Tommy, I am a recent subscriber and have watched many of your videos. They are very well done. Thorough yet concise, objective and informative. You inspire knuckleheads like me to take on project like this. You are teaching us it’s not rocket science and it’s fun. Why pay someone else for the minor-medium projects. Keep up the great work. Huge request for next project: 2018 LCI headlight conversion! Come on, you know you want to do it 😉
Dinan makes 2 different exhaust versions. One is a bit longer to extend past the M performance rear diffuser. So in the future, you should look for that version instead.
That might be a world record for swapping mufflers. Also, u forgot to wear safety goggles when u put in the Dinan Muffler in your video. Safety first mam! Can't wait to see what you have for us next.
Just get the m performance titanium exhaust. The tips are carbon fiber and stick out. And the sound is better than any other exhaust system also the exhaust flaps work perfectly
i know this is an old video but im in the same boat as you on the exhaust tips. did you try adjusting the hangers to push the exhaust out more ? or any thoughts on just chopping the exhaust tips and putting on aftermarket tips ? once again, i know you got rid of it as soon as you put it on so you probably didnt experiment with it. just looking to see your thoughts ?
I just got MAD single pipe installed on my M4 with zcp, it's nice but I don't think its loud enough. I am now looking for a muffler but you mention it's not that much louder, is it worth spending that much going from zcp to dinan or another muffler?
@@TommyLGarage Why dont you go to an exhaust shop and get those tips replaced for something else? Because it really sounds great and flaps are fixable.
Fusay34 Too late now I already sold it. Besides I wanted something that resembled factory look and sound. The solution is already on my car you’ll find out in a few weeks ;)
You’re cool. I was thinking to get the Dinan power package for my 2016 M4 F83. Intake, exhaust, and ecu. A local shop said $1k for labor. That’s expensive. I can do the intake, saw your video, just saw your exhaust swap, wow so quickly. I can tackle that but need your motorcycle jack and car ramp as well. Do you have a ecu upgrade? I’ll search to see if you have a video. Thanks for the DIY videos, really helpful. And will get your same steering wheel too.
On yes $1k labor is a lot. You don’t need a motorcycle jack really. You can easily lift it up yourself and put it in. As for the Ecu upgrade - I’m running a CS map via Bootmod3
@@TommyLGarage I know what you mean, I have catless down pipes, 2nd cat delete and resonator delete. So far so good, now looking at maybe getting aftermarket muffler for some 'bass'. So far my set up. to me, sounds really good.
I know you had the Active signature exhaust and swapped back. Curious to know if you considered their 3 can system? It’s currently sold out but I was contemplating getting the 3 can with their mid pipe.
Not trying to tell you to put the Dinan back.... but mine is literally cool to the touch after hard driving - I wouldn't be too concerned with Carbon Fiber, it can take some serious heat.
one last question for you what front lip did you have that you said in a previous video it was flexible when you scrape made of polyurethane if im not wrong where is it from?thanks for your time by the way amazing videos !
Get a AWE Track Exhaust it’s the best sounding exhaust on the market for M4. And I would go for the resonated version. BTW it sounds like a V8 and the downshifts sound amazing too.
For someone shopping for a M3, your quest to make this sound right is making me a little nervous! LOL it’s a shame BMW could not get it right the first few times.
I’ve driven an f80 with an FI exhaust and it was way too loud. I also heard Akra and it wasn’t all that great. It’s been a month since this video and I have figured out my final state. Stay tuned :)
@@kfeems maybe if you have the valves open all the time. In normal sport operation (valves closed when in 3rd gear unless open throttle) then its pretty quiet. Then when you get on the throttle, its probably the better sounding exhausts. Not to mention that I can lift the entire system with one hand and the weight savings benefits that goes along with it.
Fuck that, I'd have the tips extended. That was best sounding setup you had. The fart sounds from the competition is freaking annoying and kind of embarrassing.
You deserve more followers! Quality content!
Logan Brooks thanks!!!! If you know how to spread my reach please let me know :)

I did a headlight video just slightly different. Check it out!
Dinan makes 2 different exhaust versions. One is a bit longer to extend past the M performance rear diffuser. So in the future, you should look for that version instead.
Ahh interesting. I didn’t know that!!! Thank you.

Maybe sometime soon !
great video! I'm a Dinan fan but you're right you don't want to damage that diffuser. Here's another vote for the MPE. Cheers!
Robert Wojcicki I can’t justify the $ for MPE. But they do sound amazing
Great step by step video.!! 👍🏼 can’t wait see what’s next?? Hope you can find what you’re looking for 😊
I’m slowly losing hope :(
👍🏼
very nice . does it have a catless DP? or just EL midpipe? why did you put back your stock muffler though?
OEM downpipes

The only solution I thought of was to cut the tips and weld extensions.
@@TommyLGarage thanks. i think i might go that route since like you its too short for the diffuser
Love this channel I can’t wait for your videos to come 👍👌
Bmw Lover hehe glad you’re still enjoying it!
Have you thought about giving AWE a try??
fondoo maybe one day! Try 7 perhaps ? Hehe
Nice Video Tommy. But Sound was good with that muffler :)
Btw: What kind of Diffusor is that? Brand? Link?
Erik S thanks!
Diffuser is a one-off made by Supremepower. They don’t have them anymore :(

Yes it’s worth it. It will be a nice combination
Tommy that one sounds the best. Stinks about the flaps not working. Guess it’s built to go with stock diffuser
steveadp yup. Sounded great but the tips and flaps killed it for me

Tim Gavin the 3 can apparently sounds nice but it doesn’t have valves. I like the flexibility of going quiet and loud
I love it man beautiful ride!🔥
Thanks!!
Hi Tommy, was wondering if changing the AA midpipe would fail the emissions?
Not in NJ. Not sure in other states
I told you earlier to go with the M Perf/AA mid-pipe setup 😊 You are welcome yo head south to Philly and hear it in person.
Ricky I’m tempted not to do it coz I know I’d end up buying it
Decisions decisions! How about trying REMUS or AKRAPOVIC ??
Masa Ishimitsu maybe on try 6 or 7? Hehe
That see that jack stand being put to work was just mesmerizing. Can't you have the exhaust flaps extended to make it work.
I was thinking about it but it would have been too much work
why do you change so much of muffler? Are you looking for a particular sound?
Gatecar yes. I want deep and loud with flaps open and quiet with them closed.
Tommy L Garage and why not the M-Performance exhaust?? Don’t you like it??
Not trying to tell you to put the Dinan back.... but mine is literally cool to the touch after hard driving - I wouldn't be too concerned with Carbon Fiber, it can take some serious heat.
But they didn’t stick out too much too. Looked funny
Tommy L Garage I actually kinda liked it 😂 all good man glad you got something you like! / can’t wait for #5 😊
what diffuser do you have?? looks good!
I forgot who made it but it’s no longer produced :(
one last question for you what front lip did you have that you said in a previous video it was flexible when you scrape made of polyurethane if im not wrong where is it from?thanks for your time by the way amazing videos !
Did you back your car onto the ramps? Did u scrape the lip?
Nahluwalia94 yes I did. And no I did not scrape the lip. It was fine. I can’t ride onto the front though - I just jack up the car
Get a AWE Track Exhaust it’s the best sounding exhaust on the market for M4. And I would go for the resonated version. BTW it sounds like a V8 and the downshifts sound amazing too.
So Activ isn’t AWE track just a straight pipe?
Yes unless it’s the switch path
How much would you be selling the dinan exhaust for? I’m local in jersey.
Always In Motion sold already sorry. Follow me on IG if you ever want a jump on deals like that
Great video as always!!
Asif Hirji thanks!
Haaaa you are crazy Tommy! I love it!!!
m3summ Someone has to be! :)
What u think about the Akrapovic Exhaust for ur M4
Don’t like it. Too expensive and too quiet
When is the catless downpipe coming?
It’s Ripped I don’t think I can do it. I have little kids and want them breathing clean air
Side note: Are you on the stock crank hub?
edward7 yes sir. Also stock tune so I should be okay.
@@TommyLGarage I've heard people spin their CH on stock everything. It worries me lol
Parkway traffic is lovely, isn't it?
Haha good eye
I think downpipes would solve all your issues
RanchyRansel but I need clean exhaust smell around me. I’ve got a 3 year old and another one on the way. Air has to be clean
Tommy L Garage They make hi-flow catted downpipes
Tommy L Garage or put the secondary cats back on and put on downpipes and have a different rear section boom problems solved
How do you not have exhaust leaks With those clamps.
They seal very well
Educating as always
F80 5199 thanks. Hopefully someone won’t make the same mistake :)
How would you compare this exhaust to the MPE on a ZCP?
Lindsey Pearson MPE sounds a lot better
For someone shopping for a M3, your quest to make this sound right is making me a little nervous! LOL it’s a shame BMW could not get it right the first few times.
clubracer6 totally agreed. The exhaust sound is the worst thing about this car.
your awesome dude very cool videos !!!!

I don't want to speak for him, but I'm sure he wouldn't be a fan they are way too loud, and he's not going for the loudest exhaust.
