    Great vid! That particular Honda part number is discontinued here in the states, so Honda is no longer selling it. There are many different aftermarket replacements available. You might even find the original Honda part number available on Ebay.

    • @piercedasian
      @piercedasian  2 роки тому +2

      Honda likely uses the same first portion of the part number but it may now end in something like A04 or A05 to denote the "generation" and supplier it comes from. I'm inclined to the use the latest revisions from Honda b/c of possible design improvements. Either way, the spool valve is quite expensive here in Canada.

    Nice clear how-to!
    Just a minor nitpick here: VTC isn't formerly known as VTEC or vice-versa, they're two separate systems. VTEC engages a second set of cam rockers to change the valve duration on the fly. VTC shifts the phase of the cam sprocket on the camshaft to adjust the valve timing (not duration).
    The VTC valve is a separate thing that's near the passenger side engine mount, with its filter screen being around the belt tensioner. The associated codes are, I think, around P1009.
    What you replaced, and what the P2646/2647 codes are for, is the VTEC system. P2646 (but not P2647) can be caused by just low oil level so that should be the first thing to check in that case. It can also be caused by a bad switch, which happens often enough that Honda even has a TSB suggesting that in the absence of other symptoms, to just replace the switch rather than do further diagnosis for a P2646. When there's stuttering and jerking together with the codes though, replacing the whole assembly as you did is appropriate.

      yep actually as a non expert/mechanic this video cleared it for me ua-cam.com/video/30JRyJaJMXQ/v-deo.html.
      And i have a question for you Luns Tee if you may, my car a 2014 crv automatic awd, on every gear when i reached 5k rpm , it is like it loses a lot of power it is like a rev limiter engages on it, no code is showing up , more then 5 mechanics didn't figure out, so waht do you think is it related to vtc or vtec. thanks

    Does this make noises when they go bad , would of been nice to hear it running before it was taking apart so I know if it makes a noise and if like my 2010 CR-V 2.4L now. Only code was down stream low bank 1 and the both 02 sensors has been replaced as I was told one was the cause so I replaced both knowing there new like spark plugs. I replace extra stuff if needed at some point. So get it done at once.

    • @piercedasian
      @piercedasian  Рік тому

      no they don't make any noise at all that one could ever hear. If you get low bank 1 and your oil level is full then there is a good chance this spool valve is toast. Its a VERY VERY common failure point on this motor. I just did another on the same car just 3 weeks ago and it was on its 2nd spool valve in less than 3 years! Unbelievable!
