Off-duty cops within Hoods is canon since the ones with pantyhoses and jackets can shout "Freeze! You dumbass!" as if they accidentally used police lingo and tried to cover it up by insulting Cash, not to mention they sound more gruff and are older than the other Hoods. This is the type of worldbuilding that makes Rockstar great.
I think Carcer City is actually based on Camden New Jersey a city just outside Philadelphia that was once a vast growing community based around the industrialization of Philly, but has fallen into decay. The crime there has gotten so bad that local authorities have experimented with CCTV surveillance to monitor the streets and crack down on crime. The CCTV system similar to what Stark Weather uses in the game.

so glad to see Manhunt get talked about and all the lore explained in 2023. this game has such an atmosphere that i genuinely have not seen or felt from any other. the real world tie-ins like the valiant video website, serial killer names, and news about this game's violence almost made it all feel like a fantastic fever dream. there may nvr be something as dark and gruesome as Manhunt ever again, but a thoughtful remaster, direct sequel, or 3rd unrelated story would be absolutely insane

Very well said mate 👍👏 couldn’t agree more. I spent a lot of time on edge in this game and it really ramps up the tension and feeling of unease even 20 years later! The tension in Subnautica and Alien Isolation reminds me of the feeling i had all those years ago in Manhunt! A good quality remake with emphasis on the stealth and thinking on your feet in regards to crafting, hiding, distracting, etc would be incredible. Think about how many options there are in Metal Gear Solid V to mess with guards, or how they adapt to you; (for example they will start wearing helmets if you go for headshots a lot) Imagine that kind of AI , made way more aggressive and suspicious. Able to co ordinate and use the same tools you have to help flush you out or corner you... Put that AI in a modern engine and stick with the story , create the different stages as individual sandboxes with their own loot, terrain, pros and cons(if it’s a wet muddy zoo your footprints could give you away?)weather,

@@SODAMEiSTER Totally, man. Jimmy's good side always got so evident in the moments he decided to help Petey, Zoey, Edna, Ms. Phillips, Mr. Galloway, etc... Jimmy is not the "golden boy" type, but he always seemed to care much about some people to simply become a Serial Killer in the end.
its such a reach. just a tumblr style clueless fan theory. why would an innocent school themed game’s protagonists end up to be more murderous than all other rockstar protagonists combined
Dan Houser had already confirmed and stated long ago that he'd never seen Jimmy as "that level of degenerate" and how he's too white collar to be a carjacker or any kind of criminal. What people also don't seem to understand is that, just because characters and even places are being referenced in another Rockstar game, does not mean they are within the same universe. For example, characters like Tommy, CJ, Claude, etc. names are written on a wall in GTA IV. Doesn't mean they are in the HD universe. Or really, making any reference to that at all. It's just a simple nod and a bit of fun on their side to reference beloved protagonists from their previous games. I feel like the only exception to that rule about universes when it comes to GTA was Claude Speed, who was in GTA 2 and GTA 3 and GTA SA. And those were the times before Rockstar established the whole different GTA universes thing, iirc. (In case anyone doesn't know, in the past, there was an official Rockstar character quiz which did refer to GTA 3 Claude as Claude Speed, along with a Q&A rockstar did giving a nod to that by saying his surname 'may or may not' be Speed.) Though, still a mystery, I feel like there are more reasons for that connection than believing James is Jimmy.
55:40 Seeing this right now makes me so happy, thanks for the credit. I made this iceberg and version of Manhunt 2 because i love our community and i want to give that game the justice it deserves. Nice video, you only missed a few parts of the iceberg but still real good content!
So something I haven’t been able to find any mention of from the 2nd game, is that on the first chapter Awakening after the fisticuffs tutorial, Leo tells you to ‘get patched up’, and if you stay there staring at Leo through the bars instead of going for the meds and the syringe in the adjacent room, Leo will start rambling on about how he wants to take over Danny’s body, and if you look closely you can see a certain texture on him, sorta like he’s glitching. It’s a huge spoiler for it being on the first 5 minutes of the game, but it’s a pretty cool detail that apparently remains kinda hidden even within the fan community.
can you share how you heard it? how long did you have to wait, what platform, whether you took damage during the fight or not etc. i'm asking because i've dug through the files and tested in game yet i haven't heard what you're talking about
they probably just reused his enemy AI stuff from personality clash, it happens even if you don't "stare at him" sometimes (in my experience on the console versions moreso than the PC) just a bug I'd say
It sucks that it was revealed by the police that in the murder case about manhunt 1 it was the victim who use to play the game, not the perpetrator but the media still blamed Rockstar. Starkweather encouraging quotes are like a teacher guiding a student, while Leo's are like a proud older brother lol
Fair points in regards to Starkweather and Leoin terms of how they treat us in both games. I didn’t realize until you pointed it out in regards to the dynamics they both had. I also agree that the murder case, although incredibly tragic, was certainly unfair to all parties including Rockstar. An innocent person, a fan of theirs, was killed and they were then blamed.

@Go Birds the 1st game is definitely worth playing. It's easily accessible on multiple platforms. The 2nd game however isn't for sale anywhere as far as I can remember, so you'll have to go through either key websites or find a rom to play it on PC. And of course physical copies are available, however they'll be the censored versions of the game.
@@mustbemeech Just got the first one on Xbox one about 2 months ago and even 20 years later, it's still an amazing game! A lot of it was nostalgia cuz it was one of my favorite games as a teen but it was also just a really fun game too. If you enjoy the stealth style at the start and can get used to the somewhat poor shooting controls later in the game, you'll like it. I'd give it 10/10 even with the few issues it has but that's just me, to each their own. It's a bit slower paced than GTA and you have to use stealth, going guns blazing will get you killed immediately. That being said, it's got a great story and is probably one of the best rockstar games from the 3D universe, right up there with GTA 3, vice city and San Andreas imo!
In 1994 a man named Tom Hallorn was arrested in London for selling snuff films, in the tabloid newspaper's it said "Mr Nasty sells death videos to our kids"
He could also be a reference to the unidentified Australian criminal dubbed as "Mr. Cruel". He's committed some extremely depraved crimes and wore a signature balaclava - something that Mr. Nasty can be seen wearing in a photo on the game's website.
12:25 you're mistaken, Gary Schaffer got his corruption charges dropped BEFORE the events of Manhunt 1. Those were separate charges, he actually got arrested after the first manhunt

The photo of Cash in San Fierro police station can actually fit into canon since during the events of San Andreas, Cash was on the run from the law so the station would probably have "wanted"/"if you see this man call 911" type photos
What disturbs me the most is that the Valiant Video Enterprises website was designed to look like it came from the deep web...in 2003. _Long_ before the dark web entered the public imagination. I don't want to know what kind of research they had to do to get the aesthetics right.
Mr. Nasty could be a reference to Mr. Cruel, a serial child diddler in Austrailia known mostly for the fact that he never got caught and no one has any clue who he is. While there are three confirmed cases of him kidnapping and diddling, there are suspected earlier cases as well and a later murder that may or may not be related to him. While Mr. Cruel didn't fund or make snuff films the resemblence in name and the fact that no one has a clue who Mr. Nasty is makes him a possible inspiration for R* creating the character.
Apparently there was also a guy in the 80s who was selling R and X rated movies to kids in the uk who got the moniker “mr nasty” by the press after he was caught
Regarding mr cruel, there is a theory that he was actually one of the most infamous and evil people to exist, Peter Scully, who lived in that city around that time and did the exact same things mr cruel did, but on tape. He is currently in prison in Singapore and claims he is a victim or some shit like that.
@@josgretf2800I highly doubt Scully would be an inspiration for Mr Nasty since Manhunt was developed and released WAY before Peter Scully was ever even known to exist.

I've been talking about manhunt 3 with a few friends and most agree that with the advanced graphics and society being so sensitive now, cancel culture would jump all over it and it'll never happen. I hope they're wrong and Rockstar has some guts like they did 20 years ago but tbh, I feel like they're no longer the edgy company that they used to be, the money they made from GTA 5 and online made them just another large, soulless AAA gaming company that only cares about getting rich. In GTA 5, they had transgender NPCs when it first came out but woke culture started crying and instead of telling them to get thicker skin, R* actually removed them from the game smh. GTA: The definitive edition did the same garbage, in vice city they changed Phil's confederate flag shirt and removed some of the dialogue involving the Haitians too because of course, people are offended by everything. By the looks of it, Rockstar has turned into a bunch of woke sell outs... 🤦😢
@@Blunt_Man Gta Online ruined them. They used to make a wide range of amazing games. Bully, The Warriors, Manhunt, all left to rot. I grew up on Rockstar but its just not the same.
The crazy thing about Donald Love is that even if he ISN'T 'a Manhunt character' technically, he's STILL objectively one of the most fucked up Rockstar characters with possibly the highest canonical body count out of anyone else save for Toni Cipriani himself. His cannibalism was already revealed in 3, but displayed in full glory and amped up past 11 in LCS. But that's not the craziest thing he does: he very casually orchestrates what would've been at the time of the game's story (1998) the single deadliest instance of domestic terrorism the whole country had ever seen. After getting bankrupted by a failed mayoral election campaign -- which included Love conspiring with the Leones to pit the other gangs against each other to aid his propaganda pushes and property value manipulation schemes -- he enlists Toni to rig several high-power bombs beneath specific spots in underground tunnels beneath Fort Staunton, which blows the whole area to smithereens which kills hundreds or thousands of innocents instantly. He devises this plan using re-development plans created by his mentor, Avery Carrington (introduced in vice city), which he acquires by murdering a fleeing Avery (although he comments that Avery would've done the same to him had the financial incentive presented itself and would've been proud of his successful assassination and usurping). This makes him even more wealthy than he was prior. Oh, and he is revealed in LCS to stage *morgue parties* where he's heavily implied to engage in necrophilia in addition to the indiscriminate cannibalism. Despite being one of the most abhorrent characters ever introduced, he ultimately ends up escaping all consequences (at least immediate) by disappearing/escaping capture/assassination during the events of GTA 3. Such a fascinating, insane character.
There was always something about this game and franchise I truly liked, granted its pretty out there with its horror but it always stuck with me and genuinely terrified me. Thank you for making me love Manhunt even more!
I can't believe I never noticed that Antonio Nappa from "Oz" and Hector from "Breaking Bad" were the same actor! I just replayed "Manhunt" like 2 months ago for the first time in maybe 15 years and I completely missed that little detail. Oz is one of my all-time favorite shows ever made right along with Breaking Bad then Manhunt is one of my all-time favorite video games ever made too so I love that little detail! Hearing the tramp's voice after knowing, it's obvious that it's the same guy and that small detail just makes the game that much more amazing! Great video, thanks for making it!
sorry to "umm acshually" u but, the murder case that involved the media saying the police found a copy of manhunt is a bit deeper than just that, the family did try to sue but they failed because it turned out the game was found in the victims room, not the killer's. (also there is an uncensored version of the manhunt 2 for the wii, although i think it only released on certain countries) (also also the first tier of the iceberg the abandoned house its probably referring to in Bully is one that supposedly has piggsy inside, theres a really old video on youtube where it shows if you get close you can hear piggsy but it may have been a hoax, i dunno)
In regards to Manhunt & Bully links, instead of Cash and Jimmy being related, I've always wondered about the potential of *Leo Kasper & Gary* being related: * Similar head shape * Similar facial features * Both have sociopathic tendencies * Both manipulate and get in the head of the main character and others to do their bidding
Perhaps, but I don't believe Gary would be short of one psychosis breakdown from becoming Leo Kasper since all we know, Leo was dead way before Bully and Manhunt 2, as a government hitman and all.
Idk when Bully takes place but Manhunt definitely takes place before San Andreas especially considering the types of weapons & squad car & swat vehicles & uniforms the police have & use , Manhunt definitely takes place in the late 80's or early 90's most likely before San Andreas!!!!! The police haven't used or carried revolvers or billy clubs since the early 90's !!! The same with the SWAT team weapons & uniforms , those are late 80's early 90's standard weapons & riot gear also!!!!

I’m thinking the whole JEC and Sons was just an Easter egg, since the level Assassination and all of the Leo levels were in 2001, two years before Manhunt and 5 years before the main story of 2. Alternatively though, if we find out that James Earl Cash is actually JEC Jr., his dad or maybe even grandfather could be the JEC that owns the construction company. As for the Jimmy Hopkins theory, it’s worth noting that regardless of timing of the school days in theories, Cash was already wanted in San Andreas in 1992.
I honestly dont believe the "Cash and Hopkins are the same" theory although they could be father and son since Hopkins looks like a cross between Cash and Jimmy's mother.
Considering the types of weapons & police & swat vehicles & uniforms the police have & use , Manhunt definitely takes place in the late 80's or early 90's most likely before San Andreas!!!!!
I'm pretty sure there's a joke from Trevor about Cash being an associate of his. Also, Carcer is based on Chicago. Quite heavily. I asked a friend who worked on the games about it a while back.
Pretty sure Carcer city just takes reference to the rustbelt in general, not just Detroit and Chicago both being part of the rust belt, but pieces from all over the belt to create this decaying once flourishing city which is what the rust belt now represents. A place that used to be booming in the steel and automotive production industry before being abandoned and left to rust.
Fun fact: one of the Smilyez members, Fug, is voiced by actor Glenn Fleshler who played Errol Childress/The Yellow King in True Detective Season 1. The actor also portrayed the bootlegger, George Remus, in Boardwalk Empire.
Here two things t2 will do with the manhunt franchise: 1. Just sit on it and do nothing with it. 2. Make a reboot or 3rd manhunt game, but wind up less violent than its predecessor to avoid further controversies. Honestly, manhunt is no longer possible since itll either get flak from the fanbase or by the normies
I dont know if this was covered in the video, but here's a fun fact: On PS2 and Xbox, if you connect a microphone you can actually lure out hunters using your voice
I believe the "JEC and Sons" billboards in MH2 are just simple easter eggs/callbacks to the first game, so it's definitely possible that Cash is Jimmy's father. Also Manhunt 2 takes place in 2012, with the flashback scenes taking place in 2006.
W video, never thought someone would do an iceberg about manhunt. Hope we can get more obscure ones like max payne and midnight club icebergs from you.
The use of TV-MK in the final version of Manhunt 2 makes me wonder if it was originally supposed to play a much larger role in the story. Especially with how early on Lamb was supposed to be a religious fanatic presumably hallucinating both the Voice of God and Frisbee. (Plus in the final game Danny mentions how he used to watch TV-MK all the time as a kid.) It's possible that Frisbee and "The Voice of God" in the early build could have been the result of TV-MK's influence on Lamb. Ditto for the extreme depravity and violence of the hunters. (Sort of like the broadcast tower from Outlast 2.) Maybe the Project was going to use that to create and activate the sleeper personalities instead of the Pickman Bridge. This also brings up the possibility that the Red Kings, Project Militia, Watchdogs, Pervs, and Bloodhounds were all be failed experiments dumped back onto the streets or reassigned as bodyguards like the beta Legion. (Would also explain why the Legion, Militia, and Red Kings wore full masks in the beta, they were either left mutilated or had to conceal themselves while the separate personality was in control.) Lastly, in the final game it's insinuated that the Bridge didn't take effect until Danny was exposed to a broadcast at Pickman's lab. Maybe the same was for the hunters as well? (The brainwashing broadcast in the final game flashes images of a couple being intimate, American flags, and phrases like "trust the Project" interspersed with violence. Cue the Pervs and Red Kings who are extremely depraved and obsessed with sex on top of being violent sadists, the Bloodhounds who are raging jingoistic bigots who constantly accuse Daniel of being an "American traitor", and the Project Militia and Watchdogs who place protecting the Project over their own self-preservation.) As speculation as to how this could have existed as early as the Frisbee Build, in the scene select Domestic Disturbance is still listed as the 3rd level, and a beta Militia gas mask is used as the background image for the Display option in the main menu. (Adding further to this during the early build menu transition the name "Frisbee and Freaks can be seen briefly flashing on the screen. While in the final game one of the shows that airs on TV-MK is called "Frankie and Freaks." Also one of the images shows what looks like Daniel's arm gripping onto Frisbee in a toolshed with a camera connected to some string presumably filming him.) The only thing that doesn't slot neatly into this is Leo since we can assume at that point he was still a separate character. Especially since he performs the same role that Frisbee and The Voice had in earlier stages of development. (Egging on Daniel to commit increasingly gruesome acts)
From what I can tell, Leo’s role at this point was to be a (real) ex gov/project agent who goes rogue after being disillusioned with their practices and genuinely tries to help Danny, at least at first. He was meant to be a more morally grey character at this point I believe. I also believe your point about TV-MK (originally called MK-TV) is accurate, because in the final PS2 and PSP versions of the tv station level Leo actually does mention that project used the station to shoot coded messages into all their agents heads and give them orders that way, these lines don’t exist in the other versions and it’s just glossed over very quickly anyway which seems odd. There’s a lot of concept art from developers focusing on the station and the show’s related to it that, I’m sure it played a much bigger role in the earlier drafts of the story and went in hand with the hunters employed by the project.
I hated Manhunt 2 and how every single gun blows the head off of the hunters , it made it not as cool & it got old quicker unllike in the first game were u could only explode a head with the shotgun which is way more realistic
I always thought that J.E. Cash was an independent cold-bloodied professional hired killer. Possibly demobbed from military service due to nearly beating to death a commanding officer. To him murder is almost mathematical , it would explain his instinctual knowledge for all kinds of weaponry. He grew up in a violent house hold , a sullen character who would speak seldomnly in a trailer park somewhere just on the outskirts of Las Vanturas. Similar to the protagonist of GTA3 he did a lot of hits for various factions. He was double-crossed by one highrollee who held a lot of clout and could pull the strings. Possibly one Donald Love ( who could also be Mr.Nasty ) who has already demonstrated his degenerate desires which include Recreational cannibalism.
I thought along the same lines. Possible some military involvement, and dishonourably discharged due to a possible manslaughter from an altercation with a fellow soldier. I wonder was this actually meant for Cash, but abbreviated in a sense to Vic Vance later? Cash definitely worked as a gun-for-hire for a crime syndicate in Las Venturas though, the Mafia possibly?
And with the project miltia being called Hades, Hades is the Greek god of the underworld (hell) and Cerberus is the 3 headed dog that protects the underworld in Greek mythology
With the lost menu there’s a lot of cameras and a brief scene with text saying “Frisbee and the Freaks” possibly a TV show could be connected with MH1’s credits
I knew about the previous ideas of Danny being an extremist religious but I´ve never heard or seen nothing related to a puppet to which is insanely fascinating, I recall watching some videos (in spanish) about thar version of the game but they never talked about puppets and some else to add is the fact that they cancellled that version when they acquire the studio (because, yeah, is was a whole different studio separate from Rockstar or at least they have a lot more control over the game until Rockstar stepped in, or that´s what the video said to which they were talking about the development nightmare that was Manhunt 2), so I believe the story would be unfolded like what we can see in Hotline Miami 2 in which there is a character that kinda resemblance the latter in the fact that both share the puppet thing that makes them do stuff like killing random people, the difference being the fact that one do it for clout and the other for religious puposes, check the story of officer Manny Pardo who after seen the previous massacred with people wearing animal mask, he decides to start doing it for clout as they sees them as they were doing it just for fame and he apperantly was a failed ventriloquist and the puppet talks about getting into fame by doing the same things as those people but "better" (Obviously more and more gruesome as the case doesnt get the recognition he wants); I know is really different than what they have planned for Danny in the OG version but still you can see were or even how they could have pulled off.
I have always had the head cannon that Danny and Crazy Ron in GTA V are the same person. He looks like an older Danny and is as insane as Danny was In Manhunt 2
Why is this game so addictive and interesting? Its not even the violence itself that makes it appealing to me. Its the dark gritty atmosphere of carcer city. These old games like this and silent hill had a really unique way of presenting atmosphere. Desaturated color scheme, along with the dark synth soundtrack that was brilliant. The story isnt thorough on who Cash is or whats going on the background behind everything in this game but the NPCs give off little tid bits that allow you to infer about who he is and the whole story is just a hellish mess, and Cash is the devil among demons. Theyre hunting you, but the reality is you're hunting them. You're the real terror but you still feel like when that music kicks in you're in fear, and when the music cuts off omniously and all you hear is that heartbeat and just gives you this slight sinking feeling. Its just so good.
Brian Cox being starkweather is a direct reference to him playing Hannibal Lector in the the movie Manhunter (based on the book, red dragon which was later rebooted as its own film of the same title)
I love both Postal and Hatred ngl. shame Hatred got hated for it's subject matter. it's literally a game that takes place in a fictional setting with no one actually getting hurt. it's just NPC's that are being killed. not real people.
@@lambda-m1676 it’s just a game. Nobody is actually being hurt. People who actually took it very seriously reminds me of how people took other games seriously due to the material that they had. Stuff that wasn't covered: The guy who voices Starkweather was the original Hannibal Lecter in the film "Manhunter". One of the Smileyz was voice by Glenn Fleshler, who was in True Detective. The Cerberus unit are a nod to Kerberos Panzer Cop, a manga by Ghost in the Shell director Mamoru Ooshi which has had a few film adaptations over the years. "Mr Nasty" is a name which isn't allowed to be used on R* Social Club and has been the case since it started during Max Payne 3's initial release (it's not taken, it's literally not allowed). The Manhunt game was found in the victim's house and not the killer's house, evidenced by the legal proceedings involved around the story. There's also some links between The Tramp and some cut content in GTA3 concerning a mission involving uhhh... an ice ream truck and a kill streak or smth? I forget off the top of my head. Also, a reminder: anyone using an Innocentz mask in GTAV should be griefed for being a MAP.
The tramp you're referring to in GTA 3 was Darkel, and he wasn't the same tramp as the one in Manhunt. Rockstar has made some statements about the character and basically, he was originally the character that gave the rampage missions, but some of the missions he gave actually made it to the final game. The ice cream truck thing in particular is a mission in the final game- "I Scream, You Scream", and it's given by El Burro in one of the payphone missions, but it's different from the beta version that Darkel gave because El Burro's version has you using an ice cream truck to lure gangsters to it and then blowing it up, whereas Darkel's version had you luring random pedestrians to it to blow them up.
Here's a little fact about the Manhunt Steam version: Rockstar sells Razor's cracked executable, although masked, and is why it doesn't work on current operative systems. The original crack worked up to Windows XP, but Rockstar wasn't aware of that and the anti-piracy measures are triggered in Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10 and 11. Vadim M made a video about this in depth, but in short, Rockstar was so lazy on the Steam release that they took an ancient crack, removed Razor's signature, and didn't bother to test it before selling it on Steam, leading people to believe the game had compatibility issues when in reality they're falling victim of the built-in anti-piracy measures, even though they legally own the game.
Tramp is a former leader of Smileys according to the concept art. He was supposed to be a later boss fight in the game but was cut. Hence the star casting for the role
Jon Bernthal was on the credits for manhunt too. I believe he was one of the Cerberus guys. Man I wish they would make a movie with Jon Bernthal as James Earl Cash and Brian cox reprising his role as Starkweather

The CCTV system similar to what Stark Weather uses in the game.

so glad to see Manhunt get talked about and all the lore explained in 2023. this game has such an atmosphere that i genuinely have not seen or felt from any other. the real world tie-ins like the valiant video website, serial killer names, and news about this game's violence almost made it all feel like a fantastic fever dream. there may nvr be something as dark and gruesome as Manhunt ever again, but a thoughtful remaster, direct sequel, or 3rd unrelated story would be absolutely insane
i think with todays graphics, the violence would be much to much for most people lol

Think about how many options there are in Metal Gear Solid V to mess with guards, or how they adapt to you; (for example they will start wearing helmets if you go for headshots a lot)
Imagine that kind of AI , made way more aggressive and suspicious. Able to co ordinate and use the same tools you have to help flush you out or corner you...

I believe Jimmy Hopkins is not James Cash.
Jimmy was some sort of "anti-hero", but Jimmy would never become a killer. That's more Gary's style...
Agreed.
Jimmy never struck me as the silent but deadly type.... hes cocky and tough but with a good heart.
(In case anyone doesn't know, in the past, there was an official Rockstar character quiz which did refer to GTA 3 Claude as Claude Speed, along with a Q&A rockstar did giving a nod to that by saying his surname 'may or may not' be Speed.) Though, still a mystery, I feel like there are more reasons for that connection than believing James is Jimmy.
that theory is dumb

You knocked it out of the park, subsections in icebergs are such a great idea. Great job man.
There’s always a but.
I remember hearing him rambling too but I forgot what he was saying. I remember it seemed kinda insulting tho
When I first played the game I noticed it too
I didn't notice that when I watched the gameplay. Now umma have to go back and see
can you share how you heard it? how long did you have to wait, what platform, whether you took damage during the fight or not etc.
i'm asking because i've dug through the files and tested in game yet i haven't heard what you're talking about
they probably just reused his enemy AI stuff from personality clash, it happens even if you don't "stare at him" sometimes (in my experience on the console versions moreso than the PC) just a bug I'd say

The use of TV-MK in the final version of Manhunt 2 makes me wonder if it was originally supposed to play a much larger role in the story. Especially with how early on Lamb was supposed to be a religious fanatic presumably hallucinating both the Voice of God and Frisbee. (Plus in the final game Danny mentions how he used to watch TV-MK all the time as a kid.)
It's possible that Frisbee and "The Voice of God" in the early build could have been the result of TV-MK's influence on Lamb.
(Would also explain why the Legion, Militia, and Red Kings wore full masks in the beta, they were either left mutilated or had to conceal themselves while the separate personality was in control.)
Lastly, in the final game it's insinuated that the Bridge didn't take effect until Danny was exposed to a broadcast at Pickman's lab. Maybe the same was for the hunters as well? (The brainwashing broadcast in the final game flashes images of a couple being intimate, American flags, and phrases like "trust the Project" interspersed with violence. Cue the Pervs and Red Kings who are extremely depraved and obsessed with sex on top of being violent sadists, the Bloodhounds who are raging jingoistic bigots who constantly accuse Daniel of being an "American traitor", and the Project Militia and Watchdogs who place protecting the Project over their own self-preservation.)
As speculation as to how this could have existed as early as the Frisbee Build, in the scene select Domestic Disturbance is still listed as the 3rd level, and a beta Militia gas mask is used as the background image for the Display option in the main menu. (Adding further to this during the early build menu transition the name "Frisbee and Freaks can be seen briefly flashing on the screen. While in the final game one of the shows that airs on TV-MK is called "Frankie and Freaks." Also one of the images shows what looks like Daniel's arm gripping onto Frisbee in a toolshed with a camera connected to some string presumably filming him.)
The only thing that doesn't slot neatly into this is Leo since we can assume at that point he was still a separate character.

LOL that was one long ass sentence. You gotta learn to use periods.
Would love to see you tackle the POSTAL franchise and maybe even hatred too
I love both Postal and Hatred ngl. shame Hatred got hated for it's subject matter. it's literally a game that takes place in a fictional setting with no one actually getting hurt. it's just NPC's that are being killed. not real people.
@@SethirophBayonet666 couldn't agree more
@@SethirophBayonet666 Hatred is just edginess for the sake of edginess. The guy is like every mid-2010 teenager's OC ever
@@lambda-m1676 it’s just a game. Nobody is actually being hurt. People who actually took it very seriously reminds me of how people took other games seriously due to the material that they had. Like for example. Mortal Kombat with the gore. And GTA with its violent content. Hell, even SomeOrdinaryGamers was talking about how Hatred is just a game and people cannot take it too seriously.
@@SethirophBayonet666 I know, but the edginess is just....eugh, mid-2000s
The Pickman Bridge is MK-Ultra, also most abuse victims have split personalities. I think everything in the game is based on real stuff.

Awesome video dude! I'm playing through Manhunt on ps4 right now and I forgot how much I missed playing it all these years. I bought it the day it originally came out and it still blows my mind how amazing it really is. I wish people didn't complain about everything because a remastered version of both games or a reboot even would be the best thing ever if it was released now adays. I'm sure that will never happen.
The original story with the puppet influencing Danny to kill sounds amazing. Manhunt 2 seems like it could have been amazing but so much was cut and rearrange it felt like a mess
I was on the MH2 team and personally really loved the puppet idea. It could have worked out as something absolutely unique like no other game at the time . My personal version of it woud have turned out to be a velintroquist/split personality story.

54:16 I worked at a comic shop in high school and somehow we were sent that press kit. My boss gave it to me because he knew how much I loved the first game. We still have no idea why we as a comic shop we’re sent it
I mailed it to Frank Cifaldi last year.

Fun fact: The voice actor of the Strange Man in RDR1, also voices one of the Watchdogs in Manhunt 2.
been playing Manhunt since 2003, sir your work is admirable

Pretty sure the PS2 release did have civilian NPCs that could be executed. It was the neighborhood level when you're sneaking through backyards. If you get caught in the sensor light, they come running out of the house to attack you
Man i would like to see a video like this made on "The Suffering" series of games
Amazing video. You really helped me understand manhunt's lore better especially 2
Great content! This video was well put together, and actually enlightened me on some topics about manhunt that I didn’t know. Keep it up!
First video, *sees its about Manhunt* subbed.
If Rockstar had balls they'd make Manhunt 3 and just "leak" an uncensored patch.
They won't. They never will either.

Fat chance. Rockstar has lost the balls when they milked GTA V for the past 10 years.
Brian Cox was also the original Hannibal Lecter in the movie Manhunter in 1986.

One thing that wasn't mentioned - in the very first level of Manhunt 1, just before you execute the first Hunter, there is a Valiant Video Enterprises van you can spot. If I remember correctly this is the only in-game reference to Valiant Video Enterprises.

But that would still fit in their morbid lore any how, some of them just happen to tap into some Supernatural Properties... Just to defile again, as much as they wish... Truly the epitome of human malice (to further regards for Supernatural Circumstances: There's legit Satan in RDR, UFO Easter eggs in Bully, Spirits, etc etc. I wouldn't be surprised if they included that in Manhunt as is XD).
