One thing that might add a touch more realism is a clear UV resin for the eyes, and maybe the lips; it gives it a wet look that most paints lack, and sets up quickly. I learned of this trick from watching others, like Catmeleon (?) here on UA-cam, that also creates figures. Your grasp of Anatomy is AMAZING! I will definitely be checking out more of your videos!
Also give the feet just a touch more thickness through the center/ arch. I watched this sculpture and then I looked at my own foot and my husband's, and I thought... just a bit of instep!
absolutely AWESOME! I watched a ton of North of the Border videos and I have no idea how come youtube recommend me your channel so late. glad it eventually did though very talented work, love it!
So happy you made another Hollow Knight sculpture!! Looks incredible! I'm always amazed by your knack for anatomy :) Edit: Also love the addition of the shells!
Awesome job! Also, for metallics like a sword does best with a high gloss black base before the metallic. Since metallics are mostly transparent you get the metallic shine and more realistic look.
As an amateur sculptor myself I just wanted to say that you are a big inspiration to me. Keep up the good work, love the human-hornet concept by the way.
amazing work man btw,i cant thank you enough for giving me the inspiration to make a bloodborne sculpture myself, because although its not at all perfect, its good enough and the process tought me so many things about the clay i use.Cant thank you enough
I’ve only just discovered your channel recently but I am so amazed and entranced by the grasp you have on anatomy, it’s such a treat to get to see how you build up the body layer by layer and I will definitely be using your videos whenever I need a physical anatomy reference for more dynamic poses. Absolutely incredible!
I always find amazing on how by explaining your process while showcasing your process makes me feel calm and enjoy every second of it. Love your art, and the fact that you're real while doing so. Keep it up and thank you for sharing. It's inspiring (:
I just wanted to let you know that I love your channel! The sculptures are incredible, the painting is great, the editing is really good, and the voiceovers are helpful and enjoyable. I have only been watching for a few months, but you have become one of, if not my favorite sculpting channel on UA-cam. Keep up the awesome work :)
Love your enthusiasm. You are an awesome creative artist and teacher. Wish I could study with you but I am 96 years old and disabled with little talent.
As always another banger of a video! And I personally enjoy when you get technical about the sculpting process and materials so I'd actually encourage you to go on more tangents about that lol. Can't wait to see what you've got in store next!
Another possible material to use is cosclay. It retains flexibility after curing it in the oven. It could be something to look into, if it sounds like something you'd want to use
The lore you thought of goes hard, but I'd keep the fact that Hornet was trained by Vespa instead of Herra. If Herra's a tyrant queen, she can have Veapa train Hornet while she's busy with ruling. This would create conflict for Hornet in the long run because eventually she'll realize that Vespa was her mother figure this entire time.
Wow absolutely amazing! The ease in which you create flawless anatomy is just breathtaking. What a stunning piece, and great video…thoroughly enjoyed seeing your process! 🔥 🔥 🔥
This sculpture is amazing and it's so fun to see how you work around design aspect and implement them in this version whilst still adding your own spins on it and this turned out awesome
please, for the love of god, make more human hollow knight sculptures. everything from the character design to the touches of worldbuilding for this human au to of course the ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL sculptural work is itching my hollow knight fan cortex so perfectly.
Man, I JUST had this happen. I come from model horse customization, and I sculpted with polymer clay thinking that, for some reason, it would behave like plastic, wire, and apoxie. I cut things apart and then had to deal with cracks over and over. Knowing your problems are self created? You are speaking directly to my soul!
I wouldn't call the neck and shoulder proportions "wrong". I just bought a model pack for gesture drawing and her neck is much, much........much.... longer then what you got going on and she is a real life human. I've also seen quite a few models with wider shoulders then one would expect. Awesome sculpt! Great job!
Fantastic work, really enjoyed the whole process! One thing I though of that might be I teresting would have been to make a second head that has a mask/helmet in the shape of the original characters, like a skull helmet of sorts. Again awesome work =]
I love that you mention North of the border. He's one of my favorites. I think that's why you caught my attention. You both talk about the process as you sculpt and add that you know it's not exactly like the character but it's your interpretation of it. There for it's close enough. I love to watch people enjoy their craft as much as I do. Thank you for sharing. Love it.
Welcome back good sir! This was amazing. I would love to see you make more anatomy study/sculpt videos in the future as well, especially like the ones shown @ 15:29. The far right one in particular looks absolutely phenomenal!
I absolutely loved this piece, but the one thought I had was that it could have been interesting to put a Thread Spool in place of the Butt pouch you added. In my mind, it'd make sense for her to use the "Silk" as part of her assassination tools, carrying around the thread as an additional tool, a way to throw her sword and recall it, or maybe even a weapon of its own to choke out someone like a Garrote wire~!
If you ever decide to expand into another field of artistry I feel like you’d be amazing at voice acting. You have such a relaxed and conversational voiceover style 😊
As always, its phenomenal. I always love watching your videos. I always get so much in return from all of them. You are a true master my friend. Props to you for all the amazing work you put out
The pigtails going up because of the motion was a genius idea!! And I love the lore you made along with it! I also love and admire how you are so honest about your mistakes!!
I'm just sad that I forgot to turn on notifications for your channel and didn't get to see this sooner, looks amazing despite not being the regular HK art style.
such beautiful art, and I appreciate the thorough commentary a lot! Cant afford this month, but bookmarking the patreon for future. Been wanting to try making an anatomical sculpture for ages. Thanks!
AAhhh!!! a new video!!! just in time for my breakfast watching!!! EDIT: OK I just finished it xD Really amazing work! I felt that part when you were removing the cape the first time, aaahhh been there 😭 As per the rest of the sculpt issues, I would have used that epoxy to fix the first time I saw cracks if I wasn't going to put it in the oven again, but I'm just talking outta my ass right now cuz I don't sculpt and have no clue what artists prefer to use 😅 As per the mold, did you think of maybe using silicone putty instead? I use that sometimes to make small molds and it works great, less hassle and it sets in just 15 minutes. Looking forward to your next video!!
This is both intensely satisfying and very cool to watch. You are very skilled, your video editing is nice, your voice is smooth and explanations are very well made. Kudos
Hi Chong, I just want to say that I think you’re too hard on yourself sometimes; you don’t chase trends or anything, you just sculpt what you love, you have a passion for learning, and I think you produce the best sculptures on UA-cam. I’ve watched all of your videos multiple times, and absolutely love hearing the stories you create. Like I said, don’t let the nagging voices in your head get you down, you’re awesome.
Awesome concept and execution. You mentioned in another video that you would love to sculpt in color. Unsure whether you can buy it where you live, but FIMO colored clay that needs to be baked in the oven may be what you are looking for. Though, there are also videos on youtube showing people sculpting things from colored clay that seems to air-dry. Maybe that's better for you, but I don't know what that material is called. For sculpting things separately, I would suggest using cling wrap or plastic wrap as clay usually doesn't stick to that. It's a great separator. And to repair broken pieces I would recommend the 2-part Aves Apoxie Sculpt. For metal parts of the sculpt I would recommend the Alclad 2 metalic paints. They give the most realistic metallic look from all the paints I've seen shown on UA-cam. Looking forward to your next creation. And I love how you show your mistakes as well, which many others tend to leave out. It shows people ways to fix those and that even mistakes can help create a better finished piece.
looks great! very interesting project. I think you should have positioned her the other way round though so her jumping back onto the rock would look more natural, right now she looks like she's about to fall backwards on that steep rock with the angle her foot is at.
This is what I waiting for you, you're not just make the sculpt like the original design, but you improve and reimagine the character into your own expression and style, I like that kind of art, keep it up Art 🙏🙏👍👍💯
When you were trying out the different poses in the beginning I could actually see and hear the fight. I think you adapted her gestures really well! The red eyes make it look a bit like she's infected but I can see why you wanted the pop of colour. This turned out really beautiful!
Your videos are amazing. Thank you. Watching you remove the cloak gave me so much anxiety. 😂 I love sculpting and pottery! You're videos are clean, entertaining, and easy to understand. Love it. 🥰
Art Chong Art ! Could you pls make a Medusa sculpture ? Like the one in the clash of the titans remake ? It would be out of this world with your level of detail and painting skills !!!
I love watching your videos and you never cease to amaze me with your craft and you never fail to make my jaw drop in awe of what you can create. Thanks for making my day with your insane abilities and I can't wait to see what you make next 😁
An extremely insightful video, most enjoyable and very, very informative! Thank You so much for sharing with Us here in tubeland. Looking forward to more soon. Later Oh and very beautiful too !!
Hey! Tip from someone who paints Mini's: You can shade black. You just, kinda have to fudge it. Make the black brighter than your intended final shadow, and add color into it. The Shadows will then add additional contrast to your sculpture's primary colors; whilst also being more visually interesting!
Additionally you can buy Brushable Varnish. So you can put different finishes on different surfaces. Like High Gloss Varnish on the eyes! Or a Satin on the cloak.
I think I speak for everyone when I say: We would love a series of human Hollow Knight sculptures
Pure vessel look insanely handsome in human version. Bro is truly a prince of hallownest
Yes!
You thought wrong nerd
I want to see Marissa and the Three Mantis Lords.
@@drshin9893 You're a nerd if you're here so, that attempt insult holds no wait, lmao.
i need to see the little knight as realistic sculpture
Love the mention of North of the Border! Rocks do make very good rocky texture!
YESSSSSSS

I love Catmeleon!

Sculpture suggestion: The Radiance, I would love to see your take on it
her human version?
absolutely AWESOME!
I watched a ton of North of the Border videos and I have no idea how come youtube recommend me your channel so late. glad it eventually did though
very talented work, love it!
I feel like this version of Hornet brings her that much closer to the Dark Souls universe. Great work my friend!
So happy you made another Hollow Knight sculpture!! Looks incredible! I'm always amazed by your knack for anatomy :)

Awesome job!

I cant express how happy i am that my favourite sculpting channel is making another video on my favourite game
As an amateur sculptor myself I just wanted to say that you are a big inspiration to me. Keep up the good work, love the human-hornet concept by the way.
I love listening to you describe your thought process and how you address the various problems and challenges that come up.
i really love the circling around an enemy pose. Good job very inspiring!
You always say 'in the interest of not making this longer' but like, I'm so here for the longer. I can't wait to join your Patreon!
I'm already waiting for a series with him playing most of the hollow knight characters!😊
amazing work man
btw,i cant thank you enough for giving me the inspiration to make a bloodborne sculpture myself, because although its not at all perfect, its good enough and the process tought me so many things about the clay i use.Cant thank you enough
I love this! Her character design would be great for a character from the Locked Tomb series too.
I’ve only just discovered your channel recently but I am so amazed and entranced by the grasp you have on anatomy, it’s such a treat to get to see how you build up the body layer by layer and I will definitely be using your videos whenever I need a physical anatomy reference for more dynamic poses. I really love seeing the rough anatomy stage in your videos.
Awesome!
this sculpt is wonderful. absolutely amazing. i love it. thank you so much for sharing those process videos. what a king
I always find amazing on how by explaining your process while showcasing your process makes me feel calm and enjoy every second of it.
Love your art, and the fact that you're real while doing so.
Keep it up and thank you for sharing. It's inspiring (:
random youtube recommendations have been great lately. This sculpture looks so good
As an avid North of the Border watcher, I internally screamed "rocky texture!" when you started working on the base.
The cloths gives me a dishonored vibe and I really enjoy this. Thankyou for sharing it and the whole process with us!
I just wanted to let you know that I love your channel! The sculptures are incredible, the painting is great, the editing is really good, and the voiceovers are helpful and enjoyable. Absolutely flabberghasting talent. INCREDIBLE work, INCREDIBLE craftmanship
Wow absolutely amazing! The ease in which you create flawless anatomy is just breathtaking. What a stunning piece, and great video…thoroughly enjoyed seeing your process! 🔥 🔥 🔥
Knowledge that comes at a cost, even if that cost was just the act of writing it down, is always retained more deeply
Amazing work as always, Art. Keep up the good work!
Another banger sculpture! can't wait for Silksong as well
This sculpture remembered me about Malenia... Imagine mixing the hornet on that!
This sculpture is amazing and it's so fun to see how you work around design aspect and implement them in this version whilst still adding your own spins on it and this turned out awesome

This looks amazing! I'm so glad to see your process on each sculpture.
Her clothes underneath the cloak and all the buttons reminded me alot of Vergil from DMC5 haha! She came out incredible!
This incredible figure deserved a bigger base. But his work is incredible, congratulations!

6:59 yep... I bet this man has seen things from the fandom HAHAHAHA
I am such a big fan of your work man you are my biggest inspiration by far.

It’s always sooo cool, that you let us be part of the whole sculpturing journey ❤❤❤❤ and the result is soooo cool 🫶🫶🫶🫶
Fantastic scultture! The amount of thought you put into each section and your though process on how you wanted it to come together is really clear!
Looks pretty freaking awesome to me.

Your series of episodes are binge worthy! Love it ❤
I loved the North the Border callout - It seemed like a crossover episode :D
Thank you for being an isnpiration.
It looks fantastic ! It reminds me of the fantasy book series Mistborn for some reason
The pigtails going up because of the motion was a genius idea!! And I love the lore you made along with it! I also love and admire how you are so honest about your mistakes!!
00:47 The figurine in the background turning around gave me the tingles. Lol

Incredible sculpture once again!

I legit squealed when you mentioned North Of The Border!
Would you be up to make something like Adam's man-spider or man-ant? Would be awesome!
I admire your work and I like how you imagine the characters.
Bro, you're a legend! I really enjoy your videos.

kitty litter and wood glue does rock great
Finally a new video! love your content man 🤟

"im going to make the face softer" proceeds to yet again make the exact same chiseled model face....
When you were trying out the different poses in the beginning I could actually see and hear the fight. I think you adapted her gestures really well! The red eyes make it look a bit like she's infected but I can see why you wanted the pop of colour. This turned out really beautiful!

Impressive!
Art Chong Art ! Could you pls make a Medusa sculpture ? Like the one in the clash of the titans remake ? It would be out of this world with your level of detail and painting skills !!!
Beautiful work. Taking a cartoon and making a realistic human is a challenge but you pulled it off. It's easy to see Hornet in the final piece.
Art. Art. Art .... that was just breath taking. With you through the highs and lows to the final great end result.
