Yes, that happened to me with Stitches, he had only been around for a couple weeks and then he had the DREADED thought bubble and asked to leave. I said hell, no, buddy, don’t even think about it. But to be fair, this was a few days after I had moved his home, and apparently if a villager is already bothered by something, moving their home may prompt them to ask to leave.
I had Murphy at my campsite and 2 days after getting him, he asked to move out (I said yes). It was in the first month of the game though so I’m assuming they changed that. But it used to be true.
I used to go to school with this guy who wasn't necessarily buff or strong, but he was the most scary, intimating kid ever. He was kind of a trouble maker so I didn't know him very well. One day I was talking Animal Crossing with my friends and he came over to us and went "hey." I thought he was going to make fun of us or heckle us but no, he asked for our friend codes and told us his favorite character was Kiki. 10/10 very heartwarming.

"Ignoring villagers doesn't work, the only way to get them to move out is to ignore them." I get what you meant but that was kind of worded in a confusing way.
I think the reason people thinks this works is because if they’re giving lots of attention to the villagers they want to stay, their friendship level will increase and leave the villager that has been ignored at the same level
I have a villager who just asked to move out and I've basically ignored them for the past two weeks. Maybe longer. I interacted with the when they moved in and a little bit after that, but decided I didn't really want them on my island so I just stopped interacting with them. Another is: "There will only be 3 more updates on Animal Crossing New Horizons before they stop selling and updating it" which is even more false as we have 0 clue on how many updates there will be, for example, there will *MORE THAN LIKELY* be a update with Brewster and *MORE THAN LIKELY* be a update with different food, last one that *MAY* be a update is Cooking under no circumstance there will be only 3 more updates as it is still a new-ish game and they will maybe still update it after like 10 years or even more! I know lots of other myths but I feel I have made this really long already, but for now, dont believe everything on the internet, it could be true but it may be false, stay safe, stay home, do the 5.
Asking a villager to stay but them refusing and still moving was a Uchi villager trait in new leaf, not in new horizons. This of course excludes the glitch mentioned above which only happened when you already allowed a villager to leave. Nintendo has confirmed 3 years of updates from launch. We’ve already had 2- and will continue to get seasonal and holidays. Idk who you are talking to, but they really don’t know what’s going on.
My boyfriend started playing AC before I did, he fell in love with it and then convinced me to get a switch to play with him! Now we play together every day, swap villagers, collect gifts for each other and help tidy each other’s islands 🥰
Speaking of villagers adopting catchphrases, so frita wanted to change her catchphrase so I made it " E " when she was talking to Whitney, she thought the catchphrase " E " was cool so she used it, when frita talked to Deena she thought the same thing about the catchphrase.
This is what's called confirmation bias, Alicorn. She addresses that on the video. Getting two lucky rolls doesn't prove that it works. Two lucky rolls in a row is not that rare.
DYK: With the King Tut mask you trip due to bad luck, if you wear the mask while swimming your villager will drown and reappear on land similar to how you spawn after getting stung by a scorpion or tarantula.
I was farming for Celeste, I have done it 30+ times to get DIY, I was Time Traveling the same day where Celeste comes. Just to remind you I DID IT 30+ TIMES, then I chopped down all of my trees. Then I came back to the same day. And didn't see her. I did multiple times and she didn't show up. So then I planted trees and she showed up. Hmm
I was actually introduced to the game by my boyfriend! He was suggesting the old games to me for like 2 years but I never picked one up until NH. I totally should have listened to him and started sooner, lol. He played all the games growing up.
2:30 not just New Leaf, Wild World and City Folk did so as well- I had to constantly work to keep them away from each other so their catchphrases didn't spread around town!
The one that annoys me to this day bc I still see it almost weekly in Facebook groups which is balloons are colour coordinated depending on their contents, like clay in red and furniture in green etc
things I have heard, Animal moved out with out you giving permission if they felt grumpy, The Otter didn't show up, and there is a glitch that can remove your flowers or randomly ad your friend's clothing to the custom designs at the tailors. Also Star trees have been patched out and glitched islands are banned from Dream codes.
so uh in new leaf, carmen gave me the nickname "pop star" and now fang calls me pop star as well because he apparently heard her calling me pop star at some point and was just like "hey uh can i call u pop star like carmen does" and i was like "sure why not" (also my villagers in new leaf have a tendency to adopt catchphrases from other villagers including initial catchphrases and i found out when a week or so after she moved in, carmen started saying bo peep instead of nougat because willow exists in my town)
I’m confused, on other myth debunking vids, they say hitting them with nets/pushing them will not help them move out but count as interaction and make them want to move in
Hitting them/pushing them until they get upset counts as an interaction but it does actually decrease friendship points, doesn't mean they will move out though because it's very easy to get those points back by interacting with them again. If you take a look at the link in the description for yuecrossing's Move Out Handbook, it explains it all there. :)
I’ve seen so many of my villagers take the others’ catchphrases, but as I’ve gotten all my villagers their catchphrases, the stealing has lessened from my experience. So now that I have most of their catchphrases it’s frustrating bc the two that DON’T have them will not ask me to change them.
Yeah even when you have a high best friend they will always keep pestering you about it which is why most people tend to let them move out. UGH! I wish the dialogue was not so repetitive.
Yay I needed this. I just finished crying through ten tissues and then I heard a ding and now I am already happy. EDIT: yes I am okay now I got in a family argument and I am sensitive. I went out and got ice cream.
4:54 Excuse me, what? I spent four hours time traveling to get my rocks where I wanted them, and then I looked up how to move rocks and found in an article that you can only have three rocks per acre. I then spent another six hours time traveling to get my rocks in a different location that would work after figuring out where that location would be. So you're telling me, that I wasted so much time for no real reason? 😫😭
Some things I have discovered: 1) Every day, provided you have enough non-fruit trees, 5 Wasp Nests, 2 Furniture Items, and 15 Bell coins will spawn from shaking non-fruit trees. 2) The game rewards you for having friends over for meteor showers by spawning an extra star fragment (as in beyond the normal 20 max) for every 5 meteors you let friends wish on your island. 3) The shovel will never break during the 10 second "hit the rock up to 8 times" timer. Obviously this was done so that you don't get interrupted while harvesting materials or bells from a rock. It still will reduce durability though so if you do this with several rocks, the moment you dig up something, plant something, or hit rock outside that 10 second timer your shovel will break. 4) flowers can't be planted in the sand, but won't grow in the sand 5) If you have a villager sitting on the floor or fishing and you want them to move, you can keep running at them and eventually they will get up.
i gotta admit, the nickname thing makes me so happy. the majority of my island is calling me 'pumpkin' right now, and it's the goddamn cutest. even the jocks are doing it.
Male player who is obsessed with the game since the original GameCube release here. Thanks for putting that annoying rumor in here because I can't stand this whole "This is a boys game"/"This is a girls game" nonsense.
the catphrase adapting thing explains something that happened to me in new leaf, when i had katt and rolf on my island, rolf's catchphrase was "grrolf" and soon that was katts too
Another thing I've seen that adds to making a villager move out is talking to them too much. So much that they get annoyed. After they give you a "sorry, I have something else to do" line, they'll stand there with a squiggly circle above their head
That rumor about only girls playing is bunk. I'm a dude who has played since it came out on GameCube. But I didn't know other Redds wouldn't sell you art if you already bought from a different one that day. I did learn the hard way that is how Celeste operates. Also a fun story is that I made my best friend into an AC fan years ago. He liked old-school RPGs so I explained that New Leaf was " An rpg without random battles." I also bought him a 3DSXL if he bought his own copy of New Leaf. It counted for two birthdays and a Christmas. Then for New Horizons he had pre-ordered his for digital download.
The one about rocks spawning behind buildings is true or has been patched because I had my Able sisters, a fence then a rock. Took me weeks to find it lol
I have Lucha on my island and his catchphrase is "Cacaw". I now have 4 other villagers using "Cacaw" as if Lucha taught it to them. I feel like Lucha is going around planning a coup or something. I must put a stop to it. This is like a horror movie.
i don’t give my villagers catchphrases because it is so annoying that they take it from each other without asking me because it won’t make sense and i want some personality, i don’t want everyone saying the same thing!
Villagers adopting catchphrases has been in the games since the Gamecube days. The only way to change their catchphrase again was to wait until they asked you, though. No way of resetting them manually if I remember correctly.
if your really trying to get rid of a villager and dont mind time traveling, keep time traveling till a day a villager wants to move out. if its not the villager you want, close the game and set the time for 4:59am then load in your save. at 5:00am isabelle should start her daily announcement and afterwards a new villager will be choosen to want to move out. repeat till you get the desired results. (you can set the time to 2pm so most villagers are outside and easier to find. sidenote: villagers wont ask to move out if their inside. they HAVE to be outside)
Note about number 3: other inhabitants of the island can buy from Redd the same day you do as well. I have multiple people on my island and if we find more than one genuine art piece on Redd's Trawler, we buy them all
#4 - I believe once you give a catchphrase to a villager yourself they will never adopt anyone else's. If you like the villager's default phrase it's worth still accepting the request to change and then just making an extremely small change such as capitalising the first letter or adding an extra "o" to "bloop" or something. It's possible you can even just type their catchphrase without changing it at all to make it stick.
2:42 i gave skye “shortcake” as her catchphrase (she likes to bake pastry). she chatted with marshal and were trading marshal traded his signed limited edition celebrity signature thing for her catchphrase. chrissy ended up chatting with skye and adopted it too now chrissy marshal and skye call me shortcake when marshal and skye had the conversation i didnt actually expect him to use the given catchphrase
The thing that scared me is that my villager Nibbles almost moved out. I’m so glad that she’s staying, because she’s my absolute favourite, including Daisy and Rocket.
When my resident talking to another says "That horror movie is aweso-wait...did you say "Catchphrase"?" I leave the game without saving. And my resident doesn't say it.
filbert wanted me to give me the nickname burrito. i loved it. about 1 month later he heard zucker call me spud and filbert wanted to use it. i said no because i love the nickname burrito. what made me sad is that he said, “oh, it’s okay i guess we’re not good enough friends” (or something like that)
another way to prevent villagers from taking others' catchphrases is to give each one a custom one (if you are able to). the villagers with a catchphrase given by you won't change it when talking to others. but anyone who has his default phrase might also take it from the one with a custom one.
Actually Ignoring your villagers for weeks does make them wanna move out I’ve tried it!! And pushing them or hitting them with the net does not work! PERIOD!

i set raymond’s catchphrase as “baby” and now graham has started calling me it and now it’s hella weird
Nobody:
Me: CHERRY AND STU! STOP CALLING ME TATER TOT
Everyone: !
LMAO I'm Tater Tot too!!
hi tater tot. I’m hero! LOL
@@genevieve1779 lol lol lol you're hero? thats funny! i just was just playing smash against hero!
"people who dont identify as female" krisselia said trans rights
You call that trans rights?
Good lord...
huh..
Huh..
*h u h* . . .
Hmm
Its a good day when Krisellia uploads
I was wondering why Blanche was saying “whonk” while that is Axel’s catchphrase...
If you do the “Flourish” reaction to a villager who’s fishing- they will close their eyes and the stars will pop out. Might work for other reactions.
Hey Kriss! Congrats on 40k!! I honestly love watching your content. Keep up the AMAZING work!!!
I watched your stream! So much fun!
your voice is incredibly soothing
I used to believe some of these, and they are very much not true. I’m so glad someone finally made this video. Thank you 😂
Thanks for this video! I was curious about why another villager picked up ones catchphrase. keep up your good work I love your videos
Wow these really opened my eyes to the stupid things I've read and actually done 😅
I was actually introduced to the game by my boyfriend! He was suggesting the old games to me for like 2 years but I never picked one up until NH. I totally should have listened to him and started sooner, lol. He played all the games growing up.
Everyone is calling me “Grape” or “Crispy”
2:30 not just New Leaf, Wild World and City Folk did so as well- I had to constantly work to keep them away from each other so their catchphrases didn't spread around town!
First off, great video. Second, thank you for saying “people who don’t identify as female”. 🖤
The one that annoys me to this day bc I still see it almost weekly in Facebook groups which is balloons are colour coordinated depending on their contents, like clay in red and furniture in green etc
Ill say, as someone who went to an all boys school, all my friends played animal crossing.
things I have heard, Animal moved out with out you giving permission if they felt grumpy, The Otter didn't show up, and there is a glitch that can remove your flowers or randomly ad your friend's clothing to the custom designs at the tailors. Also Star trees have been patched out and glitched islands are banned from Dream codes.
You missed the opportunity to title this video 8 MYTHconceptions 😔😔

Omg fuchsia In the beginning ! I have her too and she’s always singing so cute 💕
1:06 bro wth i bought acnh for my sis but i accdentaly got addicted and im a boy
some say ignore your villagers and they would want to move out and its not true, i talk to my villagers all the time and they still want to move out.
Thank u for telling me that they can’t move out on their own
I love your videos Krisselia!
me before even watching: "shes gonna mention the clapping to the dodos to get a good island thing isnt she"
YESSSS I WAS RIGHT
so uh in new leaf, carmen gave me the nickname "pop star" and now fang calls me pop star as well because he apparently heard her calling me pop star at some point and was just like "hey uh can i call u pop star like carmen does" and i was like "sure why not" (also my villagers in new leaf have a tendency to adopt catchphrases from other villagers including initial catchphrases and i found out when a week or so after she moved in, carmen started saying bo peep instead of nougat because willow exists in my town)
1:16 Thank you for saying "don't identify as female" instead of female! It's the little things like that that go a long way.
The second one made me confused, like even my dad plays animal crossing idk what's with people
I’ve seen so many of my villagers take the others’ catchphrases, but as I’ve gotten all my villagers their catchphrases, the stealing has lessened from my experience. So now that I have most of their catchphrases it’s frustrating bc the two that DON’T have them will not ask me to change them.
Yeah even when you have a high best friend they will always keep pestering you about it which is why most people tend to let them move out. UGH! I wish the dialogue was not so repetitive.
“woman only play acnh”
Me: RIP boy gamers.
*My dad, uncle and little brother enters room with axe*
2:35 WHAT? most of my Villagers saying a Catchphase i give to them is a mechanics?!
Yay I needed this. I just finished crying through ten tissues and then I heard a ding and now I am already happy. EDIT: yes I am okay now I got in a family argument and I am sensitive. I went out and got ice cream.
I hope you feel better!
What's wrong?
Have a lovely day get better💛💛
Why where you crying?
I hope you’re okay
2:36 And in Wild World too, i love how Sally says "Cheepers" because of Twiggy
People: only females play animal crossing!
Me, a trans male: 😬

Excuse me, what? I spent four hours time traveling to get my rocks where I wanted them, and then I looked up how to move rocks and found in an article that you can only have three rocks per acre. I then spent another six hours time traveling to get my rocks in a different location that would work after figuring out where that location would be. So you're telling me, that I wasted so much time for no real reason? 😫😭
Most of my villagers call me "A-Puff" my villager, Bea started it and it caught on to most of the others
"Though some villagers call me SPUD." LOVE that INSTANT delivery!
Some things I have discovered:
1) Every day, provided you have enough non-fruit trees, 5 Wasp Nests, 2 Furniture Items, and 15 Bell coins will spawn from shaking non-fruit trees.
4) flowers can't be planted in the sand, but won't grow in the sand
5) If you have a villager sitting on the floor or fishing and you want them to move, you can keep running at them and eventually they will get up.
i gotta admit, the nickname thing makes me so happy. the majority of my island is calling me 'pumpkin' right now, and it's the goddamn cutest. even the jocks are doing it.
Male player who is obsessed with the game since the original GameCube release here. Thanks for putting that annoying rumor in here because I can't stand this whole "This is a boys game"/"This is a girls game" nonsense.
the catphrase adapting thing explains something that happened to me in new leaf, when i had katt and rolf on my island,
rolf's catchphrase was "grrolf"
and soon that was katts too
Another thing I've seen that adds to making a villager move out is talking to them too much.
I had no idea that ignoring your villagers in order to make them move out doesn't work, thank you ^^
Villagers adopting catchphrases has been in the games since the Gamecube days. The only way to change their catchphrase again was to wait until they asked you, though. No way of resetting them manually if I remember correctly.
All of my villagers call me burrito now...
And now they are both calling me "a kitty" :(
if your really trying to get rid of a villager and dont mind time traveling, keep time traveling till a day a villager wants to move out. if its not the villager you want, close the game and set the time for 4:59am then load in your save. at 5:00am isabelle should start her daily announcement and afterwards a new villager will be choosen to want to move out. repeat till you get the desired results.
3:59 is it only me who knows that ignoring your villagers does nothing but still does it to be mean :>
Right now my 3 of my villagers are calling me "butterbean". I also have some of them saying the catchphrases "silly" and "senpai", it's really cute
2:42 i gave skye “shortcake” as her catchphrase (she likes to bake pastry). she chatted with marshal and were trading marshal traded his signed limited edition celebrity signature thing for her catchphrase. chrissy ended up chatting with skye and adopted it too
now chrissy marshal and skye call me shortcake
when marshal and skye had the conversation i didnt actually expect him to use the given catchphrase
The thing that scared me is that my villager Nibbles almost moved out. I’m so glad that she’s staying, because she’s my absolute favourite, including Daisy and Rocket.
My school had a myth where you could get a secret final boss bowser in Mario maker 2
I also still see people who think that leaving another person’s island using the minus button is a bad thing.
Congrats on 40k✌️✌️🎈⭐️🥳🥳🥳
Actually Ignoring your villagers for weeks does make them wanna move out I’ve tried it!! And pushing them or hitting them with the net does not work! PERIOD!
It's just rng if a villager wants to move out
