I actually have this race on a VHS tape somewhere. (I had to leave the house and decided to tape it so I wouldn't miss it.) Race ran so long the tape ran out either right at or shortly before the finish. Luckily I got home just in time to see Reuitimann win. I honestly think NASCAR was so desperate to finish the event they just outright said "fuck it" with that last spin lol
Most cautions in my lifetime, The Hickory race in 92 was few months before I was born. But I do remember this race. I said New Hampshire was a demolition derby thanks to racing in the damp.
And even then, that was "only" 14 cautions.... This merely tied July 2002's race, though due to the rain tires being on and the slower pace, it took 20 minutes longer. TEN of the cautions came after the stage 2 end.

He just don't cut it for these heavy-ass stock cars, given his previous resume include single seaters in CART and IndyCar, as well as classic Class One DTM/ITC Touring Cars.
@RazorSharp75426 it seems that with the exception of Tony Stewart, and possibly Juan Pablo Montoya, the drivers from open wheel series like Indycar or F1 who raced in NASCAR in the late 1990's and 2000's really struggled with the heavy Cup Cars. Danica Patrick is another one who of course really struggled with NASCAR, other than out of the blue claiming Pole at Daytona for the 2013 Daytona 500
@@Dat-Mudkip he actually was going to return after the injury I believe but Chip Ganassi Racing lost sponsorship and had to shut down the #40 team. This was after having iirc Patrick Carpentier driving the car for a few weeks
I would’ve hated this race so much if I saw this live. But the only defense I when is that at least there wasn’t like +10 cautions almost every single race with a GWC
Memphis was always an interesting stand alone race for both Xfinity and Trucks. Shame neither SMI or ISC bought the track after Dover Motorsports sold it. It would've been cool to see some kind of Rocky Top challenge for drivers to compete during the season to see if they can win all 3 races at Bristol, Nashville, and Memphis
Ah yes, Memphis who kept switching the track name circuit. They had the weirdest grandstand layout out of any NASCAR oval track. The track never recovered after Dover drop this and sell this track along with Gateway and Nashville Superspeedway.
I’m curious now, I wonder what race has the most laps ran under caution. Not sure how easy of a statistic that would be to look up, but I’m genuinely interested in knowing. 117 laps under caution is just insane, and it’s hard to believe that any race would be capable of having many more than 125 laps under caution.
Idk if anyone else has tried it but magic spoon is not good. The cereal is soft and it has a terrible after taste. Not to mention the price is ridiculous.
Use my code BFM to get $5 off your delicious, high protein Magic Spoon cereal by clicking this link: https: //sponsr.is/magicspoon_bfm
the fact that they ran more laps under caution than green at some point during the race is actually impressive to a degree
Interesting to note that Brian Keselowski got his first and ONLY top 10 in Nascar overall here, finishing right behind his brother Brad.

How it all began for him.
Pace car led the most laps
I do remember watching this race. I just forgot Michael Mrucz was in this race causing all those yellows 😂
Knowing the way he drives I wouldn’t be surprised
In today's NASCAR: this is the greatest race of all time as long as it ends with a three wide photo finish and a flip in the fence
Ya got some hot takes. Bring your hot takes...!!
lol ignorant comment
25? That’s nothing…..now martinsville on an official iracing session…. Lol
nah when iracing does the bristol 500

"it's the race that never ends..."
The fact that Chase Austin was this chaotic in his few NASCAR starts is baffling

Longest green flag run: 19 Laps.
Green flag runs of at least 10 laps: 6
Wrecking 3 times and still staying in the race has to be some kind of record.
iirc Noah Gragson wrecked 5 times in the 2020 Roval race and finished, might be wrong though
2:10 is after the sponsor

It’s a good race if:
A good winner,
No Hendrick cars in the top 5,
Race doesn’t end under caution,
And a big one in stage three
But there wasn't a big one in stage three (or in this case late in the race)

Wow… So many busts in this video, no wonder this race was gonna be absolutely screwed!
If the 43 cars qualified for the 94 brickyard 400 it would’ve been a mess 💀
Dario Franchitti is definitely a NASCAR Bust. In 10 Cup Series starts in 2008, he had 0 Top 10's, an average finish of 34.3 and 2 DNQ's

Memphis seems like a cool Speedway.
I thought the 2005 Coca-Cola 600 set the record for most cautions in 1 race
Feel bad for the 71 bro is just trying to stay up front be keeps getting ran over
