A few products from this review were sent to me by Banggood for testing.
This does not mean that I do get all my products. I review also a lot of products I bought myself.
I started these reviews because from my experience not every tool from China was worth buying. So I wanted to make in-depth reviews to show you which products you should consider and which product you better leave alone. The fact that Banggood sent me products occasionally does not change the way I make my reviews. I still give in-depth reviews and give you my honest opinion!
On this, you can count on!
I have a good experience with Banggood.com and they have a lot of woodworking tools nicely organized on their site.

I will add my thanks also Denis. As an Aussie, I have never had an issue understanding you. When you mentioned geni tals in this video all I could do was laugh and think who the hell thought you were saying that! Your reviews finally led me to purchase my first lot of China Tools recently, based off the strength of your recommendations. Thank you again for these videos, it helps all us wannabe woodworkers to source good quality tools at prices we can afford. Much as I would love a domino, here in Oz, the base model is $1700+. As a hobbyist, I could never justify spending that much on a hand tool regardless of quality and efficiency. For the $200 or so for this combination, I might be able to justify to SWMBO. Add in that I can buy dowels for one third the price of domino tenons and dowels can be integrated into the design of the furniture and used in contrast, it really is a no contest.

Excellent video Dennis! Love your tip about how to hold the router.. you are so right about how easy it is for the router to drift away from the straight edge if you hold it on the flat side!
I so appreciate you making these videos and testing the alternative tools that are actually affordable to the more expensive ones. Keep making these videos because I will keep watching them!!

Modified my jig. Fantastic build quality and thanks for the recommendation. I drilled a 8mm hole between the location pin centre and the first dowel centre on each side. 16mm from either centre. I can now start dowels closer to the edge of small boards and also get 5 in the place of 3 by moving the location pin 16mm

Video popped up in my feed out of nowhere. Caught my interest. Watched it, and bought both jigs immediately. UA-cam knew what I wanted before I did. Uncanny. But looks like I wasn't the only one as I just got a Banggood notification that they are having trouble fulfilling as both items are out of stock! Well done Dennis, you're officially an influencer. I tested the jig today and I can't put into words how amazed I am. I was even faster than using my Domino. The only disadvantage is that you have no dust collection. But the precision is not a tiny bit short of the Domino.

You can buy from banggood other size drill diameter guides (Wen products) THey will screw in just fine, on last count I have ten of each size. So the up side is 8 mm is not the only dowle size you can use, all so I have found the plate with A or B on it can be flipped around with A or B facing out gives a different hole position not center alignment. Cheers

I give this Video a 5 Star Rating- 5 for presentation, 5 for knowledge of equipment utilized, 5 for entertainment value. I just screwed up a project by drilling one wrong hole- so the dowel went in crooked- I resolved it but this longer dowel device sure would've come in handy- I think I'll buy myself one for Christmas.

I joined two long boards with this today. It did work well, but using the black spacer bar left some room to introduce error i feel. If it's skewed just a bit it'll leave your dowel holes short. I feel an improvement would be an S shaped bar that reaches over at the end, lying on top of the end of the main jig and that you could then put one of the stainless pins into. This would ensure 100% accuracy every time. Or, just make the spacer bar T shaped for a greater reference surface.

This jig has been upgraded - It now uses just 2 allen keys instead of 4. I just got it and it immediately noticed this improvement because i'd already watched your review. I'd say the jig is pretty much perfect now and it's an excellent high quality piece of kit for the price (got it for £60 with a case). I was using a cheap plastic Wolfcraft jig previously and this is a gigantic upgrade. Far FAR easier to work with, it actually makes using dowels enjoyable. Buy cheap buy twice.

I agree it is a great combination for joining cabinetry panels, but may also be used to create an MFT table top by precisely placing holes with just the tip of the drill bit indenting the surface and going back with a 20 mm brad point drill bit in a portable drill press to complete the holes and the rows can be set precisely square.

Just ordered this doweling jig, for my preference and as far as versatility goes, it's probably the best thing on the market today.
The one I ordered is black without the numbers marked, but I'll fill the numbers with white enamel paint as soon as possible. I don't have natural light in my shop, and my eyes aren't what they used to be.

Great video and Thank you, Denis for your insights into the alternative tools available! I did buy and use both the doweling jig and the multi-row puncher. They both work very well, and I agree with your review. As all of us, we learn by doing. There is a gotcha if you use them both on the same project. The plate of the multi row puncher is not the same thickness as the plate of the doweling jig. This means that if you use the same drilling setup for both, the hole drilled using the multi-row puncher is deeper, and punches through the wood... Don't ask me how I know.....🤯🤯🤯

Have owned Dowelmax (Canadian) for over 10 years. Works great but not the best for bookcases cabinets etc. Purchased the Wnew dowel jig. Main limitation I noticed is that Wnew wiil not work well if stock is narrower than 70mm (approx 2.75 inches). Ie unable to drill two dowels per joint for a picture frame that uses stock that is approx 40mm wide. In short Wnew is better for cabinets

I really enjoy your channel. Your production quality is top notch. Please pass on the praise to your production crew. The best part is your unique attention to the details. Keep it coming. Maybe something on China Tools, router base table inserts or router accessories.

Great vid Denis, would be good if additional inserts were available for the bar in additional diameter bores such as 5mm for shelf hangers etc

Yes, and I assume additional 8mm guides are available to save swapping out the ones from the dowel jig and the long jig.

I have been waiting for a tool that would allow me to create stronger joints as close to convenience as the extremely expensive and envious festooned domino. Looks like you just introduced me to the winner product for those of us carpenters on a budget. Thanks again Dennis. Can't wait for the next episode.

My thoughts exactly! I'm looking forward to making a 330mm carcass with the jigs when they arrive!

Was very excited to see this video. You did not disappoint. Very detailed as always Dennis. The straight long jig is the best I have seen for shelf pin holes next to a very expensive line boring machine. The doweling jig is awesome as well. With the way pricing of goods has gone up since pandemic, I am not surprised by its cost for the quality. Great video

What sort of shelf pins would you use? You can only use 8 mm dowels. Is there different size bushings available?

Long time ago I bought a large plug-in Mikita router. There were 2 options on this router base at the time - square or round. I bought the square base and quickly became very conscious of drifting along a fence. Note to self, “get the round base next time”. My newer routers have a flat side that I use when changing bits, but otherwise I don’t see much advantage to having a flat side on a router base

use the round base also use a centering cone to center that round base and now you're perfect

Hi Dennis, I bought both these jigs and have used them. But I'm watching this episode again as I'm not using the Dowling jig to its full potential properly and would like you to make a how to use series that goes in a bit more depth of how to use the Dowling jig for the fastener pieces as I just can't get it right. Would that be something you could do please??
Thanks for your hard work and great videos Dennis.

Hi Dennis recently purchased the dowel jig from wnew and just as you said in your recommendation a very very precise jig, perfect for the cabinet doors I’m putting together, thank you.! And as mentioned by others your English is excellent, not so sure about your Dutch as I don’t understand a single word..!😂😂😂😁👍

Great explanation and very usual because the user manual (yes my first china product with a manual and in english) is noch so good. Good product shipped within 8 days. Good quality. The only downsize is for drilling holes series of 32mm for the adjustable tray in a cabinet. They provide only a 8mm drill. Usually we have 5 or 6mm holes for this but 8mm is very uncommon.

Hi from Australia fairly new to woodworking enjoying your Vids just just received my doweling jig and the extension bar jig, great quality. Can't afford the domino so this is great 👌. If you had some extra drill guides set up in your extension jig that would have been an even closer contest

very good explanation about the round router base.
that's exactly why I bought the full circle round base for my DeWalt trim router, because the half round half square base didn't make any sense to me, and also damaged some of my material.
I also changed the bolts holding the DeWalt round router base to stainless steel M4 x 10mm button head + stainless steel washers (they protect the acrylic base from damage by bolt head), because the original bolts are made from such a soft metal that the heads got damaged after only few times I unscrewed them.

Using the round side of the router, is completely counter-intuitive, but yes, using that wobbly round side actually must result in a perfect distance. Thanks for pointing that out.
