This video feels like you're having way more fun than in other iceberg videos . Like, most of your other iceberg videos are pretty straight forward, but this one has you cracking in and editing jokes on the topics as well as explaining them
You should have included that alternate ending where Hal from Malcolm in the middle wakes up and reveals that breaking bad was just a nightmare it was just a comedy skit but I don’t think many people know of it
1:31:34 skylar wasn’t trying to drown herself infront of everyone, she wants to stay alive to protect junior and holly from walter. she wants to go under the water so walter will stop. talking. stop. lying. in this scene walter is talking on and on and on and skylar just wants quiet. the water is peaceful and quiet,
I think that was season 2 episode 5, "Fuel Huell". Jesse and Walt both realize the stress is getting to them while at Saul's office and Huell overhears them. They all smoke weed together and go go-karting and I think in a montage there's a short scene of Walter laughing at Jesse wearing a propeller cap licking a huge lollipop, causing him to cry
Every day I think of the alternate universe in which Jesse died in season 1 and never got to become its heart and soul. No pun intended, but what a bullet dodged.
You forgot to mention that "Matthew Broderick" was originally supposed to play as Walter White and "Penn Badgley" as Jesse Pinkman before they chose with Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul for the role. Just something to think about what it would've been like if the two iconic actors weren't pick for the show.
28:53 lithium is also frequently used to make their famous "product" and a lot of people consider the meaning to actually be, _"Blood, METH and tears"_ which imo makes more sense.
This! Makes way more sense, obviously they'd want to reference the crystal instead of just "sweat" in their series finale of a show that's literally about the meth trade and the extremely skilled chemist who's supplying the majority of the southwest and even parts of Europe iirc.
I was a kid watching breaking bad I remember hating Skyler so much. As I got older and my brain formed I found she was the best character in the show. Talking to people I know who were already adults when it came out like my parents/coworkers, I think the Skyler hate came from mostly teen/young adult men who comprised the online fanbase.
Yeah, the Skyler hate was ridiculous. The only actual bad things i can remember her doing in the show were smoking while pregnant and cheating on her husband but even then, considering Walt literally tried to force himself on her in season 2, I really can't blame her for that
People were just rooting for Walt, and they got carried away with perceiving her as a villain because they saw her as an obstacle. She should take any "hate" as a compliment to the writing and acting.
Yeah I’ve been rewatching the show now that im in my 20s and not a dumb teen, and I can’t believe I hated her like I did on my first watch. Sure she can be a bitch, but putting myself in her shoes I definitely side with her more than I do with Walt
she was just a totally annoying evil a hole in the beginning its not really that hard to understand. From the perspective of her husband doing this to save his family when he knows he's going to die soon it's not really hard to understand why you would be rooting for walt over his wife at the moment she was ungrateful and selfish and she also turned out to be hypocritical not much later. The actress did a great job as did the writers. I don't see why it's such a bad thing to have such good characters that people take sides with one or the other, thats a testament to the writing and acting not muh young men evil
thanks for the advice. I broke so badly at this video that Walter Pinkman and Jesse White broke into my home and tried to convince me to cook crack with them and their manager, Gustavo Salamanca. Now, Gustavo is rival to Hector Fring, who is also called the Bacon Man, but that’s not important to the story. Now, Mike Schrader
9:25 I met Raymond Cruz once and asked him about this and he said something along the lines of "That ad was ridiculous" (while laughing about it). Also I was an extra in BCS and I've met both Bob Odenkirk and Vince Gilligan, both are very nice. 35:13 My mom ordered from that same place for my brother's 13th birthday, and no the pizza was not cut, that isn't a joke in the show. The place was called "Venezia's Pizzeria" but now they've renamed it to "Gino's New York style pizza". Someone pretending to be Skylar White also once left a review for the place complaining that the pizza was on the roof, but rated it 5 starts anyway. 36:02 personal story. When I was background on BCS they didn't tell any of us about Jeff. I don't remember but I swear I saw him near the background extras once and literally thought nothing of it. When they filmed the shot of him leaving the changing room we all just assumed he's a featured extra for an establishing shoot, cool. Also in Payday 2 you cook meth for a man named Hector who is a rival of The Dentist, a man who hides in plan sight, he is played by the same actor as Gus.
about the payday 2 references: 1. there is also an achievement called "Breaking Dead" which you get for finding a ma(e)th lab in one of the ship containers on The Bomb: Dockyard Heist 2. on the Border Crossing Heist you can find the RV standing far away on the edge of the map, and if you get spotted and the alarm starts, the RV quickly droves off.
I actually really like the pool theory. The idea of the pool being "alive" may seem silly, but I think it adds a level of psychological horror that I find very intruiging.
Skylar is probably the most misunderstood character in all of Breaking Bad. She gets dealt one of the worst hands of anybody in the whole show. She lives a tough existence scraping by for money when her husband gets diagnosed with terminal cancer. Then, instead of taking a great job with better pay and benefits, he turns it down and suddenly becomes extremely aloof; disappearing for hours or days at a time and is constantly lying about what he’s been doing all while she is pregnant with an unexpected child. Eventually she finds out that her husband is a “manufacturer” of drugs. Anybody put into such situation would be a wreck and she lashes out like basically anybody else would. We tend to see her as some kind of a nag or even an antagonist because the show takes the POV of the character who is, ultimately, the villain of the series. She is easily one of the most real and grounded characters in the whole show and I’ve grown to appreciate her character so much more in subsequent rewatchings.
Since you mentioned the video essay discussing how stupid the whole "this is the moment Walter became Heisenberg" thing, I'm surprised this factoid didn't show up: • Walter White WAS originally written as a tragically sympathetic character early on in the show before Vince Gilligan and the rest of the show's cast and crew leaned into the idea that Walt has never been a good man, but a man incapable of hurting people. As soon as he gains the ability to dominate and hurt people, he seizes the opportunity.
29:04 Worth noting about that song, the protagonist leaves El Paso because he killed another man over Felina. He later returns because he can't stay away from her and gets gunned down trying to get back to her, almost obsessively. There's probably parallels.
I wished you talked about the amazing comic series spin-off about Mike. Chapter 2, "When in Doubt, Ehrmantraut" is one the best comics I've ever read and it's really sad no one ever talks about it.

The reason why people hate Skyler is because Walt is the point of the show. I do think it is a cope from the writers to say that Skyler was not written as the bad guy, considering they wrote. Kim completely differently for a Better Call Saul.
I think what Vince wanted to do is to show that Jessie is a martyr-like figure, rather than Jesus per se. And well, Jesus is just one the most famous martyrs
