A vehicle, that plunges into water, is completely submerged to the roof in just seconds. Water infiltrates the vehicle in barely 1 minute, 2 max. Can’t open the doors while there’s still air in the vehicle because the weight of the water pushes all doors closed tight and windshields are inoperable. The only time when people could open the doors is to wait till the vehicle is almost full of water, which is at freezing(?) temperature, and by that time, the vehicle is already at the bottom of the river (hypothermia kills people in less than 4 minutes on average and how fast it sets in, depends on water temperature and body constitution). If you don’t have something to brake the windshields to get out in time (during the timeframe when the vehicle is starting to sink). Well, good luck going against all odds

300,000 ton container ship hitting something even at 1mph is a lot of energy. if the deformation of the impact is assumed to be 3 ft, the average energy of the impact is around 32 million Newtons, which can be visualized as placing 7.2 million lbs across the support column for every MPH velocity.. The ship was moving at about 9mph according to the governor of the state's press release. so visualize that as hanging 64 million lbs across that support column (which is not where the engineering would have predicted that kind of loading btw), there isn't a bridge on earth that could survive that. people have no concept of how much weight 300 000 tons is. the bridge might as well have been made of straw for all its worth against that kind of energy.

When you look at how the ship was almost centred on the bridge support and that there were numerous lights shining from the port behind so the bridge would have been well illuminated, this seems very suspicious. I'm not yet convinced that this was an accident.
who cares what you are convinced about? People on scene stated it looked like the power failed on the ship and authorities have ruled out (rather quickly) that this was an act of terrorism. It was clearly a tragic accident.

A very heavy cargo ship crashed into one of the supporting pillars. When my great dane crashed into one of my legs I fell down too.
It was an old Bridge and the cargo ship 🚢 probably weighed several hundred tons while moving at velocity. Nothing is built to last forever Ryan.

yeah, that's kind of how large span bridges work. it lasted almost 50 years before someone rammed a container ship into it. i suppose WTC was a bad design too since each one could be taken down by an airliner flying into it. just express your pointless sympathies and worry about the things you know about like picking up dog turds or something.
