Great to see 15 yo Leonardo Hughes really hurt himself on the erg. 6:32 is a great score for his age, and top time trailer in the scull. Fantastic video Cam, and great to see you at my old school. It is a long way from Monckton Combe, and a long way from where I photographed you for Hear The Boat Sing at HRR last year.
You’ve just got to love a 2K test!! 🤢 I cannot think of another sport where you see the same end result no matter the age, no matter where in the world 😎
Erging in running shoes ?😮😮 no thanks. I remember doing a simple 500m test in some running shoes many years back. I had never experienced "underside of foot cramp" before and I aim to never experience it again. Have you found this to be a common preference. I recall being advised against it as a junior
I'm certainly not an expert in the matter. I tend to go just socks or a flat trainer. I've got a pair of knackered Adidas sambas that I've always found comfy to erg in. If you're having serious issues your probs best seeking expert advice
I remember my first 2k, i didnt even know what a 2k was Now all i think about is my 2k time but i think thats what makes rowing so amazing unlike other sports, i can always know im improving at rowing and thats my drive to become the best 🤩
It's all about power and what, works for you. I've seen people go for 38spm, but the efficiency and power goes out the window. The same people can be much faster at 28spm.
That test had them thinking about their life choices lol. that pain!

I am so happy I need never do another 2k test again in my life. Makes watching others do it even more pleasurable 🙂. Great video.

Cam, thank you for the videos. Your videos have brought the boys and me over at my club loads of inspiration and ideas.
Thanks for the support! Hope the ideas are good!
As a TSS Boy who knows most of the rowers, Good on ya fellas
Keep it up
Hurts to watch… brave souls!
GREAT content!
There’s expression at the end of the 2K are priceless! Way to go!!
gotta give it to the aussies..."find your zone...give it everything...do _not_ give up"...and that's what they say to their kids.
Pretty accurate!
Love this content Cam
Thanks for the support!
The standard look in their faces at the end, a strong time leads to horror feelings at the end
As a middle school rower, I know the fear before an erg test, and it shows in their faces
You mean the joy! 🤩
@@CameronBuchan For me, that's afterwards when I get a good time.
Dam I wish my middle school had rowing lol, I would’ve been way better now 😂
What were there times?
Between 6 and 7 minutes 💪
@@CameronBuchan what was the fastest time
Around 6:03 💪
Wow!!
@@CameronBuchansay nans someone got a 6:03
You can see and feel the pain. But what hurts the most, is the psychological pain wnhe they see the results at the monitor. Ergs don't lie
I remember the pain well
A 2k will eff you up real fast. The uninitiated will never know the pain
I have a 2k in 3 days!! I'm hoping to go sub 8 but no promises lol
update: i went 7:56.6!!!
Up the BSBC lycra 0:32, 0:56, 1:30, 2:50
Bloody hell those are some mad eyes!
Pain in paradise! 😃

Can you recommend shoes to erg in?
@@gp7971idk about the other guy but I just go without socks and wrap my sock around the heel part of the erg shoe

@@gp7971Generally any CrossFit shoe will do a pretty solid job. Metcons, Nanos, Nobulls, etc
Can what year were they in highschool?? Was it just from year 9 to 12
Indeed, year 9 to 12
14-17 years old for reference

Yes bro
A venture into the pain cave can make us all cave!
Nobody is immune!
Should stroke be high when rowing for time? what's a good number? 25? sorry newbie here
2k? At least 30
Like 32+ for a 2k
When you get used to a 2k, yes the higher rate will help you go faster. You’ll also have to get used to rating higher too so it’s not an automatic

Thanks for the video, reminds me of Good moments 😅.
Can you should change your sunglasses… it looks like tired
Fun moments for sure!
They’ve been with me for many years, they’re not going anywhere. Lenses have changed a few times though !
TSS is dynamite, don't mess with dynamite... lmao
Notice how nobody is smiling lmao
Erg 2k
They aren't pushing hard at all, should have a stroke rate twice as high.
So around 70-90 spm?
Good to see you aren't contaminating the pool and cooking your skin in chlorinated hot water!
Plenty of hours in the day outside of vlogging
Very dramatic 😂
Very hard erg!
