    Agreed on the fert, I threw down some last week right before we got that much needed rain, made a huge difference in color and growth. We've had a very dry summer in IL no doubt about it.

    Great video. New subscriber (just commented on the other "Mistakes folks make..." video. I over seeded my TTTF lawn on September 2. Added some amazing cultivars to my "Big Box Store" original seed. My story is a bit different....but short version is that the lawn - and I use that term "freely" here - was about 70% dirt and about 30% "green". Yes.....used specifically. Of the "green", likely 89% of that was weed. So, I killed the weeds and then seeded. I specifically and intentionally used the "Big Box Store" TTTF grass seed. Had decent results. Nice coverage, fair color, but suffered this summer (July and August in Lexington, NC are tough....). So, I over seeded. Used top-tier TTTF cultivars. Great results. Your video sums up nicely what folks can do to dramatically increase their success rate. Again, job well done.

    So nailing down the the just right watering routine has been my challenge with my overseed as well as fighting squirrels. I’ve been watering 2 to 3 times a day with hose end oscillating fan sprinklers and most of yard seems to be just the right amount of wet except for a couple of spots that get soggy even with just 10 minutes. I don’t know if that’s because those spots happen to be the more bare spots with peat moss covering or what. Thinking about just using the eye and touch test to determine if I need to water or not and possibly just hand watering because my front yard is less than 1k square feet and the back is about 2k. Thoughts?

    • @lakehouselawncare1755
      @lakehouselawncare1755  10 місяців тому

      Thanks for the comment. It could be a low spot that is collecting the water and causing the issue. Hand watering would definitely help with that issue but it's very time consuming. The squirrels are a huge pain but there's not much you can do about them other than getting a motion sensor sprinkler attachment.

    • @lakehouselawncare1755

      If the sod isn't rooted, you're better off just pulling all the dead sod out, leveling with some topsoil and starting fresh.
