I am am am ex-military parachutist and a skydiving instructor! My question is why in the world was the parachute not in place from the start? Looked like a very unnecessary safety risk Theron
Seems like it'd be way easier to set the rigging up to the balloon by using the chute, with no need for all that weird unnecessary stuff that could quite easily end in disaster. I just can't for the life of me understand why they thought that was the best available option.
It’s because they were going for a certain look of him being floated by the balloons with no parachute. The parachute on his back gives a whole different look and him having to strap a chute on at altitude is all part of the stunt. This whole operation is an unnecessary risk just like all of his other stunts
5:48 Seems like a very uncomfortable harness he's wearing. Why not arrange it so he's centered and sitting comfortably, instead of crooked like that? 16:20 And why struggle with the parachute aloft, instead of just wearing it from the beginning? Seems like a strangely planned stunt.
I think they purposely had him sit crooked like that so he would have that image of looking like he’s holding on to the balloons instead of harness on. It’s just Looks more better I guess
@@billyvang4658 Makes sense, and also explains why he didn't wear the parachute. If you show only the part when he's flying, it does look like he's holding on with hand.
Watching this help me get rid of my fear of heights. I’m lying I’m still afraid of heights. But this looks like an awesome joy ride that requires not being afraid of heights, breathing techniques, and the ability to use a parachute and land safely. Looked extremely safe with all the help and consistent communication.
Back in 1959, Joe Kittinger, a member of the USAF, went up to 102,800 feet above the Earth in a balloon and then parachuted back to Earth. What was so amazing about this is that he was the first person to see the curvature of the Earth and he was testing to see if space suits would work. Background: above 65,000 feet or so, the atmosphere is so thin that one has to wear a pressure suit to remain alive. No one knew if the pressure suits that had been designed and made for astronauts would work, so Joe Kittinger was the person that tested them. He then was a consultant for Felix Baumgartner and actually had to talk Felix through his space jump as Felix was freaking out at one point on the way up and almost tore his helmet off. This "stunt" by Blaine was extremely boring and did nothing except prove for the over one millionth time that objects less dense than air will rise.
Btw ... It's no surprise that they do not show him pulling up a helmet or shield to protect against the frost burn ... Really not impressed but his tricks rock

I'm startled how just watching that was a visceral experience. I feel a little rattled right now. Amazing feat of science, of biology, of mind body and spirit. I am humbled and in awe of your astounding accomplishment
I felt the same way. Beautifully expressed..
haha
I don't feel the same as these guys. I don't wanna blow you

The most impressive thing about this is how well he’s raised his daughter.
Considering HE hasn’t, his ex-wife raised her, I’d say, it seems to have worked out for the better.
Why would that be impressive? It is the responsibility to all parents to raise their children well. You don't get a trophy for that.
@@bigmacdaddy1234 well said.
@@bigmacdaddy1234 Are your kids as smart, polite, and well adjusted as his daughter? Probably not. And if they are, you deserve praise too. Parenting is hard and just because it’s a “responsibility” doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be praised when it’s done well. But this is the internet and there’s always going to be someone who thinks they’re clever by being contrarian...
@@trojanpony Oh lord, now we have to start giving parents trophies and praise for being good parents so that social justice warriors like yourself are appeased. Give me a break. As for my kids, they are doing just fine and I don't need or want praise for doing my job.
Que preciosidad de lugares gracias por mostrarnos esos lugares que yo nunca conocere.
You did it. You did it, Dad. She's such an adorable and mannerly little girl. He didn't let her down. He's a hero in her eyes....:)
Aqui no brasil um padre teve essa brilhante ideia de voar com esses balões, ele teve um fim trágico.
É verdade.
Well there's a bunch of time I can't get back, his Daughters excitement is the only thing cool about this whole video
Politicians and central bankers
I’m in stitches after reading some of the comments and then I get to yours. Thank you!
Man you're so edgy. You didn't like the video yet you watched an hour just to hear his daughter.... Kinda pedo
Holy shit this was terrifying to watch! BRAVO David! You are a VERY brave man! 👏🏾🙏🏾😌💕
I am am am ex-military parachutist and a skydiving instructor! My question is why in the world was the parachute not in place from the start? Looked like a very unnecessary safety risk
Theron
Seems like it'd be way easier to set the rigging up to the balloon by using the chute, with no need for all that weird unnecessary stuff that could quite easily end in disaster. I just can't for the life of me understand why they thought that was the best available option.
It’s because they were going for a certain look of him being floated by the balloons with no parachute. The parachute on his back gives a whole different look and him having to strap a chute on at altitude is all part of the stunt. This whole operation is an unnecessary risk just like all of his other stunts
Like most American television they have to create drama
Also maybe if your going for unnecessary risks you'd not do it at all
I’m sure it was only part of his bs stunt
This is one of the biggest dream that ever came true in real life. CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU DAVID AND YOUR SUPPORT TEAM!!!!
@@lifestory1947 that is true, it require connection or team work and money as it all come to expenses at the end.
I wondered the same thing.
@@billyvang4658 Makes sense, and also explains why he didn't wear the parachute. If you show only the part when he's flying, it does look like he's holding on with hand.
Has anyone ever released the balloons and descended with a Squirrel Suit?
That would be cool!
A wing suit? Wtf is a squrrile suit

O medo causa maiores danos do que todas humanidades juntas.tem que ter fé e seguir em frente.
Guy did this 50 years ago in a lawn chair and used a shot gun to shoot the balloons to get down .
YA he also killed himself so...you know there's that.
@@Johnnywhamo The flight was in 1982 and he committed suicide in 1993...so there's that.
@@unzarjones .....Sorry, yes I know that, I didn't mean to imply he died doing his stunt, I just meant the guy had some....issues.
His name is Harry Walters.
It was a pellet gun. The guy eventually took his own life.
You David are an amazing human being Houdini would be so proud of you 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Watching this help me get rid of my fear of heights. I’m lying I’m still afraid of heights. But this looks like an awesome joy ride that requires not being afraid of heights, breathing techniques, and the ability to use a parachute and land safely. Looked extremely safe with all the help and consistent communication.
Congratulation David Blaine, it was really a HEROIC ACT. YOU ARE GREAT AND ENDLESS PRAYERS FOR YOUR WHOLE FAMILY MEMBERS.
Heroic? Did he save someone's life? Come on.
WTF are you talking about?
This "stunt" by Blaine was extremely boring and did nothing except prove for the over one millionth time that objects less dense than air will rise.
... I still don't believe anything lighter than air will fly
Btw ... It's no surprise that they do not show him pulling up a helmet or shield to protect against the frost burn ... Really not impressed but his tricks rock
Next time fly into a net
Dude you can see the curvature of the Earth at every beach, even on bigger lakes like lake of constance lol
@@FMeyer-zg5mg I am talking about fully seeing the curvature of the Earth from space. but, I do agree with you.

@@Ole_CornPopthey’re all in on it? The little girl too? How deceitful would that be?!
I need a shower after watching that...I've got sweat coming out of every pore of my skin. That stunt took some bollox 👏👏
31:03 the lines going up and down that little monitor attached to his hands are caused by the refresh rate of that screen and the refresh rate or fps of the camera recording it...
The problem can be solved by synching up the fps and refresh rates between the camera and the device, which in this case would have aided in safety communications between ground team and Blaine.
Surprised nobody did that for them...
So what happened to the balloons and cameras ? When do we see the cameras attached to balloons detach and land at the airport. With or without power lines.
The balloons went higher and enough exploded to reach equilibrium. Now its space junk for R Branson to look out his 21 windows at.
Wow! Just outstanding!
Nice view of Page, AZ Airport and Lake Powell. Too bad it was a little hazy that day.
Risky adventure but worth it especially you landed back to earth alive and kicking!
