On Performance

  • Most men know what is like to have concerns about performing in the bedroom.
    Or if they are young, they likely will at some point in their lifetime.
    Concerns about performance are so common, and they are a major block to attaining the type of pleasure in your body you want.
    My primary goal in this course around performance is to take it out of the equation.
    This can be challenging, because we have been trained to rate how we perform in so many things in life, and we definitely have been trained to do so around sex.
    So there is a paradox in this course.
    On one hand, I am here to teach you to gain skills that will, in fact, help you "perform" better in bed.
    But, we also are looking to take performance out of the picture.
    So what gives?
    Well, we need to learn to hold both of these at the same time, and continue to practice, even when things get tough.
    This is a good practice for relationships at large, and for life.
    One way to practice this is to notice the thoughts about performance, but to practice coming back into our bodies in the present moment. We don't need to change the thoughts, we just need to learn to let them be and not take them so seriously.
    This can take time to master, but it is very possible.
    Over time your skill improves in both lasting longer with more pleasure, and also dealing with the pesky performance-based thoughts and anxieties.
    Then, at some point, you will relax into the experience and not fight with yourself about it anymore.
    So, just stay on the path, enjoy it, stay present as much as possible, and when things get tough, just keep going.
    The only thing that will stop you from figuring it out is giving up.
    Enjoy, and stay present! Your whole life will change when you commit to doing that.
