1967. I was ten. The Leafs won the Stanley Cup. Not since. I am now 67 and waiting. I can’t make it to 2067.
I think it's optimistic to think the Leafs will win by 2067.

The Leafs aren’t built for the playoffs. Average defence, average goaltending, with four finesse forwards, is not the template for playoff success. The leafs lack the depth, defence and goaltending required to win the Cup. Period!
Great segment. Forgot about Keefe's 'they kicked our ass but at least they respect us.' Also forgot about Marner's "we got years left on our contract" (so you can't fire us even if you want to). Lotta low moments!

I keep hearing about the Leafs rivalry with the Bruins. The Leafs have not won a playoff series against the Bruins in 76 YEARS! That's not a rivalry, that's a massacre!!!
@@lpquagmire3621 definition of lopsided is a start. As a Bruins fan my one rival is Montreal Canadiens. Leafs are more an annoyance than a rivalry.
Not expecting much in the playoffs as was demonstrated tonight. I was born in 1953. I am looking forward to the start of the season in October and the moves that are made in the summer to make the team capable of winning a Stanley Cup. Does any know if Tavares contract is up July 1st this year? Marner do you sign him before July 1st with a movement clause and trade him or let him walk?
What is so so obvious to non-Leafs fans is not obvious at all to the actual TML fan. Your team, the entire team, is hyped to the max each year by the Toronto media. The fans believe. The actual team on the ice does not even resemble the super hero powers of the media team. Hence the continual losses and the inability to even be in a Cup final for the last 57 years, let alone win the Stanley Cup. This year, well the carousel keeps on turning.
After watching the game on Saturday I got not expectations on them. I couldn't believe once again how bad they played

At least they have a lot of practice handling those press conferences so they are completely prepared in a week and a half when they try to explain why they lost Boston in 4.
If I learn anything about being a Leaf fan I learn not to have any expectations. Very little optimism and kick back with a cold one 🍺

I told a customer years ago, the leafs will never win a cup with matthews, mariner and nylander. Boston will win series in 5 to 6 games.
I think it'll be game 7, in ot...but end result is the same. Boston wins.
I agree, I think Boston will handle them easier than in prior years. 5 or 6 that's my pick too. 7 is for years when Leafs had a chance.
Willy and Mitch are very similar. Neither one hits, neither one is good in physical games, etc. Can't have both.
JT also hurts. If you swap out someone like Petro for JT and offer him 11m, you have a better team.
@@people3865 It explains I think why the Leafs are very good in the regular season when close checking isn't the norm. Then come playoffs, the core 4 are just out of their league next to power forward checking "in your face" types (like Florida has, who can ramp up the skill AND physical intensity).
@@swavekbu4959 I have to give that one to Mathews. Early in his career he was kind of floating around, but the last couple series' he had a more physical edge to his game.
Mo as well will actually get a bit dirty at times. Willy and Mitch want yo play euro hockey.

The Leaf Executives have screwed up big time - by not upgrading the Core 4 all these years.
There are only 9 players in the NHL that have $11 Million contracts, and only 1 (Matthews) of the 4 Leafs that has an $11 Million is worthy.
Leafs Executives have provided good value in the regular season - with only playoff disappointments. The Leafs Core 4 do not thrive with playoff officiating.😀

@@Rooz247 Yzerman was coached to score less by Scottie - so the team could win. It happened. It takes on average 16 years for the average team to 1) get to the Finals and 2) win a playoff round every 4 years and 3) to get to a conference final every 8 years.
The Leafs only have one playoff round in 20 years. Detroit with Stevie had won a Stanley Cup within 16 years.
Leafs have gone without a Stanley Cup in almost 60 years. So why even compare the Leafs to the Wings? 😀

He only has one first round series win & zero playoff runs in 8 years. 😀 From your numbers Wings won 4 rounds in 11 years. If the Core 4 continue as is - it will take Matthews 32 years to win 4 first rounds - while it only took the Wings 11 years. 😀
