I was an impressionable and sensitive kid during Reagan's Presidency. His speeches and huge optimism helped me see the stars and convinced me I was truly blessed to be an American. That's huge. God rest his soul.

I joined the United States Navy just three months prior to this speech. It was a time of great pride as America was in the midst of reclaiming its leadership role in the world, and taking action to confront, not just contain Communism. Reagan was indeed, "The Great Communicator".

Even after 36 years, this event speaks volumes. This occurred during a time of patriotism, a time when things were less divided than they are now, a time where we could gather as Americans without the name-calling and pointless bickering, a time when America actually stood for something. Happy 4th of July!! 🎆 🇺🇸

Being born in 87, I wish I grew up in this America than the one we have today, but still hope this kind of patriotism will come back to the masses one day.

Reagan will always be "my" President. 8 years (2 terms) felt like an eternity when I was a young kid, and he was a huge presence & influence during my formative years. He restored American pride, and I felt (still do) incredibly fortunate and very grateful to have been born in this country. Sadly, I know his soul is weeping, as he can only helplessly watch what is happening, as the American identity he restored has virtually become non existent. The very fabric of our society, our bonds of American brotherhood, the safety and security that ran through our veins & allowed us to pursue our happiness, the integrity of our institutions, our trust in them & in each other, and our dedication to staying true and faithful to our founding principles & the Constitution being the key to preserving our way of life, are all in serious danger of crumbling beneath our feet. And he tried to warn us. He was a very intelligent man, and his words couldn't have been more on the mark. The only real danger, the only permanent threat to our freedoms and our way of life, comes from within. And from within it has come. I used to be an Independent, respecting & recognizing the ideals & principles of both Republican & Democrat philosophies. Only one of them has stayed true to it's principles, and it is the only party that can call still proudly call itself AMERICAN. And I have no shame in saying that the tactics used by these snakes in power today have disgusted me right down to the core of my being, as they lit every one of these fires burning today, and continue to fan their flames. And I believe they belong in prison. I hope to see it happen. 2022 is going to see a red tsunami, because if a mild mannered, moderate thinking centrist like myself has been affected so profoundly by what is happening, then I know there are hordes upon hordes of others feeling it too. There is one aspect of American society that they cannot reach, cannot take away from us, and just as those who opposed us in the past have done, they are severely underestimating: The will of the American people to stand up and fight for what we believe in, what we hold dear, and to preserve for our children: our way of life. I am, and forever will be, proud to be AN AMERICAN.

I have a replica Declaration of Independence and a constitution hung on my wall. I love this country but hate what it’s becoming. I will teach my kids to uphold the values of America even if the America we know no longer exists. I hope we change the government even if it’s by force as the declaration says

The greatest moment of Reagan's Presidency. The USA was blessed we had him as President, during this time. That year, we celebrated the Statue of Liberty's 100th Birthday. The next year, we celebrated the U.S. Constitution's 200th Birthday.
