2025 Toyota Camry vs Honda Accord // DRAG & ROLL RACE
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 тра 2024
- The 2025 Toyota Camry XLE AWD Hybrid ($44,485 in Canada, $36,020 in the US) and the 2024 Honda Accord Touring Hybrid ($46,962 in Canada, $39,985 in the US) are lined up for a drag race. The Camry is redesigned and all new, and is pushing a strong 232 combined horsepower from its hybrid 2.5 L 4-cylinder. The Accord may be a bit down on power with 204 combined horsepower from its hybrid 2.0 L 4-cylinder, but it has a bit of a weight advantage over its Toyota competitor. And it’s hard to say how each car’s hybrid systems will put the power down in a drag race scenario. But no matter who wins, they will be facing a familiar V6 face of yesterday for all the marbles. We hope you enjoy the episode. And then subscribe, silly.

2 dads, childhood friends, who see each other at a traffic light on the way to the same soccer field.
I remembered a lot that the same thing also happened in a drag race between Shelby GT350R vs Accord 2022 in 2022.
That is 100% going to happen, and Thomas, it means EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING.
Hauntingly accurate lol
O man that description depressed me lol i hope they have nice family lives and low stress levels but driving these boring pieces of shit 🤮😵💫
@@stefanfreestylez Yeah. Made me a little sad. You’ve got to have some excitement and a bit of impracticality in your ride. James had to pull up with the sleeper car 😂 a lot of people in LA jumped on the 2024 Honda very early, but now I see why they cruise around the city and no one‘s really racing like the previous gen Hondas. Dope drag race fellas!
You guys are great. Only this duo can make these 2 cars "fun".
As someone who owns a 10th gen 2.0 Accord this was painful to watch lol
The 2.0T accord beat the camry v6 in a previous drag race they did. So imagine how slow the new accord would be against the 2.0T accord. Sad asl downgrade.

300 horsepower is the perfect power for cars like this. My 2018 Toyota Avalon has ~268 horsepower and I have no complaints about power. It’s plenty enough for around town.
I used to drive a 400 hp turbo V6 and now I have the 208 hp prev gen Camry hybrid. I don't miss the power (and have a Ducati for weekends). 90% of the time I was just sitting in traffic anyway.

The Accord is sure to retain the current turbocharged 2.0-liter four-engine, which produces 192 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) sends power to the front wheels. Although Honda might offer all-wheel drive at some point, we don't expect it for 2025.

The new Accord is as exciting as shopping for a new washing machine.
The old ones with the wringers.
People love theirs and says its a very smooth ride, but I prefer my v6 accord coupe over the newer accords
It’s been years now that you two have been together and I’ll tell you what. I get excited af when I see there is a new video out. Thomas you’ve been through a few different partners and James is the one that completed the channel. Love what you two do and the banter is amazing

Test drove the 2024 Accord Touring and Camry XSE V6 ended up buying the Camry. The Accord was a compromise in every category not to mention no spare tire.
Compromised the design especially. Went from beautiful art to boring ass.
@@KrayzeeAssKrisReturns Power train aside since I don’t want to compare the 3.5 V6 with the 4 cylinder hybrid, the interior on the Accord was all black, the cooled seats is not the same as a ventilated seat, sunroof vs panoramic, and the lack of spare tire really made it clear which one to get at only $1500 price difference . I’m sure Honda will do a refresh when they are done focusing on their cross over vehicles.
@@albertlim5054 I've been a fan of Camry interiors since my buddy's 2012; they've been absolutely gorgeous since then. Honda interiors have been handsome at best, and their new style dashboards shared by all but the new Pilot (y tho???) are at least a step in the interesting direction. Objectively, forgetting the previous generation, the exterior design of the Accord is better than the Camry, but for the performance, price and beautiful interior I'd definitely choose the Camry. Its new face is easier on my eyes than the '18-'24s to boot.
@@KrayzeeAssKrisReturnsdont change if there’s no problem in interior
The race everyone wanted to see!
Honda really should bring back 2.0T in the refresh, standard hybrid for LX, EX, EX-L, and Touring, with 2.0T on Sport, and Sport Touring trim.
I agree 100%!
Imagine if they put the electric motors paired with the 2.0T. Honda has everything to make it an exciting family car but I don’t think they are trying to make it comparable to the Type R.
Stop living in the past we can't keep polluting the planet and sucking up gas. This will cut your $4 a gallon gas to $2 a gallon gas and not pollute as much. . Pretty cool.

Neither did Camry….
Thanks TH for this comparison of these two head-to-head competitors!
Exhilarating. Thanks for waking me up today.
Hard to believe, and even harder to understand why the Accord is almost $4k more than the Camry with AWD.
Thr Camry also has two optional packages which cost 3-4k.
Camry XSE AWD with Premium Plus is $41,395
Accord Touring is $39,985 with no other option
Camry is more expensive this time
Camry is 2k more expensive and it loses in every other way.

Also RIP V6...
Haha. Same here!
Growing up in the 80s we had a 4cyl 2nd gen Camry. My dad would be so envious of the v6 Camrys at the stop lights pulling hard off the line. I used to think the v6 was quick only to recently find out it would still take 10 sec from 0-60.
@@Wasabi9111My V6 Avalon does 0-60 in a little under 7 seconds. For a big heavy car whose purpose is not speed, that’s not bad.
13L/100km vs 5L/100km - I think most Camry buyers would opt for the latter. And the sales figures show it.
@@yammmit Accord V6 was tested 0-60 in 5.6 seconds. That's plenty quick
@@paulklp8262 You have to remember that Toyota's US dealer model is allocation only - so if they didn't offer many V6s on the lot in the first place, of course people didn't buy many of them. Not saying it would've outperformed the 4 cylinder in sales, but I'm sure they would have sold more if they had more on offer for buyers to choose from in the first place. The Accord 2.0T suffered a similar fate.
So close to 3 million! Well deserved. Should be 10 million.

This made me miss my 10th gen Accord 2.0. They truly are the quintessential sleeper, grocery getter. I went on to buy an FL5 Type R so I have no regrets selling my 2.0, but that doesn’t mean I still don’t hold that Accord 2.0 in very high regard.
Very high regards.. recently sold mine and I actually miss it
Honda dropped the ball big time with the 2L accord. A limited slip would have made it killer but still a sad day for enthusiasts when it was killed off.

eCVT is not the same as a CVT. eCVTs do not have exploding metal belts and are as reliable (if not more) as “old school” automatics.
Its gears--no belts. These guys need to do more research.
Yep, pretty much a single planetary gear set (5 or 6) and 2 electric motors all in one compact and nearly unbreakable package (at least for Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive setup).
People really need to do their research and its not just them. All these car reviewer’s actually. ECVT is a lot different than a regular CVT and as a former mechanic Toyota regular cvt was actually good and reliable, the ecvt is a lot more reliable and used in all of the hybrid vehicles.
@@poitierj93is the ECVT only in the brand new ones (2025+) or is it in the other not as new hybrids as well?
@@07Lightless hey Toyota been was using eCVT transmissions for their hybrids for at least 3-5yrs by now if not more. 2021 model year hybrid’s definitely have an ECVT transmission. Again Toyota CVTs were already great but they cut making them, now non-hybrids use regular automatic Trans or u will hear direct shift and all the regular hybrids (not the ones meant for power like the i-force MAX engines or Hybrid MAX) use eCVT.

what shifting, it's a CVT
Honda has literally never had issues with their CVTs?
This comments doesn’t make much sense given how the Honda Accord hybrid system works.
At lower speeds (city) the electric motor is connected directly to the wheels via a direct drive link, with the engine producing electricity to the battery or electric motor. It pretty much drives like an EV, which is why many reviewers have said it’s really smooth.
At higher speeds (highway), a lockup clutch connects the engine to the wheels.
Honda only calls it an E-CVT for marketing. Also, Honda hasn’t really had reliability issues with their conventional CVTs or E-CVTS, the same goes for Toyota.
Nissan is the only one with major issues with CVTs.
You laugh but this sounds like a very accurate representation of a whiteboard session of engineers. No executive needed.
Can you imagine arriving at your destination 1/10 tenth of a second earlier, or later. Such a life changer.
It blows my mind. Fuel economy should be the deciding factor.
The best answer to a question that never existed ever! Thanks guys, great work.
Last, I feel sad for anyone who has to daily either of these. I guess it does get you from point A to B but...
Why would you be sad for somebody who dailies one of these? Because they’re saving on gas? Because they can’t shred through a set of tires on a whim?
YES! THIS IS WHAT THE PEOPLE NEED😤
In 2024 Honda's ONLY selling point is it's reliability and in 2024 that's even in question. The 'H" on Hondas stands for "has-been'.
