not deathcore, symphonic deathcore sure but it is not deathcore. compare this to bloodruns black and tell me how they are considered the same genre. over produced computer garbage
Got to talk to him for a bit on their last tour with Shadow of Intent! Even though his voice was completely gone he still tried his best to talk to me haha. Awesome dude!
Blake is such a humble guy and doesn't give himself enough credit. DT is one of my favourite bands on the scene currently and the songs are consistently amazing. Keep it up!
I've been ruined for a couple of months lmao. I work with my lil bro and got him into heavier music, anything and everything he puts on (job is 59% traveling) just sounds like a waste of time lmao
This interview was amazing. Super chill guy, and actually motivated me to continue to improve my own work. Thank you Nik and Blake! Also "The Divine Stigmata" is a fkn piece of art
The ending of Brimstone and fire (specifically the redux version) is one of the hardest lines of music I've ever heard. And then when I heard Winter and realized what he was actually doing o had to pause to compose myself. It's wild watching the new standard being made in front of us.
It's so interesting hearing Blake talk about performing be so much easier on the stage. I'll never forget my first time playing a show and I was the same with nerves and stress beforehand, once on the stage that all went away. So it's interesting hearing the same thing happened to someone much bigger and playing a much bigger show. Love Disembodied Tyrant and so glad I started listening to them. Hope to catch them some day.
I'm always so upset when Infant Annihilator isn't brought up when talking about this new era of deathcore. Lorna Shore and Disembodied Tyrant are certainly expanding on that sound, but IA started it. I get that they're a meme band, but I think they deserve way more credit.
I’ve been addicted to this bands music for the last couple months. Haven’t replayed something this much in a long time 😪 All the production tricks and breakdown salad style just does it for me
You guys were one of the opening bands at the Hardcore/Metal festival at the Worcester Palladium. I had never heard you guys before but I'll tell you what I listen to you guys all the time now! You guys were one of the best shows there!! Fantastic that I got to see you guys live and hopefully not the only time! Congratulations you guys are excellent!!
I was already becoming a huge fan of Disembodied Tyrant, but this interview made me even more of one. Such a humble guy with a cool backstory is something the scene needs.
Dude the Periphery shout out made my day! Favorite band and their docs that I’ve watched a million times, influencing the shit I’ve been listening to non stop!
12 min mark. 2 many chefs in the kitchen when wrighting songs can fuck everything up. Lol you are a 24 year old prodigy my friend Sir. Blake of the Tyrant . Thank you for making amazing music
I’m not a fan of deathcore and “modern” metal but I really enjoyed this interview. This guy seems to have a great future for and in this scene. I just wish him to live the next years with less anxiety . Good interview guys!!! Cheers!!!
I love Blake his mind for music is unparalleled. He breathed new life in to a genre to me was already pretty damn exciting! I can't wait to see the band live and give Blake a big high five.
Met him at the okc show. Superchill dude. Melancholy is also 1 of my favorite albums. Gotta be crazy that hes touring with soi. Just wish their set was longer!!!
Nik for half the video: AAAAAHHHHH Blake: I stole shit. These two are absolutely great together. Definitely need them to write something together and soon.
My son will have Nik and Blake as inspiration I hope one day. He is super into Blink by Aviations. I've seen him vibe to the Poetic Edda, Termina, and Lorna Shore. You guys are now the new inspirations for the young bucks coming up. Thank yall for making the music that you do.
Man, back when i was in high school, we never imagined death/extreme/-core metal would get heavier than Meshuggah and necrophagist. Yeah we had tons of ultra-heavy stuff on par with the modern bands, at least in part, but there were obvious periods of stagnation in the broader extreme metal genre, especially in the djent era. His remark about everything being stolen and remixed til it is its own thing is on point, you can hear that with how slayer influenced that first wave of death metal. A lot of musicians can't handle that reality, and they either wind up sounding like everything else, or just give up. Man, dude is a serious class act. Very frank and humble. Definitely one of those people who could pick up any profession and either do it well or exceptionally.
Never heard of him before, then a few weeks ago I was looking for an Ingrid michealson song called winter song and this came up as well. I added it to my queue thinking that the band name/album cover was cool and let me tell you their cover of vivaldis winter is beyond words. I was completely mindblown! And now I get to watch this interview 🥹
Blake! I was so excited to see you in Denver on your tour but I over estimated my work load that day and was not able to make it. I hope you'll come through denver again soon! Stay healthy my guy.
"I have to do this 8 times until it's right because it sucks in the beginning" is so fucking accurate. It sucks having the brain worm that forces me to create compulsively but I totally relate to him.
There must be some kind of cosmic convergence around the initials 'DT' - I LOVE Devin Townsend, Dream Theater, Dark Tranquility, and now Disembodied Tyrant. I decided the other day that he/they are my favourite deathcore band (even though they are MORE than a deathcore band)
Nik please tell Blake this. He writes the deathcore that has been rattling in my head since the og 2007. your band I know is grateful to have you. I seriously think you are the greatest deathcore band to ever hit the scene. Lorna is good but DT,, I will follow you guys to end. I've been a core kid since core started. You are honestly on a new level. I'm 30 and you God damn kid! You blow my mind. Please don't give up on yourself for one second. And marry that woman cause she believes in you bro. Much love. Come to Erebus kelso Washington or Ridgefield Washington or Portland Oregon. Names calvin and I'd love to meet you man
whenever songs from tyrant's first album appear in my queue, it seems to me like Shadow of Intent's material, that I, somehow slipped throught. So the next time I hear Shadow of Intent's song, that is not SOI's song, I know who actually did it. But latest content from Blake feels like "...and I return to nothingness", same revolutinary, same short EP as promo to a long play. That is awesome
So this guy is one year older than, writes the kind of deathcore I like and plays some of my favorite games as named Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. I could be friends with Blake easily. Those Slavic folk bits Malphasian made me think could he a Witcher fan and I was correct.
I fully agree with that lorna shore + shadow of intent point he made.. I saw both bands in 2024 and they were the 2 best live performances i have seen in a while.. absolute banger live shows 🤘 And on a side note, also saw disembodied tyrant and i was blown the fuck away
You got him to boot up his DAW to talk about his mixing and plugins and then talked over and never got back to it? What the actual fuckkk so much value in that potential info
The Poetic Edda is literally the new standard for deathcore as far as I’m concerned
I prefer The Tower: Part 1
It's a little too Lorna-Core for my taste but yeah, hard to name any better deathcore from this year than Disembodied Tyrant
not deathcore, symphonic deathcore sure but it is not deathcore. compare this to bloodruns black and tell me how they are considered the same genre. over produced computer garbage

@JeremyHyatt-tx4vd Methwitch owns but definitely not. He's been writing shit like this for years and years now.

I fucking love Blake and what he's doing. Haven't loved a new band this much in a long time
if Caillou grew up to make sick metal music
And was much more likeable
Underrated comment
Best comment, I might have to steal this
Love the Igorrr shout out! Been one of my favorite acts since Nostril.
The idea of blackened deathcore industry plants is comedy gold. Someone needs to start a TV show about that.
Absolutely
The Poetic Edda has completely blown me away. It has ruined all other deathcore bands for me😂
Massterpiece. Even my gf who hates metal liked the violin solo
I've been ruined for a couple of months lmao. I work with my lil bro and got him into heavier music, anything and everything he puts on (job is 59% traveling) just sounds like a waste of time lmao
Same here xd
Bro, this dude is 24 and homeschooled? What a freaking chad.
This interview was amazing. Super chill guy, and actually motivated me to continue to improve my own work. Thank you Nik and Blake!
Also "The Divine Stigmata" is a fkn piece of art
The Beethoven of deathcore. Been following his work for a couple years and just can’t say enough about how much I respect this guys work ethic.
Blake is laying down the hardest compositions and mixes of all time. Keep doing it brother
The ending of Brimstone and fire (specifically the redux version) is one of the hardest lines of music I've ever heard. And then when I heard Winter and realized what he was actually doing o had to pause to compose myself. It's wild watching the new standard being made in front of us.
11:00 very important approach, very mature
It's good to see someone so talented not being caught up in ego
Very nice. Very demure.

DT makes me cry every time, it's the best!
37:55 I KNEW IT. Their symphonic metal also sounds a lot like Ovids Withering, if anyone remembers that band.
LET THE MAN SPEAK FOR THE TREES!
not even 5 mins in and he’s talking Igorrr. my fuckin man

This ep has been my favorite piece of music all year!
The Igorrr influence was definitely apparent in the recent release. Good to mix up things 🤘

"I have to do this 8 times until it's right because it sucks in the beginning" is so fucking accurate. It sucks having the brain worm that forces me to create compulsively but I totally relate to him.
Yeah, i love Igorrr too. I noticed Aberrant Waltz had Opus Brain vibes in parts.

Damn Nick. Thank you for this. This guy still seems underated. Seems like people, my friends etc dont hear what i can hear in his compositions.
