@@geopolitics8709 more accessable public transport. Literally, any solution of urban planning problems always comes out as public transport. Now, I shall give you a personal example, last year I had to go for an exam for online certification at a certain spot in Kolkata, I had to take my personal vehicle there and look for a place to park. This year a new metro line has been open at that spot and when I needed to access the venue again this year, I didn’t had to take my vehicle.
I grew up in Varanasi, and in the inner core of the city is always packed, due to heavy influx of tourists and large local population. It seems impossible to decongest that area. But in this country we have a fine example, the delhi metro helped a lot to decongest Chowri Bazar, Nayi Sadak in old delhi. Almost all European cities promote public transportation, cycle lanes and pedestrian crossings. If i have to show an extreme example, the tram system in Lisbon is one of a kind, tram network running in narrow alleyways that has only few inches of clear space left on sides when these trams pass.but this network works and helps a great deal to congest the cities. If we have to make our cities beautiful we have to: • Make our mobility better, promote public transportation; • Uniform urban landscape (like chandani chowk redevelopment); • Better our sense of planning spaces (mixed use development); • Proficient Urban design; I believe India can easily achieve this, we just need to enforce our urban laws, and for urbanism we must not follow America Europe would be a better role model for india.
Really? Because the dude has literally no idea how and why the local trains are crowded in Mumbai. These locals are crowded because of people coming in and leaving Mumbai daily from North side (Virar, NSP, Vasai) and not within Mumbai. These roads will do nothing to alleviate the pressure on Mumbai locals.
@@dr.python droneman is good. Iam also fan of his videos but he makes good pictures and cinematographic videos but he does not do presentations which KOD is above everybody else
Thank you Ji iss baat pe charcha karne ke liye. Glad to see someone is talking about the importance of mixed use developement, walkability and public transport in India. Fellow "Not Just Bikes" here.
What a wonderful video! Even a child or a person without knowledge of Mumbai city can understand your explanation! Superb presentation, keep up the great work.
I have to say I have not seen such absolutely first rate graphics, brilliant explanation of complex infrastructure projects seamless mix with video and incredible editing and an eye for detail, anywhere except your channel. I wish you would update this with cost and timelines which Indian projects never meet.
Good to see finally some infrastructure is being completed in Mumbai....I hope though that they think of pedestrian rights.... years ago I was trying to cross a road with my aged mother to visit the US consulate, and a stupid taxi driver almost ran us down
Only urbanists and transportation engineers know what blunder they are making. They are more congesting the south Mumbai which is already congested. This decision is influenced by the elite class having offices or houses in south Mumbai. But Mumbai Trans Harbour Link is essential.
I was thinking the same thing. It will make everything so congested. We need super highways like China because they have the same population and its working well for them.
Superb Presentation. Agreed that Public transportation should be developed rather than coastal roads that too on reclaimed land. This is surely going to affect Mumbai in the long run. All this done to satisfy the people with cars and just show infra development. Politics rules than the real facility for the common man. 21.20
ipproving the trains by giving more tacks to each line would be a massive boost to the city. They should really do it. And expand the train far into the suburbs with links to the metro
I would like to add a few things too. People need strict laws for road travel and education on every platform to make people aware of things like, say, how to use a roundabout on a road intersection. In india(specially mumbai), if someone wants to take right(3rd exit) from a roundabout, they would drive from the right side of the roundabout instead of going from the left side first, and then turn along the roundabout. Another example, that people need to maintain lanes. If one has to take a right turn, they need to be on the right most lane first instead of taking a turn from The left most turn and disturbing the flow of traffic. I think, signal countdown should be removed just like other places like Australia. Why? Because people are impatient and they start moving forward the moment timer crosses 10..9..8..7.. People should only move when the light turns green, Period. Blowing horn should be controlled(in case of india, it should not be allowed- special scenario excluded) The roads should be noise free. Here people honk their horns for no reason. People should only stop at the red light behind the white line. In mumbai, these bikers will stop way beyond the white line, and hence, cause trouble to those who are coming from the other direction. This should be applied to autos and other 4 wheelers. I think, the governments and construction companies should consider doing a tour around the cities like Perth, Australia to collect information regarding their infrastructure. There is a lot to be learnt. The things they construct, the way people behave on the roads. The road traffic should be organised and controlled. Changing lanes without indication should be chargeable. Only in south mumbai, you will find that at certain signals, people stop behind the white line. But rest of the mumbai is just CHAOS. Auto drivers drive as if there is no such thing as law, ethics and common sense. They drive as if they own the road. Good education is required among the auto drivers so that they drive like a civilised manner. Most importantly, mumbai has everything but car parking lots and bays for: parallel parking along side roads, perpendicular parking lots and bays. I agree that building new infrastructure is crucial, BUT sometimes, how people behave on the road, affects very much. Most of the issues in mumbai traffic are caused not by lack of infrastructure, but lack of ethics and education and strict laws on roads.
Nice video, there is no better alternate to efficient public transport. In the past we build things unplanned and now mostly copying US styled infrastructure. Another issue is how put some road sense among people. The way we Indians drive is very dangerous to cyclists and pedestrians. It is not wrong to say that every one is in a hurry but no one is on time.
our govt need a good planning team like this narrator. the only issue is these govt officials are not recruited on merit. rather over crowding mumbai, other state govts should increase their own state's potential with high earning opportunities and not just improve their infra. have seen many cities in other states have the best infra but all the natives flocked to mumbai and they never utilize that infra.
Superb explanation…fantastic presentation.. but u mixed two subjects …we watched video to see coastal road but u added other topics too such as “are these infrastructure project useful for decreasing traffic in future
the "Coast" in Mumbai from Marine lines to Kandivli is in the WEST. There is no coast in Kandivli east. so yes the Coastal road will end up in Kandivali WEST !!
13:18 most of the cities in Europe(specially in countries like Italy , Spain,Germany , France ,Poland ,etc were built with this planning and that too in long years ago.
As an architect, and a person who has studied urban planning, you have great grasp of all aspects of about urban planning. Really great presentation.
Yeah bro I enjoyed throughout the video. It was a great learning video.
What should India needs to do to remove Parkings from Cities ?
Humare desh ke log kahi bhi Park kr dete hai

Well what mumbai needs is population control
Loving the urban planning add on. This word needs to reach the masses in india.
Excellent work

its good to find a channel who talks about urban planning in Hindi, people will be more aware now
More Indians need to be given awareness about urban planning and design.

Excellent work, excellent animation.
Keep going. God bless you ❤
Very professional and informative video, 👏. This deserves to be presentable by the MMRDA or BMC for their work updates.
well planned video and well researched as well. good job dude!! you deserve more subscribers!
Good video. Keep building roads, traffic will increase. Why is so much money being spent just to increase traffic to South Mumbai?
Yup America is the perfect example of how car based infrastructure isn't the solution to traffic problem
More and more trains,metro pls
Tere ghar tak bhi road ny bnna chahiye
Sabaas! Waah kya soch h
To tere ghar ki bhi road tod dete h chamche
Simple , provide efficient public transit , the BEST buses aren't enough, we need metros, or brt system like Jakarta
Mumbai needs more roads AND public transport. Existence of one does not negate the need of the other.
