Wonderful album! These were my initial interpretations but they have kinda evolved and shifted as I’ve continued to listen and inform myself of the background. Hope y’all enjoy.
Tried to edit this down, but I could have edited it down more, but feel free to jump around lol.
You're my favorite youtuber right now :)
Girl, you did that. Amazing reaction video! You seem smart, kind and fun with good taste. Subscribed! Much love from Berlin ✌
Thank you ❤❤❤
“Robert Pattinson, not that it matters” ICONIC, subscribed ❤️❤️
Home with you was about her wanting to be with Robert, even though she wasn’t their for herself. She had to go through surgery and had tumors which in home with you she described as “Apple Cherries pain” it’s my favorite off the album along with fallen alien (if you like the production on the album you should definitely check her first LP out!)
Love your reactions! Would love to see what you think about Rina Sawayama's "Sawayama" It deals heavily with intergenerational trauma in a beautiful way, and I think you'd enjoy her songwriting!
I reacted to half of it and then had to tend to something so I’ll get to the other half eventually and upload lol!
@@sherthetruth Oh interesting! Thank you for letting me know!
Thank you for reacting to FKA Twig'd Magdalene. A true modern masterpiece. She put her heart and soul on the line to talk about her relationships, pain, inner turmoil, and her battle with fibroid tumors. The fact so many people are requesting you to review other female artists without even acknowledging FKA's work is frustrating. Yes, Taylor, Lana, Lorde and others are AMAZING. I'm their fan too BUT some of these people need to give FKA her credit too.
This type of treatment is why FKA suffered so much during her relationship with Robert Pattinson. The Twilight fans dismissed FKA because she wasn't the 'right' hue and he didn't stand up for her. Nasty, racist comments were made about her. Well, I'm standing up for FKA Twigs and her work. She's amazing and this project proves magic can be created from heartbreak.
I definitely will be continuing to follow her career from now on. She is incredible and very vulnerable in this album. It’s so sad how she was treated, but she’s so relentlessly creative. I am very inspired by this album. Thanks for your insights!
The “apples, cherries, pain” lyric in Home With You stems from when she had to take a break from music/performing, due to an ovarian cyst she had developed at the time, which was described as being able to grow to the size of an apple unless she had it removed. Robert and her grew further apart as she could not be her complete self romantically for about a year or two. Though she couldn’t perform romantically, she took lessons in pole dancing and became a literal expert at it, which she then debuted with in cellophane video. And also the Magdalene tour that came before the album came out :) true power move. Home with yoy is my fav song!!! Possibly one of my fav songs of all time too!
FKA twigs' writing abilities are unmatched. her way of speaking her true emotions and telling stories through her song lyrics are just so clever and beautifully made
Study Mary Magdalene. Jesus' right hand (wo)man. ; her story is so important. She basically was like a prophet
Yeah I definitely want to dive into the story more. I didn’t put too much info about her because I feel like I just barely touched on researching her and there was a lot of different information! Thanks for the suggestion 💕
I absolutely love your videos. Your analysis throughout the musics is so good. In my opinion, you’re one of the only reaction channel that seems to actually fully understand the lyrics and enjoy them as well. Absolutely gonna return to watch every single video of yours. Keep doing this amazing job, I hope you get the recognition you deserve!
Aw thank you so much. Means the world!
set my heart on fire immediately by perfume genius, hounds of love by kate bush, carrie and lowell by sufjan stevens and either/or by elliott smith are albums with insane lyrics
Phenomenal recommendations. Seconded.
please react to a lorde album or chromatica - lady gaga! that would be awesome!
PLEASE
I demand melodrama
@@earlisonline it is a NECESSITY lol
She has a Chromatica reaction, I think
@@frankoceanstanaccount7126 Oh yeah duh my bad 😂
React to Sevdaliza's new album!
React to Banks!
React to FROOT by Marina!
Bjork-vulnicura pls!!
your "fallen alien" reaction was absolutely IT for me
Daybed is SO underrated. I think it’s one of the most beautiful songs on the album. It’s packed with so much emotion and moves me to tears each time.
react to punisher by phoebe bridgers!!!!!!!!!! the lyricism is insane on this one too
I wish there was a way for you to see the concert version of this album. It was truly a theatrical piece that embodied every feeling she had for that album. Robert didn't defend her when people were being extremely racist towards her and it lead to him breaking up with her so she blamed herself. & then right afterward she had to go through multiple surgeries and whatnot. All of that played into this album.
Hands down one of the best albums of 2019.
You have taste, talent, charisma and you look like Rihanna. How does it feel to be god’s favorite?
I'm here after she came out about the physical abuse she had been going through with Shia, and Fallen Alien especially makes so much more sense now. That rage and anger in her vocals and production.
LOVE THIS! You should definitely check out/review Frank Ocean - Blonde. It’s a very beautiful, artistic album. hope you give it a shot! ❤️❤️
yes!!
I was gonna say. yes!!
I endorse this %100
100% this. YES
Please react to The Altar or III by BANKS her lyrics are beautiful 🥰
i love this so muchhh can you react to Florence and the machine's film - Odyssey? it's available on YT
Thanks I’ll look into it ⭐️
I love your reactions! This is one of my favorite artists/albums 💜 I'm so happy you reacted to it and liked it! I think you might also like Melodrama by Lorde or High As Hope by Florence (honestly any album by Florence lol) 💜
Sher is feeding us!! Love your in-depth reactions!
Daybed is about depression
This is one of my all-time favourite albums, the production and songwriting blows me away everytime. Thanks for your input, it gave me a new perspective on the piece again! :) Hope you have a great day 🌿
If I were you, I would definitely react to a Fiona Apple album (particularly The Idler Wheel). The WORDPLAY on that record!!! The one I reccomend to you highest. Each song is like an actual poem, although the production is very unique. The production is a little wild, free-spirit, haphazard. People either enjoy it or don't. Lorde's Pure Heroine (Extended), and Melodrama are both really good albums too. I think you'd really like Sade too or Tori Amos (she really uses a lot of storytelling). Vulnicura by Bjork also has the feeling that Magdalene has, but you've definitely got to be in the mood for it. The album is about her divorce from Matthew Barney, told from different time frames eventually leading up to the divorce, but the songs are lush and beautiful.
I actually mentioned vulnicura while listening but it wasn’t included. One of my favorite more recent bjork albums! I’ve been wanting to listen to more of Fiona Apple for sure. Great suggestions thank you!
@@sherthetruth yesss. Keep doing you. Love your channel. :)
@@sherthetruth I agree about Fiona. She is such a brilliant writer; a true master!!
"Fallen Alien": Oh!!! It just hit me hard: MAJOR Portishead vibes on this track (& woven throughout the rest of the album upon second listen)!! Vocals AND music!! Wow!! Sooo good!!! You should absolutely check out Portishead if you haven't yet!!
I think the "Mary Magdalene" track relates to the building awareness you referred to. Women are powerful, we can be, simultaneously, the "virgin," the "whore,'" and soooooo much more. Men really went to lengths to remove Magdalene's testament and Twigs, and WE, are here to reclaim it!! This is such an exceptional album!! Thanks so much for reviewing / reacting!!
MELODRAMA MELODRAMA MELODRAMA
Sis!! Thank you! I’ve been wanting to thoroughly discuss and dissect this album with someone. You were actively listening and reacted to both the sound and lyrics! Production! Production! Production! I cried to this album. It’s poetry. I’m subscribing! This is a review!!
YESSS YOU HAVE TASTE!! whens speak now reaction coming 🤩
I love your reactions so much!! your energy's so warm and im so grateful for your thoughts, your videos are helping me w stress and just bad moments in general, bc of the calmness u radiate. thank you and lots of love 💌
Thank you so much. Comments like these make my day 💕
Your reaction to Fallen Alien was ME the first time I heard it lol. Still hasn’t gotten old.
Should give Punisher by Phoebe Bridgers a try. Very up and coming lyricist.
Just an added note: by mirrored heart, she refers to the one who is a reflection of us :)
I recommend PANG! By Caroline Polachek. Hands down the best album of 2019 in my opinion. She has this amazing technique of creating songs that feel eerily familiar to the subconscious. The entire album is like opening the front door to a home you have not been to in years. DISCOVER YOURSELF!!!! REACT TO PANG!!!!!
Perfect description. Wow.
I'm currently watching this video, I've watched all of your reactions to lana tho, and always loved your words and how much you actually appreciate music and specially honeymoom lol. And also love that youre not pretentious but still so thoughtful and deep. But also I'm here to comment on how much rihanna vibes you're giving me with this look 😍😍😍😍. Haha anyways love your content!!!
Sad Day is one of my top favorite songs on the album. I would love to watch your reaction of the Sad Day Visual along with Mirrored Heart at the end that FKA Twigs made.
lorde has some really good lyrics too!!!
plz check out
I'm absolutely sure you're gonna love Melodrama if you react to it
fallen alien show some of the religious aspect of her
references in art and representation, in this song she creates a parallel with Lucifer's fall, as the archangel of light, but presenting himself as someone that is grey and dissembler under the true blazing light. She sees herself as a fallen creature too, but as an alien and not an angel, not welcomed in the heaven, hurted and now getting power after this devil's downfall. This ties with the recurrent feeling of being an outcast and diminished by her lover status, as a world famous actor, and she explores this in songs like thousand eyes and cellophane too.
mary magdalene the song is literally a feminist anthem...I TRANSCEND SOOOO HARD when i listen to that song omgeeeee.
My favorite lyric from this amazing album:
"I can imagine a world when my arms are embraced around you
I lie naked and pure
With intentions to clench you and take you
The city howls with a cry to seduce you
And claim you
So it's time
And it's a sad day for sure"
----SAD DAY, FKA Twiggs
Can you react to Florence + the Machine’s lyrics? ❤️
I wish more people would react to this amazing album... So underrated.
I just realized how ironic is that my favourite song is Mirrored Heart 💀 That person introduced me to FKA Twigs
Literally look like the album cover in the thumbnail
Try Sade ... Soldier of Love album ... Production, lyrics, etc. Are great
also love deluxe!!
Or Promise
would highly suggest listening to Melodrama by Lorde. Jack Antonoff produced both Magdalene as well as Melodrama. He also produced a bunch of Taylor Swift stuff. so if you like the production on this album i think you’ll like the production on melodrama as well. not to mention Lorde is such an amazing writer. Also just wanted to say that your reactions and videos are so light and calming and help me with my anxiety all the time.
after fallen alien, this album kills me, daybed has me on the floor lol
i would love for you to listen to emilie nicolas. i think you would love her lyrics and the envrionment she creates in her music. I would recommend, Wild Ones, Feel Fine, Higher Love, Grown up, Future, Melancholia
I’d LOVE for you to react to Safe Haven by Ruth B. The whole album is self written by her and she was in her early 20s when she wrote it.
It’s so true that you need time & distance before you can reflect on something so painful with enough clarity to turn it onto art. I’ve just recently been writing coherently and beautifully about a 6-yr relationship that was devastatinggggg when it ended, 8 years ago. I wrote about it before, but it just wasn’t that spectacular. It’s been sitting in a drawer because it’s not worth sharing.
Loved this reaction and your analysis :-) we share the same favourites from this album. The production on Mary Magdalene and Fallen Alien... I mean dang. Amazing!
Loved rihana reaction on this ablum🔥
can you react to sevdaliza - shabrang album
I would LOVE it if you took a listen to Sade's Soldier Of Love album in it's entirety. I know you will love it
i had same reaction when i first listened to fallen alien lmao
omg my new fave reaction. please react to pureheroine/melodrama too
i love your reaction ! you really look deep into the songs ... i recommend you the album Shabrang by Sevdaliza, it's kinda the FKA Twigs style uwu
also i feel like some of the songs like home with you are dedicated for herself, more than a relationship, because in the end of the music video a child (that represents fka) appears in a well, and fka adult is pulling her out, then she show the child an eye that is in her stomach. I feel that that song was about her and not having a good selfcare or a selfcare at all because her dependency on the relationship.
But honestly your thoghts made me saw the album in a whole other perspective, and it makes sense that is about her relationship with Robert. And also i think that she portrays herself as Mary Magdalene because of all the things that the media and the people were talking about her in that time.
react to arca babes
you should do fetch the bolt cutters by fiona apple
It’s more of a regular reaction but I did do and it’s still my top albums this year

LOVE YOUUUU
❤
Rina Sawayama - SAWAYAMA album is a modern masterpiece
If you like Kate Bush, you'd definitely like Caroline Polachek's album 'Pang'. Loved this react & now I'm interested in your reaction to it!
Love your reactions! You really need to do a reaction on Vulnicura by Bjork. The way she describes love, hurt and all those feelings when in a relationship. Gosh. Give it a try. ❤️
daybed first second:
'can we talk about the production?'
LOVE FKA TWIGS! You should do Lorde's Melodrama next
totally relate to you listening to mary magdalene and fallen alíen i was mindblowed. def my fav 2019 album along with all mirrors by angel olsen. u should react to it if u havent heard it :) and also PLS PLS PLS react to punisher by phoebe bridgers
Please react to Sleeping at last,it was a band, but now there is only one singer, and he has beautiful songs, with very poetic lyrics ... his songs appear a lot on TV series like Grey's Anatomy and the Vampire Diaries. I think you will not regret it, his songs are really beautiful, I cry with almost all of them.♡love your reactions!
could you please react to ‘LP1’ by twigs please 🥺
and for the lovers whove found a mirrored heart - those in relationships, people who have found love... Whenever she sees them it reminds her of him... Hue Hue 😥😥
So glad you came up in my recommended. Not only is your analysis very interesting to listen to, you’re a sweetheart. I’d love to see you react to Shabrang by Sevdaliza ♥️
I always thought "I've never seen a hero like me in a sci Fi" was about representation. She's quite open about the lack of representation and active repression of it in the entertainment industry. Idk why as it doesn't have anything to do with the theme of the song or album, just something I thought.
ur reactions are EVERYTHING! love it, u are the best
