This is one of the best simple coaching episode you have done! Coach Kim is direct, simple and easy to understand. Please bring more of these "Fix/ Tune Ups" to your channel, Thanks 😊!!!
I agree
Coach Kim is a great coach. The analysis is so on point and the corrections are clear and easy to understand.
Coach Kim is a 4.0 player. Strive to be better.
@@topspin3788 Where did you get that info!?? As a former ATP pro his bio can be found on the ATP website and has quite a decorative resume. He has also coached (toured with) one of the top Korean professionals (Hyeon Chung, ATP career high of 19th). As for his coaching, he provides insight to many rare tidbits not found in typical youtube lessons.
@@posterizedz I'm basing my "info" from what i see and hear in this video. Harry doesn't have basic understanding of how to shape a tennis ball when he hits one. This former "pro" should have the ability to see that and explain it to Harry to get him to the next level. Everything he tells Harry to do in this video will not help Harry one bit. It's all garbage "instruction" that's repeated adnauseam a million times on a million videos.
@@topspin3788 Quite strong words there for what seems like a short lighthearted session. Harry already had quite a few really basic problems (left arm use, static/tall swinging stance, racket take back). Perhaps you'll approach things differently, but I don't think addressing those basic issues one at a time is "garbage."
@@posterizedz I stand by my original stance, that when Kim sees a person(Harry) who clearly doesn't have basic ball shaping skills, and that's why Harry hits loose forehands and backhands all over the place, doesn't see this issue, and proceeds to instruct him on takeback of the racquet, as if that's going to help Harry in any way. I call it as i see it.
This video solves 80% of everyone’s forehand
this is amazing!
No. 78.5% max 😆
Good coaching we need to see coach Kim more.
It's criminal that Sky Kim is not coaching an ATP player right now. With Sky Kim, Hyeon Chung was playing semi-final at AO. Without Sky Kim, Hyeon Chung couldn't buy a win at ATP level. Sky Kim is the most articulate and knowledgeable coach there is. While I have a ton of respect for Mouratoglou, I find Sky Kim's coaching to be simply superior compared to Mouratoglou's method.
Did you bump your head? Dudes opening up way too early when he hits a forehand. That’s the very first thing that should have been addressed. Kim didn’t notice it initially.
Brilliant episode. Sky was insightful and communicated very skillfully. As others have remarked, more of this will be enjoyed and appreciated.
P.s., #4 is going to be weight transfer in your forehand.
Cheers
Just an absolute Great Coach - learned a ton! Thank you
Those few shots at 8:00 you can really see the difference, great vid. And great job being so coachable
This is on the right track! Elbow back and just relax don’t be too stiff. Also, he’s right and I’ve said it before you just aren’t dropping the racquet head! Your right hand should be below the ball and the strings should be below your hand. You’re getting good info just hit enough (properly) to make the switch
Will we see Sky play a set or tie breaker with coach Gu?
I’ve seen Sky Kim’s channel discussing the Gravity Pro. His serving and technique are beautiful to watch. Sadly I cannot swing the Gravity at a remotely similar level. But always trying to improve. Sent this video to my friend who is also working on his forehand.
one of your best videos Harry. many thanks. I am very frustrated w my forehand and this guy makes it simple. Thanks Sky.
Excellent description of how to load the shoulder for easy power.
It’s so cool hearing good coaching. Even laying in bed watching this video it’s like…”yeah! That totally make sense!”
Open stance can be a blessing and a curse. If you have good technique it works, but if not, it robs you of all your power and leads to flick shots. When you are not rushed for a forehand there is nothing like a closed stance shot with the arm pulled back. Bounce - hit, bounce hit.
Wow Harry! Your forehand is looking sooo much better now!
Similar concept as Coach Pablo taught on forehand preparation/drop zone. Very good instruction!
This is good stuff! I'm gonna try to the left elbow thing. Much respect to coach Kim, the sound of Harry's ball before and after is so different.
More content like this PLEASE. Cheers
Best tennis lesson ever many thanks to you ❤❤❤❤
Great tip on bringing the left arm back. Thanks
Really good video. Enjoyed watching this 😀
It was a great one! Very effective small details indeed. Thank you.
The problem is you do not turn your shoulder, and you use your hand to hit the ball
하늘쌤 오셨네요! 하늘 선생님을 여기서 볼 줄이야
Wow! I didn’t expect to see coach Sky in this channel. Nice surprise and thanks for uploading the good training clip. Definitely very useful!
하늘쌤 ㅋㅋ To see you on this channel, wow totally unexpected!!
WTF 5:55 thats a really nice forehand!! Keep that one and change out your old one, those are opposites! Nice evolve!!
I noticed that too. A good, experienced coach can really make a big difference.
Yo he legit looked like a completely different player on that one stroke. Need more practice and he'll get it.
Harry it seems 90% of the shots you chose open stance. It makes your body fall back (like you said in the beginning of the video). Try use more semi open or even close stance. I like shot shots at 5:45 mark. Not a bad idea to incorporate some Taekwondo into tennis. Nice video and we can already see your improvement 👏👍
Great tips. Hope Sky can add subtitles to his channel. 🙏
The different swing which Harry have problems with is not a big issue. It could have happen if the feed to him is inconsistent, or during his play he did not move to the correct position to consistently execute his default swing. However, I did notice his abbreviated swing. He go from zero to a pretty fast swing, which I strongly discourage. As a tennis player, we should never go from stand still to full throttle, especially movement wise.
Yes when you watch him, you see he "feels" rushed, that is his perception of the ball.
Can't wait to try this out!
One step closer to getting a match!
오 하늘쌤! I saw your video from the review of the slinger bag! It was August 2020!
Man, you are a good student ! And coach Kim is a good coach. 👏
Wow, Harry. Great video. Where is this instructor's UA-cam channel. Great lesson with usable immediately usable coaching.
What a great coach and nice person! 👍
Great idea, please bring Coach Kim back.
Amazing what a fantastic coach! What's his you tube channel?
2:07 Exactly what I had in mind but Sky summed it all up in 10-15 seconds.
2:42 you have to be careful not to injure yourself because that's not something Harry has done a lot of when he plays
This is a great lesson! I think Harry isn't so great at diagnosing his own strokes though:)
Lordy lord....dude just lessons. We all need it if we want to get better.
I never heard of anyone talk about loading the rear deltoid. Wild
I think Harry may hit the ball a tap too late. Also. Visited coach Kim’s channel. Unfortunately many of his videos are In Korean
Thanks a lot, very informative and understandable 🙏
great advice!
dang. professionals know their stuff!
Sky just knows what he's talking about
I think I would really enjoy Sky Kim's channel if I could speak Korean.
Where is this court? Is this where Coach Kim teaches?
Great video and great coach.
I think better not to muscle up. Always shoulder down and hits in front not in front of you so you can utilize your kinetic chain. Relax your wrist so your racket head down before hits. Relaxing your shoulder, wrist and use unit turn, so naturally you gets spinned. Good luck! I love your video, I watch Al the time. Thank you
I saw Sky win a tournament in edgewater nj long time ago. I couldn’t even see his first serves. 😂
now thats a coach who knows what he's talking about, listen to this one not the one you met in tokyo lol
you’re on fire!
내 최애 테니스 유튜버 두 명이 만나는 날이 오다니ㅋㅋ
Kim is super !!!!
Looks way more natural than previous videos for sure
What tension you have on clash? Horizontal/verical...?😊
Good tips
Closed stance, late contact point plus western grip isn’t a good combination
I am a rec player. I played in my high school and was taught a little there, then in college was taught by a D1 player, and now just self taught by watching video clips. But as you all can see, nobody hits the same way, so I finally realized that all the technique was really designed to maximize the balance and fluidity, and from there you get easy power and control. It's a lot like martial art actually. You will know it when your strokes are smooth and you're in good balance as you go through the motion of a forehand, backhand, serve, volley, etc... And then the challenge becomes what percentage of shots you can make with good balance and fluidity. And this has to do with conditioning the muscle. This is why pros hit thousands of forehand, backhand, serves, volleys, etc... because that's the only way to get muscle memory, as you have no time to think in a high level match. Without muscle memory, you are not going to achieve the consistent balance and fluidity. Another part that rec players don't often think about is footwork. It doesn't matter what your form is, you need to get to the ball while maintaining balance and fluidity up to the point the ball leaves your racquet. This is not just simply running to the ball. It's more like a choreographed dance. It's why we are taught to do split step, to shuffle our feet, taking small many mini steps to get in position. Then finally it's the mental aspect. Even though when I am in great balance, I can rip forehand and backhand effortlessly, I don't have the confidence I can do that every time, even when I am in great balance for the shot, and just a little hesitancy can cause error. Tennis is a very difficult sport for this reason. You want a perfect game, your conditioning has to last, you have to move around, dancing with the ball like on auto pilot, and your mind has to be kind of zen like. Lacking any of this and doesn't matter if you hit with good technique or not, you're gonna make errors and would lose to players who look like they don't know how to hit a proper stroke. But what they do better than you might be all the other things.
Very good comments
How can he add more topspin for consistency?
섬네일에 하늘쌤이!
Hitting the ball earlier will give you lots of free spin as well.
He gave you great tips but you have to listen and follow them... :/)
Yes subs for sky channel.
Long overdue. How people watch for string raquet advice is hilarious. I watch it for the pure comedy
Looked way better when u got a wider stance.
2 minute coach guy says to go down and up on forehand . This atp pro says not to do that . 🤔
The moment your stance widened, the quality of the forehand looked much bttr
still the same pickleball forehand :) ...............tried with coach Pablo, tried with coach, Andrew, tried with coach Gilbert, tried with coach Surina, coach Rob, ............are we still gonna see more? Keep trying Henry one day you'll get it
Good session. But it appears if you want more coaching from RTP on UA-cam, you'll need to understand Korean.
You arm the ball to much and use to much shoulders. What is your best forehand shot?
Better footwork. You don’t move your feet 🤣
Is this court in the hood? In the ghetto?
🔝🎾
Lord Lordy....
The biggest problem you have, is your weak footwork. Working on overall fitness and conditioning will fix most of your problems.
You need more similar guests. We’ve seen your store and heard you milk everything possible.
Your pro isn't a pro. He's fake. He can spit garbage instructions at you from now until you drop, and you won't learn a thing. It's about hitting through the path of the ball, nothing else matters.
Tennis is not an activity that takes years to develop, you either hit naturally from the beginning or not, if not, just have fun with playing, baseball needs years to develop, QB same, golf as well, but tennis should be natural from almost the start, give or take some initial practice.
Former collegiate tennis player here, and also taught many kids how to play with the Andy Roddick Foundation…and, that is woefully incorrect and heavily uninformed. Even many ATP players can change problematic habits & adjust their techniques mid-career. This is only part of why the most successful pros have tennis coaches and not just coaches for conditioning.
Dumbest comment of the day
@@darricks2775 Tennis is the only sport (I actually think it's more of an activity) where the crafty player will win more times over a talented player. It's a strange game. Tennis is rare in that brains and thinking account for a lot towards winning. You can be crafty and play a touch game and be uncoordinated and overweight in tennis and you can end up winning your league title, if you out think your opponent, where real sports like MLB and NFL, its mostly raw talent that allows them to react and perform, there is little thinking, maybe a QB has to use his noggin with play calling and reading defenses, but that's it, MLB is pure talent. Tennis is a good game, a thinking man's and women's game, you apply strategy, placement and outwit the opponent and you can win using a $50 racket, if the opponent is hitting fully functional shots and they look great, they can be blown off the court by someone who is crafty and hit's 40 mph serves. This is a fact.
@@TimTheMusicMan you used “this is a fact”at the end of your comment, but with all due respect, much of it it has little basis in fact and is highly subjective about what *can* happen…at what sounds like a recreational and not quite competitive level. What you refer to as “talent”, should be replaced with the word practice. Where “crafty” was used, you may be better received if using “strategic” as a more accurate substitute for describing the part of matchplay that requires forethought. But also, anyone playing at or above a USTA 4.0 level, will absolutely not be outdone by 40mph serves (unless underhand with Lots of slice, And the opponent not ready for the point to start)…if they have any amount of respectable conditioning. However if this hypothetical “overweight” person by your words, has great offensive shots of their own (via practice), then they may not need to grind out long rallies. This is probably the variable you were trying to address.. “Uncoordinated” seems an ill fit choice word. Also, the word talent seems to gets thrown around a bit too much by spectators who practice very little, and envy the results of others who’ve practiced their craft more efficiently or effectively.
Just some food for thought, from someone whose played against college players of every division, and coached kids and seen them go from “unnatural” to what you would describe as “talented” upon spectating.
Tl;dr: please do not be dismissive of the value of coaching, and practice- be it for technique, conditioning, or matchplay strategy; these are different pieces to the puzzle that *can* unlock wins for the individual player.
@@darricks2775 well said. 👍
