  • The 2025 Polestar 4 is coming to shake up the establishment in the fully electric mid-size SUV segment. Yep, the new coupe-style model has got the Tesla Model Y firmly in its sights, albeit with a more premium focus in mind. As such, it finds itself as a straddler, with other rivals including the BMW iX3 and Mercedes-Benz EQC SUV.
    Either way, the Polestar 4 is impressive on paper, with with single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive variants available from launch, with WLTP-rated driving range up to 610km, while the 0-100km/h sprint time is as quick as 3.8 seconds. But the thing that makes it stand out the most is its complete lack of a rear window, with a digital rearview mirror handling visibility behind the C-pillars instead.
    In this expert review, CarsGuide Contributing Journalist Byron Mathioudakis travels to Spain to get an early taste of the Polestar 4 ahead of its Australian release date later this year.

    Did you test the performance car in Spain? Because the cars they brought to Spain was not updated with newest software and the correct suspension.

    This car for the single motor version is less than 40k Australian dollar. If they price similarly with the ones selling in China, nothing can compete in the market. I’m talking about not just the Zeeker X. Most new EV models in China sell around 40-50k Australia dollar.

    Polestar 4 is a bargain compared with comparable premium cars, and Tesla is below the premium aim of Polestar

    I got my 2024 Tesla Model Y in the US for less than $40,000 and a 0.99% APR. The Polestar 4 is double the price. How would this car compete with the price?

      Why are you comparing the two?

      @@jayem8981 The Polestar is much more premium than the Y. The Y feels mainstream and I've been in many of them. The Polestar 2 is much more solid feeling and the 4 is much more refined. The 3 is the most refined but that's more money.

    I honestly couldn’t buy a car that makes me go through multiple menus to open the glovebox. I realise this isn’t the world’s most pressing issue but it would irritate me every time I needed to open it. -lease manufacturers, spend the extra couple of dollars per car and put some buttons back in for things that just work better that way. If you want to save some money to pay for this, dump those stupid electric retracting door handles.

    • @thomaswestin9987
      @thomaswestin9987 14 днів тому

      while I also like physical controls for critical stuff while driving, I dont think the glove box is one of those; you can also just press the speak key on the steering wheel and say open glove box, wotks just fine

    • @peterj5751
      @peterj5751 14 днів тому

      @@thomaswestin9987 it’s also the inconvenience of needing to activate the screen just to open the glove box. I often go to the car just to get something out of the glovebox. Now I suspect that just having the key with you may be enough to activate the screen but I may not have the key in my pocket when the car is in the shed. Plus, I can’t just open the drivers door and open the glovebox. I have to reach into the center of the car and jab multiple menu items to do something as simple as open a small plastic door. It is technology for technologies sake making life worse. So it’s also the raw principle of it and by buying a car with this, I’m supporting and encouraging it.

      @@peterj5751 well I rarely use the glovebox at all so for me that is not a problem, so yes I think a button to open it would be good but it is not a big thing (for me)

    Buying into this brand is a risky choice. Polestar share price has fallen to almost zero and there’s only so much money the parent companies can shovel into the black hole before they’ll soon stop. Good luck 😂

  • @25Alpha
    @25Alpha 17 днів тому +2

    Polestar just posted a 1.46 Billion dollar loss because of low sales. The reason is simple, they are way overpriced. The range claim is also overstated. It's about the same as a model Y Tesla and nowhere near the 600 plus km it claims

    • @432wheels
      @432wheels 17 днів тому

      Yup. At 50% higher price than a model Y, majority of people in the market for an EV just don't want to spend that much. Yeah some tech might be better than Tesla but Tesla is the market benchmark even with its faults ie lack of wanted CarPlay/AA, wiper functionality and parking sensors

      @@tzetv Chinese owner….built in China…..Chinese car. Lipstick (Swedish flag) on a pig is still a pig. I’m just pushing buttons though. I know some people say they’re premium and yeah they’re nice but I’ve never considered Volvo on the same level as the big 3 euro brands let alone in the same level as Porsche. Just saying I’m sure they’re reaching too far price wise and the lack of sales is proving that….just like people asking too much for their house when selling. Market is determining where it should sit.
