surely more to him, than another handshake, just because he is who he is.
Anders is all over the place! Love to see it! :)
Me too!
Proud being swedish to have Anders in the country and other great singers and bands like Tobias Forge, Björn Strid and many more!
Every time I’ve seen Anders on an interview for forgone, half way through I stop the interview cuz I want to listen to the album again haha. Never boring interviews I just really like the album!
Man I love Anders mentality when it comes to music and genre. Makes me love In Flames more than I already did! What a great conversation!
Anders is a gentleman I've spoken to him a couple different times and he was very tolerant over my fanboy questions.
I love how humble Anders is. I hope one day to find the inner tranquility that Anders always manages to portray.

Would absolutely enjoy watching Anders creative writing process for lyrics and melodies.

Great interview. Love that Anders talks about the 1999 show upstairs at the Palladium here in Worcester, Massachusetts. IFWT!
Phenormenal interview, Nik!♥️
Since their new albums release, I've listened to it nonstop!
I found In Flames in 2002 when I picked up a copy of Whoreacle with the Black Ash EP added to it
Been a fan since
Damn! that was a good interview, both from Nick and Anders
Awesome interview Nik! Anders is such a chill dude. I'm loving their new album Forgone \m/

In Flames killed it on December 11 in Oslo Seen them 6 times first one in 2000 They are even better now live🤘🏼🔥
Yeah they became an insanly good live band. Also the addition of chris is such a boost. He so good live, I didnt expect that.

Anders makes me proud to be Minnesotan. Only thing better would be to have been born in Sweden! Unfortunately, our ancestors left for America.
Awesome to hear that about TJR
Foregone is a melodic masterpiece 🤘🔥💚 I’ll love it for many years to come

What a humble, awesome dude. In Flames are one of my favourite bands, old or new. It’s all Gold 🤘😎🤘

I think everyone listens to Anders with a smile on their face! ha Great interview Nik
Every single time he says a song, the sound cuts out. Amazing

PLEASE interview with Tim Lambesis

Not to be a hater but a little more research would help and inform your question choice and maybe inspire the conversation.
