Konkan Railway line was made possible because of George Fernandes then Railway minister of India , Madhu Dandavate then Finance minister of India and Ramakrishna Hegde former chief minister of Karnataka state by forming Konkan Railway Corporation Limited in 1990 to finance the project as Indian Railways did not have funds to execute Konkan Railway line from Roha in Maharashtra state to Thokur in Karnataka state. Else this dream of people of west coast would not have fulfilled. Whole railway line was completed in 1998 and first train ran complete length on 26 January 1998.

I am eye witness of construction of Konkan railway as rail line was right in front of my house in my childhood. And to tell you. It was not possible to construct by ordinary labours. These were super humans. Hard working. As I was told these were Keralites working in Goa.
I travel on this route many times , I'm from lko ,my college is NITK in Surathkal,Manglore so I mostly take train from lko to Mumbai and Mumbai to manglore... It is very beautiful train route specially in mansion season😍😍😍🥰

E Sreedharan was also advisor of Dhaka Metro's MRT Line 6 construction project. He suggested the government of Bangladesh to make MRT Line 6 elevated because it is less costly and people feel more comfortable using elevated metro.
In last, even Gujarat and Rajasthan too funded this project. There is also investment came from TN, Delhi. Other option was public bond for financing this project. All Project people worked Day N Night to complete this task, leaving everything behind. Not taken a Single leave. Such was a Dedication of each Employees of this project. One of my colleague worked in this for computers system installation. One of employee fell from the highest Viaduct, leg fractured who stays in my city. We used meet him every evening. Best timing to travel in this route is September to January. Full of Lush Green with Waterfalls. My dream to travel this route very soon.

For the last 20 years, I used to travel on this route ( from Delhi - Kerala), and is mesmerised by the beauty of Nature and the sight of Dooth sugar Waterfall. Always wondered how they built those 92 tunnels and so many bridges, where there was no roads to reach the construction site. The only minus point on this route is the frequent stopage of trains at local stations to allow other trains to pass ( as it is a single line track ). I used to travel by Rajdhani, Duranto, Samparkkranti trains, but between Panvel and Mangalore, these trains stops at least 15-20 stations ( unscheduled stations) to allow other trains to pass. Doubling the track is the only solution to over come this problem. But, doubling the track is impossible as how to build 92 more tunnels ( or widening those in use ), constructing 2000+ bridges etc. Anyway, I loved this route and avoided travelling in Kerala Express through MP, Maharashtra, Telungana and Tamil Nadu.

He was a retired man when he began working on Konkan Railway. Please brush your knowledge. He retired from Railways in 1990. He was retained for future works. Konkan Railways came after 1992.

The section for Swiss and mountain rail where you explain relevance of gradient and applicable technology is good too - please have such ‘possible solutions’ sections in other videos as well where there is a comparison with foreign projects. 3. I am sure you may be trying this already but anyway - you can try to make your videos more clickbaity, with such good videos I am sure your channel can grow more.

Kudos to Mr. Sreedharan. After finishing Metro in Delhi he was asked to construct Metro in Mumbai. He flatly refused since he knew Metro is useless in Mumbai. Many of the Experts in Mumbai requested the Government not to construct Metro but imprive transport system like train/bus. When constructing Metro in Delhimany potlicians wanted thei contracts to be on the iist. Mr. Sreedharan complained to Ms. Sheila Dixt then PM of Delhi. He instructed all her monisters not to interfere Mr. sreedharan work. Mr.Sreedhasran then undertook Konkan. The Cimpanies he choose Gammon and Afcons are the best. With their help he was able to construct Konkan railway without any hindrance.

Because of the crossings due to single track, most of the trains get delayed by atleast one hour. Doubling of the tracks should be given utmost priority.
But if you have noticed the famous mangalore express still running on icf coaches and 2 general class coach i guess its high time indian railway should upgrade it to lhb coaches with 4 general coaches two in front two at back i dont know what holding them doing such things
Netravati Express runs with modern LHB coaches. But both Matsyagandha and Mangalore Jn expresses have ICF coaches..that too very old. Netravati Express was rerouted thru' KR almost at the same time as Matsyagandha Express. This shows the apathy towards Kannadigas.

Icf chennai has started alloting Lhb coaches to TVC divn for Matsyagandha and maq TVC recently and still it has not been lhbfied yet . Our maq TVC express has more occupancy than matsya but still it runs with rusty old ugly yellow painted icf coaches and TVC divn is now focusing on their js , intercity trains to Lhb fiey since many trains are left for Lhb fication in Kerala unlike your swr divn which Lhbfies it's trains within a period of 5 months
