Bought one of these mats and it works a treat. Scarified the lawn, cut the grass, sowed the grass seed and used this to push the seed into contact with the grown. Will be adding some top dressing soon and using it again to level that out. Brilliant tip.

Just wanted to say a big thanks to you and your informative videos. Over the last few months, you've helped me completely rescue my lawn from some bad mistakes I made in March. I've also been reading some of your articles about toadstools/mushrooms in my lawn and it has set my mind at rest. Many thanks :)

Thank you for the tips, I'm in Birmingham uk but from Belfast area.. I've an aged garden I've been improving over years but your tips helped me loads ... pulled worst weeds/weed grasses... lowest setting mow, aggressive scarify.. brush in seed ( brush is brilliant!). Then brush in top dressing.. can't wait to see what it will look like in a few weeks!
    Wish I could send pictures!
    Thank you for your tips!

The drag mat is a great idea to help get seed to have better soil contact. I've tried to rake, but doing that to 20K sqft lawn takes forever. I would probably make my own with a 3'x5' rubber shop mat, the steal ones I have found are over $200 vs the rubber shop mat with rope is only $40.

Robbie, I have heavy clay soil and i’m wondering if you’d dig a load out and replace with better quality soil if you were doing a full replacement? I watched loads of seeding vids and found a good combination is to overseed and then cover with a fine layer of peat moss. Gives you the "soil contact" and stops dry out and protects seeds from the birds.

For people that don't have a compost spreader drum , and most of us don't, here is a non conventional alternative, it works well !! 😉 ua-cam.com/video/rAdOAF65Yuw/v-deo.html

Great video really informative and the links are great. I am just starting out with lawn care so trying to watch my budget. What sort of spreader would you recommend as some are several hundred pounds. Thanks Simon

@@Premier_lawns_official Thanks for the reply again, I found a link to buy directly, but wanted you to get some commission, so waited for your reply. Don’t suppose you use something similar where you do get commission?

@@Premier_lawns_official oh just thicker grass and a few bare patches I read about topdressing being a good place for seed to grow but not sure if I'm overthinking it with extra products .I've also got a net to protect against birds

Can you recommend somewhere to get grass seeds in the newtownabbey area? Keep up the great work!

Excellent as always Robbie. Drag mat is a genius tip. Is it ok to overseed a 7month old lawn in this way and use 9-7-7 lawnfeed at the same time or will that affect things and better to use a pre seed feed ? Atb

Hello my lawn guru. I have another question for you, is it necessary to top dress, fill in the holes everytime after aerating? Is it okay to just scarify, aerate, spread grass seeds and just fertilise?
