A few products from this review were sent to me by Banggood for testing.
This does not mean that I do get all my products. I review also a lot of products I bought myself.
I started these reviews because from my experience not every tool from China was worth buying. So I wanted to make in-depth reviews to show you which products you should consider and which product you better leave alone. The fact that Banggood sent me products occasionally does not change the way I make my reviews. I still give in-depth reviews and give you my honest opinion!
On this, you can count on!
I have a good experience with Banggood.com and they have a lot of woodworking tools nicely organized on their site.

I think your English is fine 👌 no subtitles required in my opinion.
I agree Jeremy. At 70 years of age and requiring two hearing aids I have little to no trouble understanding Dennis.
Im a deaf person, subtitles must be important, it makes it easier for me!
Please stop apologising for your English. It is absolutely fine. Your content is excellent.
English subtitles are for the ones whose listening english is not that good, like me.
I appreciate your adding the subtitles, accent or not.
I bought this jig based on your video and after couple of years looking for the best solution I am finally able to do absolutely precise dowel joints one by one. Life is so much easier now with this and it’s soooo quick!
I will add my thanks also Denis. As an Aussie, I have never had an issue understanding you. When you mentioned geni tals in this video all I could do was laugh and think who the hell thought you were saying that! Your reviews finally led me to purchase my first lot of China Tools recently, based off the strength of your recommendations. Thank you again for these videos, it helps all us wannabe woodworkers to source good quality tools at prices we can afford. Much as I would love a domino, here in Oz, the base model is $1700+. As a hobbyist, I could never justify spending that much on a hand tool regardless of quality and efficiency. For the $200 or so for this combination, I might be able to justify to SWMBO. Add in that I can buy dowels for one third the price of domino tenons and dowels can be integrated into the design of the furniture and used in contrast, it really is a no contest.
You're English is very easy to understand. You're video's are brilliant and one of the best on YT.
Bough it based on this review and used it for the cabinets of my DIY speakers. It worked perfectly and was very easy and fast to use. Would definitely recommend this jig.
Excellent video Dennis! Love your tip about how to hold the router.. you are so right about how easy it is for the router to drift away from the straight edge if you hold it on the flat side!
I so appreciate you making these videos and testing the alternative tools that are actually affordable to the more expensive ones. Keep making these videos because I will keep watching them!!
No need for sub titles Dennis, your English is just great! Another great review, many thanks.
Ah heck, that's another purchase for me. Great video as usual Dennis
Your Dinglish is one of those rare cases, where it actually is totally not irritating.
Compared to the average American from the southern states, I prefer yours any day!
Hi Dennis, because of this Video I bought this Doweling Jig und built 2 custom Kitchen Cabinets with it. I have many years professionally installed kitchens and am therefore particularly critical. But I must say that the Doweling Jig has really convinced me. So thanky you for this Video. I wisch you and your Familiy a merry Christmas. Greetings from the german North Sea Coast.
Another fantastic tool review Dennis. Thank you for continuing to test tools that us mere mortals can actually afford.
Modified my jig. Fantastic build quality and thanks for the recommendation. I drilled a 8mm hole between the location pin centre and the first dowel centre on each side. 16mm from either centre. I can now start dowels closer to the edge of small boards and also get 5 in the place of 3 by moving the location pin 16mm
Hi Garry, Can you sent me a picture of the modified jig and some results? I would love to see them. hookedonwood@hotmail.com
Thanks Dennis
After watching this video I bought the dowel jig, it arrived today, way ahead of schedule but so far I haven't had a chance to use it. I can comment, however, on the absolute top-quality materials, workmanship and presentation of this jig - all outstanding. I am looking forward to using this dowel jig, it really does look and feel that good, thanks for the heads-up Denis.
Hello Dennis. As usual a very detailed and professional review of the Dowelling Jig and Multi-Row Puncher. These are quality products that do complement each other. Thank you Dennis.
Hi Denis, first my thanks to add to the others, totally envious of your amazing workshop, but I wanted to say how much I appreciate your video's especially this one, I know it was done a while back but following your score card I purchased this jig, but what is even better watching you use it was so educational, the instructions on paper are a challenge to say the least, many thanks.
Thank you Dennis. I'm a career mechanic/engineer about to retire to woodworking from my shed. You have saved me $000 on getting set up. Thank you.
He saved you zero dollars? Nice
Dennis a brilliant video as ever, I have been wood working since I was 18 and I am now nearly 70, your videos have always been very informative so please keep it up, thank you
After seeing this video I bought the "Doweling jig" and "Multi-Row puncher" and it really works awesome.
Dennis bedankt man voor deze geweldige tips en product reviews.
Cool, fijn om te lezen😄
Great video and review! Thank you for sharing your experience and eye for detail on tools and other items you make. Thanks from California!
And your English is as good as anyone can be! (Yes I speak Dutch too but been in US for 20+ years and I still sound funny 😀
You pronouncing is fine. Thx for putting so much effort on your reviews and your video are so structured and does not have any fluff. Great stuff
Video popped up in my feed out of nowhere. Caught my interest. Watched it, and bought both jigs immediately. UA-cam knew what I wanted before I did. Uncanny. But looks like I wasn't the only one as I just got a Banggood notification that they are having trouble fulfilling as both items are out of stock! Well done Dennis, you're officially an influencer. Subscribed and checking out the full series of china tools as time allows!
haha, thanks for your comments.
I tested the jig today and I can't put into words how amazed I am. I was even faster than using my Domino. The only disadvantage is that you have no dust collection. But the precision is not a tiny bit short of the Domino.
haha, great isn't. Have fun with it.
You can buy from banggood other size drill diameter guides (Wen products) THey will screw in just fine, on last count I have ten of each size. So the up side is 8 mm is not the only dowle size you can use, all so I have found the plate with A or B on it can be flipped around with A or B facing out gives a different hole position not center alignment. Cheers
I give this Video a 5 Star Rating- 5 for presentation, 5 for knowledge of equipment utilized, 5 for entertainment value. I just screwed up a project by drilling one wrong hole- so the dowel went in crooked- I resolved it but this longer dowel device sure would've come in handy- I think I'll buy myself one for Christmas.
Good show. I enjoy the subtitles because I learn better if I read along with the video. I appreciate you and your show
Hi Dennis, i was very happy to see a new video and it was perfect as always. Btw. i don‘t see the need for the effort you have to put up, to write the text. I do understand you just fine.
But this way hear-impaired people can follow the video as well and I think that is a nice bonus. The same for people who are less aquinted with the englisch language. So, @Dennis: keep up the good work. A nice video (again, as allways).
@@hanstenhave3352 Thank you for THIS reply to Karsten F's comment. I fully agree with you! Sometimes, When I didn't completely understand a phrase, I just rewind the video by a few seconds and READ the comment, including the possibility to see the correct spelling in order to look it up in a dictionary. Excellent idea!
@@hanstenhave3352 you are right about the hearing impaired, totally forgot about them, for them it might be a big win. I was more thinking about Dennis English and that is fine for me.
I joined two long boards with this today. It did work well, but using the black spacer bar left some room to introduce error i feel. If it's skewed just a bit it'll leave your dowel holes short. I feel an improvement would be an S shaped bar that reaches over at the end, lying on top of the end of the main jig and that you could then put one of the stainless pins into. This would ensure 100% accuracy every time. Or, just make the spacer bar T shaped for a greater reference surface.
Another superb episode Dennis. Very comprehensive coverage of the product. My bank balance suffers with each episode you upload!😂
Dennis thank you for these reviews. Im thankful that i stumbled onto your channel. Great content and not too long and drawn out. I have noticed your attention to detail and the china tool series is awesome. I am from the US and love to buy American made products and European as well, but sometimes for the amount of times i may use a tool, I cant justify the additional cost. Your reviews are fantastic. Plus cost and time saving as well. Thank you sir!
"How Dennis Got His Groove On!" I just found your channel last week. Fantastic stuff. This video was excellent, and I will be getting that doweling jig. As much as I would love to own a Festool Domino, the price is way to high for me. Keep up the great work! You're helping a lot of us weekend warrior wood workers!
Absolutely great videos . i have been following you on all your projects and find you can explain on a layman's terms. After watching you use the jig i have taken your advice and bought one . I tried it for the first time today and found it easy ,But i was using your video as a guid while setting up in my workshop. Gerald South wales UK
No subtitles needed. You have an accent, but you are clear and easy to understand. (I wonder if non native English speakers would have more difficulty though. I once translated between a Hong Kong woman speaking good English and Morrocan guy that spoke french accented English. )
Love your work
Denis, great video. Really informative. By the way. There is no problems understanding you. Thank you again!
I found this product while I was watching your Playlist of China tools. The review was incredible that convinced me to buy it. I tried several doweling jigs before (most of them are junks when its not on the edge), but this one was amazing. As you mentioned it's not a self-centered, but anyone works with biscuits or loose tenon joinery knows that you have to register from the same side.
One more thank you Dennis for a great review.
Great find.
Awesome that they put your video in the description of the product.
keep up the good work.
thanks.
I have just stumbled upon your channel after looking for dowel jigs and I am glad I did. I really didnt want to spend nearly $500 (AUD) on the Jessem Jig so I watched a few of your reviews and have decided to try this one and have used your affiliate link to purchase. Thank you for the recommendation.
Hi.Great video. I've noticed a misalignment at 8.23 and am just wondering why it is happening? Thanks
Good tip with router never knew that but makes sense and will be the way I do it from now on
This jig has been upgraded - It now uses just 2 allen keys instead of 4. I just got it and it immediately noticed this improvement because i'd already watched your review. I'd say the jig is pretty much perfect now and it's an excellent high quality piece of kit for the price (got it for £60 with a case). I was using a cheap plastic Wolfcraft jig previously and this is a gigantic upgrade. Far FAR easier to work with, it actually makes using dowels enjoyable. Buy cheap buy twice.
I was looking for a doweling jig today and your video came in very timely. Thank you.
Thank you for another excellent video, as a regular subtitle user the fact that you have taken the time and effort to add subtitles is amazing. Another geni tool to add to my shopping list 🤣
I can understand you pervectly even English is my second language. Great videos! Enjoy all your reviews!
Another great product review from the "king" of reviews.Have to be the most trusted reviewer on the web Thanks
thanks John
A game-changer I think. You are providing a great service. Thank you.
I agree it is a great combination for joining cabinetry panels, but may also be used to create an MFT table top by precisely placing holes with just the tip of the drill bit indenting the surface and going back with a 20 mm brad point drill bit in a portable drill press to complete the holes and the rows can be set precisely square.
Great point you make about being able to use this tool to make MFT style tops. Feel a bit silly that I never thought of it. Thanks for sharing. I'm about to make a storage cabinet and just watched this tutorial again as a refresher. Glad I looked through the comments. Always a great source of tips and ideas.
Just ordered this doweling jig, for my preference and as far as versatility goes, it's probably the best thing on the market today.
The one I ordered is black without the numbers marked, but I'll fill the numbers with white enamel paint as soon as possible. I don't have natural light in my shop, and my eyes aren't what they used to be.
Thanks for the in depth and thorough review, showing exactly how it works and the possibilities it offers.
Greetings from Portugal
Love this review and other tips. Thanks. Your English is indeed fine and easy to understand 👍
Dennis,
Dank voor de duidelijke video.
Een fantastische meerwaarde met nederlandse ondertiteling.
deze juiste ondertiteling miste ik al bij de vorige videos.
groeten Joop Fiselier
Hi Dennis, as always, your videos are of the highest quality.
I watch subtitles on almost everything. It's not your English, it's my hearing... so I appreciate the attention you paid to subtitles on this video. Subscribed already, now even happier.
Thanks Jeff, I will continue with at least English subtitles.
Wow, a couple of really great jigs! And thank you for the router tip too, that tip will help a bunch.
Deep and honest review on the www. Thanks Dennis. Now i know what's my next purchase
Great video. extremely well done. I have purchased several of your recommended tools and been very please. I hope you don't let knot heads bother you about your English. You do fantastic. They must have hearing issues. I have watch all your videos and I have never misunderstood you. I value your opinion on these tools.
Dennis thank you ,another great episode of Hooked On Wood. I really enjoyed the explanation for the way you use your router.
As a newbie, I automatically used the round side on my router. I love your content, keep up the good work.
I bought this dowel jig based on your review and you’re right, it is very good. At the same time i ordered a 5mm bushing so that i can screw cam dowels without using the plastic nut insert.
I am on Banggood almost every day, ( because of you , damn it!) I had not seen this jig. I agree a real game changer. Thanks again for another great video.
Another wonderful video, Dennis. You are becoming a rockstar.
First time I've watched one of your videos, must say i understood everything you said, and the video was really good at explaining everything, thumbs up
Based on this video i used your website link to buy this dowelling jig and multirow puncher today. The nearest equivalent I have come across is the Dowelmax which costs over £300 in the uk. I also bought 2 rulers you recommended. Your reviews are excellent, really honest and informative. Thank you!
Another great review
Thank you for the tip at the end of the video using the round end this will be priceless to me
Great video and Thank you, Denis for your insights into the alternative tools available! I did buy and use both the doweling jig and the multi-row puncher. They both work very well, and I agree with your review. As all of us, we learn by doing. There is a gotcha if you use them both on the same project. The plate of the multi row puncher is not the same thickness as the plate of the doweling jig. This means that if you use the same drilling setup for both, the hole drilled using the multi-row puncher is deeper, and punches through the wood... Don't ask me how I know.....🤯🤯🤯
Have owned Dowelmax (Canadian) for over 10 years. Works great but not the best for bookcases cabinets etc. Purchased the Wnew dowel jig. Main limitation I noticed is that Wnew wiil not work well if stock is narrower than 70mm (approx 2.75 inches). Ie unable to drill two dowels per joint for a picture frame that uses stock that is approx 40mm wide. In short Wnew is better for cabinets
I now have this system. Looking forward to trying it out.
I went ahead and ordered a set even though it's metric. Took two weeks and two days for delivery, not to bad considering it was all the way from Korea. I'll post up when I test it.
I still love my Domino and wouldn't want to part with it, but a good doweling jig can't be beat. Thanks for sharing your review of this one!
As always: NONE Finer than Dennis and his "hooked on Wood". I especially loved this video and I might buy them because he showed "how"; like few could do. Thank you kind Sir.
Thanks Pat, nice to hear from you again. All the best for 2022!
Fantastic video again! Thank you so much!
You are making my wishlist get out of hand. Great video.
Very nice review, I can see this being very useful in many instances. Great method for the router use. Have a wonderful week. Hope the new shop is coming along well.
To me, your English is very easy to understand, so I don't need any subtitles. But very good for those who have less experience in English.
Awesome tip regarding using the round side of the router. Thanks bro.
No subtitles required, I understand your English perfectly
NOw that is cool and really good router point I have never thought of.
I really enjoy your channel. Your production quality is top notch. Please pass on the praise to your production crew. The best part is your unique attention to the details. Keep it coming. Maybe something on China Tools, router base table inserts or router accessories.
Thanks for your complements and suggestions.
Great vid Denis, would be good if additional inserts were available for the bar in additional diameter bores such as 5mm for shelf hangers etc
i agree. I Will ask Banggood if they have something like that
Yes, and I assume additional 8mm guides are available to save swapping out the ones from the dowel jig and the long jig.
I have been waiting for a tool that would allow me to create stronger joints as close to convenience as the extremely expensive and envious festooned domino. Looks like you just introduced me to the winner product for those of us carpenters on a budget. Thanks again Dennis. Can't wait for the next episode.
My thoughts exactly! I'm looking forward to making a 330mm carcass with the jigs when they arrive!
@@whomadethatsaltysouphow did it go and would you still recommend this jig?
Thanks
Was very excited to see this video. You did not disappoint. Very detailed as always Dennis. The straight long jig is the best I have seen for shelf pin holes next to a very expensive line boring machine. The doweling jig is awesome as well. With the way pricing of goods has gone up since pandemic, I am not surprised by its cost for the quality. Great video
What sort of shelf pins would you use? You can only use 8 mm dowels. Is there different size bushings available?
Long time ago I bought a large plug-in Mikita router. There were 2 options on this router base at the time - square or round. I bought the square base and quickly became very conscious of drifting along a fence. Note to self, “get the round base next time”. My newer routers have a flat side that I use when changing bits, but otherwise I don’t see much advantage to having a flat side on a router base
use the round base also use a centering cone to center that round base and now you're perfect
I have watched every video on this series and am hoping to go to china when things clear up and I will buy some of these tools thank you and keep up the great work
Die Episode ist wie immer sehr gut und sehr informativ. Ich freue mich schon auf die nächste Episode. Grüße aus Deutschland.
As always, the episode is very good and very informative. I'm looking forward to the next episode. Greetings from Germany.
Hi Dennis, I bought both these jigs and have used them. But I'm watching this episode again as I'm not using the Dowling jig to its full potential properly and would like you to make a how to use series that goes in a bit more depth of how to use the Dowling jig for the fastener pieces as I just can't get it right. Would that be something you could do please??
Thanks for your hard work and great videos Dennis.
I will think about it
Hi Dennis recently purchased the dowel jig from wnew and just as you said in your recommendation a very very precise jig, perfect for the cabinet doors I’m putting together, thank you.! And as mentioned by others your English is excellent, not so sure about your Dutch as I don’t understand a single word..!😂😂😂😁👍
Another helpful, well-thought-out, and much appreciated review!
Great explanation and very usual because the user manual (yes my first china product with a manual and in english) is noch so good. Good product shipped within 8 days. Good quality. The only downsize is for drilling holes series of 32mm for the adjustable tray in a cabinet. They provide only a 8mm drill. Usually we have 5 or 6mm holes for this but 8mm is very uncommon.
Once again a brilliant video! The explanation about the use of the round side vs. square side of the router was perfect. Thank you and I look forward to many more videos!
Hi from Australia fairly new to woodworking enjoying your Vids just just received my doweling jig and the extension bar jig, great quality. Can't afford the domino so this is great 👌. If you had some extra drill guides set up in your extension jig that would have been an even closer contest
Joh wat een toffe video.

Hoop meer van je video's te zien, ik heb mij geabonneerd!
Fantastic review, Dennis! Thanks! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
very good explanation about the round router base.
that's exactly why I bought the full circle round base for my DeWalt trim router, because the half round half square base didn't make any sense to me, and also damaged some of my material.
I also changed the bolts holding the DeWalt round router base to stainless steel M4 x 10mm button head + stainless steel washers (they protect the acrylic base from damage by bolt head), because the original bolts are made from such a soft metal that the heads got damaged after only few times I unscrewed them.
Great video, someone really put some thought into this tool.
Thanks Denis! Your videos are just perfect source of info! Great job man!
Using the round side of the router, is completely counter-intuitive, but yes, using that wobbly round side actually must result in a perfect distance. Thanks for pointing that out.
LOVED the round/flat router tip!! I messed up a juice groove on a cutting board using the flat site. I will be using the round on future cutting boards.
Thank you Denis. Another great Vid. Your Upgrade to your Equipment at the wall is going further. Wohw!!!
Great, informative video.indepth, honest and brilliantly made, thank you Dennis
Firstly, thank you for the work you are doing. Secondly, can you use the jig on beveled joints such as waterfall joints for tables
Dude, you rock! Just came across your UA-cam and I'm a subscriber now! 👍
SUPERIOR VID AS USUAL, LOVE IT.
Wow! Nice episode. I really enjoyed it. I hope to see more of these great videos in the future! Keep up the good work!
