Firefighter injured while at a vacant house fire

Structure Fire:
Shorty after 7:00 pm Sunday evening, Winnipeg fire paramedics service got reports of a garage fire in the 500 block of Sherbrooke st.
Crews arrived and found a garage in the rear of the property fully engulfed. The fire from the garage later spread to the rear of the home.
Crews launched a defensive attack using hand lines and a Ariel ladder truck.
A search of the garage, vehicle, and residence were completed and no occupants were found. Both neighbouring homes were evacuated as a precaution.
One firefighter was injured in the line of duty. They were assessed by on-scene paramedics and transported to hospital in stable condition. No other injuries have been reported.
The fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time but the buildings have sustained significant smoke, fire, and water damage.
