Since the posting of this video, there have been firmware updates to the GrilleyePro Plus that have made connectivity an issue. When they added "CLOUD" accessibility some units seem to have lost any ability to communicate with the smartphone application. Everything below was true 2 years ago but has since stopped being accurate. Because of that, unless we can get ours fixed when working with their support we will be taking this positive review down.
This is an upgraded version of the Grilleye Bluetooth thermometer that we reviewed in the past. That thermometer ended up being our main probe thermometer for most of our outdoor cooking and smoking and with the new an improved features of the Pro Plus I have a feeling we will be switching over to this one.
The Pro Plus has ports for up to 8 probe thermometers and yes the probes that you had for your Grilleye Smart Bluetooth Thermometer will work with this as well. As you plug in more probes the screen automatically splits and displays all of the probes current temperature, target temperature and the preset or custom name you can apply to it. It also comes with these two clips to turn any probe thermometer into an ambient thermometer which is a great carryover feature from the original.
Once a probe has met it's target temperature it will trigger an alarm on your smart phone telling you it is done. I had the App open in the background and bluetooth headphones in and it stopped what I was listening to and alerted me that my food was done. Once I hit Dismiss the alarm went away and I was able to go back and remove the pork loin whenever I wanted to.
The back of the unit has a magnetic mount to keep it safely secured to your grill or smoker and you can rotate the display portion to work around any glare issues that you might have. The Pro Plus has an internal battery that you charge through an included USB chord. A full charge will take about 2 1/2 hours and can run as long as 48 hours on a single charge. If you forgot to charge it between uses the unit can be used while charging.
Downloading the new App from the App store was simple. Pairing it to your phone via the bluetooth was automatic and setting it up for wifi is all taken care of through the app on your phone, just select the network, enter the password and you are connected.

How much did this guy get paid by GrillEye? He forgot to mention the false advertisement about “limitless range” with WiFi. They don’t clarify that that only means limitless range within the parameters of your WiFi network- meaning your house. Either way- I’m connected to the WiFi but the thermometer won’t jump to WiFi- can’t even monitor temp in bed. Thought I would be able to Monroe temps from anywhere in the world with this device but wrong. That’s what I understood when I bought this product. WiFi or not- 30 feet is an unacceptable Bluetooth range. ****UPDATE- ok- go to settings on the app and download the firmware update if you have any of the problems I was complaining about. Suddenly WiFi works and a cloud feature looks like I can check the temp from anywhere in the world
bought at costco. When it works, it's great. When it doesn't.....sigh. It stinks. Wifi drops, firmware issues, alarms going off, bluetooth distance stinks, just ongoing. returning.
Yeah- this thing is pretty intermittent. Works great for a while and then can’t keep a connection
Had trouble making connection at first and contacted customer service. Upgraded the firmware and that fixed it with a lot of tender care. First brisket cooking experience was as advertised. Since then it randomly switches from F to C degrees and then back, can't find blue tooth, can't find WiFi. This product has a lot of potential but it's not quite there yet.
The fact that it defaults to C° instead of F° if you don't connect to your phone is an annoyance for sure!
Love that this is WiFi that’s pretty swiftly.
What's the highest temperature in side the BBQ the probe can read
does the wifi work anywhere your phone is connected to wifi or has cell service or does it have to be on the same network?

Grilleye is saying to continue monitoring temps when you leave the wifi network, you have to have it set up with a VPN. Is this your experience? Or did the CS rep on their Facebook page not know what they were talking about?

You should rethink this review. There are errors and inconsistencies all over the place. Bought the pro at costco and about to return. Constant errors in connections, updating, firmware errors, graph errors, bluetooth connections, on and on and on. For this price, I could just hire a chef. Sigh. returning.
Have you upgraded to the newest firmware? We don't have issues with our connection and we walk all around our building with it. Now, we haven't used the graph but once we upgraded firmware to the one where we can connect from anywhere we haven't had issues.
Yep, I've been on the updated firmware the entire time as soon as I got it. Even yesterday during a long pork shoulder smoke, it was incredibly buggy. Losing connection, not switching between wifi and Bluetooth, not saving settings (or not updating settings on the grilleye), and so forth. The graph wouldn't update at times and once I went out of range and came back in, the graph wouldn't update anymore. I had to turn it off then back on. Lost all my data. Again, not worth the price with these many bugs.
