FKA twigs is truly one of a kind. I cant express how talented and genius she is. Her vocals, her lyrics, her experimental production, her fashion, her dancing, her visuals. It’s all so amazing and next-level.
Gotta love when a artist is well-cultured and can articulate their emotions and thoughts thru their art for the masses to consume, digest, ponder and enjoy
I'm glad you caught onto the theme of women being ignored in history. The concept of Magdalene is about women in history always being attached to the story of a man as if that's all their worth. Mary Magdalene was argued to be a very powerful and wise woman and one of Jesus' best friends, but she was described as nothing more than the prostitute that followed jesus around. Cellophane is most likely written about Robert Patterson who Twigs was in a relationship with, but she got pestered by (racist) British tabloids for being an artsy relatively lesser known brown singer 'tainting' the image of the very famous top actor, who didn't do much to defend her.
That one line is what brought it full circle for me. I didn’t about Magdalene, but we know who history is written by. You’re right, I think I remember somewhere that they were dating. It’s trash people have to say racist things to people they don’t know or ever met, having so much hate in their heart to wish the worse upon them. Sucks she had to go thru that
This is one of my favorite albums of all time. It always takes me out of my own experiences and is truly escapism. Really excited for you to hear caprisongs it’s such an a energetic and ethereal album while being more mainstream.
Oou that sounds like a nice change of pace. I can’t wait for it too!

The first time i heard home with you, i had the exact same emotional reaction.
I adore this album it's just pure emotion transformed into songs
She conveys them so well
I never noticed just how recurring the fruit motif is throughout this album until you pointed it out! Like... It was always there, but I just never thought too much of it and thus didn't realize how genius it is, especially for the album's cohesion and continuity. Anyways, I love this reaction and of course, this album - I just got it on vinyl, along with LP1. (as well as So Sad, So Sexy by Lykke Li, which I'd also recommend reacting to!) Now, I'll finish watching the 2.5-hour Lana video, lol!

daybed is honestly so good i think people overlook it because musically it doesn’t feel as dynamic but man those lyrics are incredibly powerful and personal its a really beautiful track
It truly is, I agree with what you said, it’s a type of track depending on your mood and the situation you’re in so I get why it’s not played often but it’s amazing written
we will never forgive Robert Pattinson for breaking her heart but we ended up getting this beautiful album out of that pain :,)

FOR REALLL they are so good, specially home with you, cellophane and mirrored heart. In my opinion there are some of those live performances that are better than the studio versions
one of my fave albums ever! it feels like such full, well rounded project and plays with vulnerability in such a conceptual way. also daybed is 1000% one of the most underrated songs on here!

I loved this album, it really changed me as a person and how a perceive music. It’s an album I’ll carry with me forever. After reacting to this album u should react to her mixtape ‘Caprisongs’.
It shows a shift in her and her experimenting and executing many types of music and blending them well.
This album takes me to places where my feelings are free to fly in all the directions. It’s a beautiful, pure and raw work of art ❤ You should watch her perform live for Valentino 😩❤️

You must listen to Take Me Apart by Kelela!! It’s an experimental R&B masterpiece with some crazy production and even better vocals.
Fruits it's the pain she endured when she went through surgery and they removed kidney stones. When she came out of it she talked not wanting to do music anymore, and bearing fruit etc
It wasn’t kidney stones though it was cysts in her ovaries that could’ve developed into cancer but thankfully did not.

Also, I'm pretty sure this album is mostly inspired by her very public relationship with Robert Pattinson and the racist abuse she received from his fans, but Shia's probably one inspiration behind the lyrics, as well...

2:52 Prometheus is definitely an underrated and over hated film for sure. My family and a couple of friends would poke fun at me for liking it so much. Another film that I personally think is overrated is Southland Tales #SouthlandTales (also has 3 graphic novels that serve as prequel to it) from the creator of Donnie Darko and The Box.
You seem like the kind of open-minded person who could make sense of the film. It is full of A-list celebrities from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Amy Poehler, to Justin Timberlake , Mandy Moore and a bunch of others.
But, yea. Magdalene, this album, and Mary Magdalene, are legendary works of art.
