  • I have heard a lot of great things about Hill People Gear. I have seen their bags in reviews and social media posts. I have had some friends recommend Hill People Gear. But until now I had never had one of their packs. I waited too long...I should have gotten one sooner. So many trips taken with inferior bags. But today...the UTE. My new workhorse. I can't imagine using another pack for the bulk of my heavy duty work while I have this one. In this video we look at the UTE in detail and discuss all the features. I can definitely say...I recommend this pack!
    Did you like what you saw? Want your own UTE??

      Hey Todd! Glad to hear it! You're gonna love it. Just to make you aware... you'll be frustrated with it at first... but keep learning how to dial in the fit. Once you get it properly adjusted is going to be a fantastic pack for you. And it will always hold its value if you take care of it. High resale value. So almost like money in the bank.

    HPG has some of the best packs for backpackers. With the backpacking community seemingly all moving to ultralight for some godawful reason, I'm proud to rock my Umlindi with the PALS pocket strapped to the front of it along with my SAR kit bag and a prairie belt. Their gear is some of the best I have ever touched, and I will continue to throw my money at them as long as they are around.

    Getting the pack on is much easier with the old-school Army rucksack method, depending on the weight of the pack of course. Stand with the pack on the ground straps facing away from you (your feet are at the front of the pack), grab the pack itself through the straps, and hoist it over your head which gets the pack on your back and both straps on your shoulders. Not sure if you have used this method before but it is worth a shot, it is my go-to with full-size packs.

    Their packs are honestly phenomenal, and the components also integrate with their kit bags so everything has options, but I have like 5 other $400+ rucksacks that work fine for me at the moment. I really want the aston 3, with the beavertail, prairie belt and water bottle pouches

      Hello sir. I did get my V2 UTE. I love it. I love having the top pocket zipper pouch that's on the new version. It seems such a small addition but having quick access to my headlamp or keys or meds or phone etc etc etc is soooo nice.! Plus they have new colors configurations that r pleasant. But its a great pack seriously and now I have my eyes on the Qui Ya the bigger version 100liters. Such quality its...unmatched even by kifaru or mystery ranch standards. I own two decker frame packs by hill people gear. Their a build ur own backpack system. What u can do is endless to all the accessories hill people gear offers for the decker frame. They have all sorts of bags and pockets u can buy to make ur own backpack system for the decker frame. Its all built on the UTE frame. Me and hill people gear have emailed back and forth for a couple months and their customer service is unrivaled. I.had an issue one time with a bag and they gave it to me for free. Gave my money back and I was able to keep it. It was brand new. I had an issue with the size. But it was the owner of hill people gear that contacted me about it! He was great.! Anyways the company's gear and customer service is unbeatable and I truly mean that. I will only shop their gear now. But u wud love the version 2 the side water bottle pockets r now huge with a pull cord to tighten it down. U can fit two nalgenes in each side pocket. 4 nalgenes total. I love that. Their way bigger and with a pull cord to tighten it down...nice. But there is no molle under the lid. Instead under the lid its a full Velcro field to attach a pouch. I wish it was molle or Velcro molle. That is the one feature I don't like. I don't have any hook and loop pouches. All molle for me. So I'll have to buy a Velcro pouch for first aid or whatever. Well thankyou for listening!! I hope ur well and living blessed!!

    This is why I enjoy and thoroughly 100% like watching your videos. They’re detailed and make sense. It’s more like watching a good documentary. I love documentaries. You’re not afraid to do what it takes to explain something so it’s understood. To do that, it takes the proper amount of time. It’s not over edited. People rush too much and skim over things leaving out half of what needs to be explained while they half ass it and screw everything up. Your videos fly by. Now, I’m sold on this pack. I had no idea they laser cut anything on such a product. That to me is interesting. The technology, trade practices and procedures that are involved to manufacture a pack, to me, are interesting. Speaking of coffee, did you ever try the Stanley French press coffee mug? I saw it online yesterday and am going to watch a video I found on it. I think it’s like 40 ounces. Probably made for taking to work.

    • @outerlimitless
      @outerlimitless  3 роки тому +3

      Thanks man, I greatly appreciate that. I said from Day 1 that I was going to make reviews for people who are interested in purchasing the product and who needed the details to truly understand if it was the right choice. I'm not always perfect and can't catch everything, but I do try to be fairly complete. My videos are longer which makes me think my subscriber count is lower than if I did more glamorous, eye catching, and flashy quick hit videos, but that's not my style and my brain doesn't work that way...haha! I have a nice stainless Stanley set...you might have had a quick glimpse in my pack there. It's not a press...just a tall mug/pot with some plastic cups. Always need coffee in the bush!!

    Good video man. I have had one of these for awhile work and life got in the way and setting it up again with their tara pack on it as well. Thanks. Trying to decide on my setup. • @outerlimitless
      @outerlimitless  3 роки тому +1

      I'd say it depends on how much stuff you need to carry...if bulky and tight on space, the sleep roll would be on the top of the pack. If not too tight then definitely inside. But again, weather, and volume will dictate. It's a WONDERFUL pack!

    Thank you for your videos. I know you had reviewed both Eberlestock and Hill People Gear Companies. Trying to decide which one is going to be my next system.

    • @outerlimitless
      @outerlimitless  2 роки тому +1

      It's a tough call...both are awesome systems. My feeling is that the Eberlestock hits more of the aspects you would be looking for on average. The Hill People Gear is really high end stuff and I love it, but I think between the two the Eberlestock is more what you're used to in a way...and a little more user friendly. I LOVE the UTE, but it's a bit technical at times and almost overly complicated. Not a big deal, but just takes almost constant tweaking. Both are quite durable and carry well. When PERFECTLY adjusted the UTE is awesome....when off a bit things can rub or hang funny. The Eberlestock is far less fussy. Just my opinion. But both are fantastic.

    Constant movement of your load can't be a good idea. How do you find the load balance when crossing obstacles? I'm sure it's well made and the film was as usual brilliantly detailed and well presented but not for me. It reminded me of late 80's early 90's military prototypes which caused friction hot spots.

    • @outerlimitless
      @outerlimitless  3 роки тому +1

      The pack doesn’t shift, it is locked into your lumbar. If you loosen the load lifters you get more articulation in your upper body, because of the single point harness, but the load is still stabilized in your lumbar. You want to think of this pack as a large lumbar pack and that’s why it’s only padded in the lumbar region. The shoulder harness is mostly there to keep the pack from falling backwards. Everything about the pack is contoured to the body. From the shoulder harness to the hip belt. No hot spots at all.

      I have this very pack. The compression straps on the pack allow everything inside the pack to be cinched down...so no movement. It can also be pulled up tight against your shoulders with the load lifter straps for scrambling/climbing etc.
