The Rooster is too much and well placed!! Great video, and thank your for getting to it and not wasting a half hour of my time with discussion about liking your channel or some other explanation of garbage!
I already knew how to do this job, but watched the video to see if he used any tricks to make the job easier. I didn't learn anything I didn't already know, but I couldn't help but notice the use of the impact driver to torque all the bolts during reassembly. I'm sure that impact driver is every bit as accurate as a torque wrench, right? HA! If you've never snapped a ball joint stud, then you wouldn't realize the importance of not over-torquing them. I have had one snap while on the freeway and it almost cost me my life. Its fine to follow this guy's procedure, but I would highly recommend using a torque wrench to tighten each nut to its specified value during reassembly.
Amigo soy de México, no entiendo mucho inglés pero está perfecto tu procedimiento, me ayudó mucho con una Tacoma, realice el mismo trabajo guiandome con tu vídeo, muchas gracias
@@kimhoeunchhay4295 yeah! I got the other side done as planned. I was way faster disassembling. However i had a issue with cup size removing a joint that was not oem and had a slightly larger shoulder on the ball joint. I had to grind both the ball joint flange and the socket to fit! 😉
you dont need to remove the axle shaft, tie rod, or the swaybar link.. just remove the lower strut bolt, the 2 lower knuckle bolts (19mm), and then you can mark & loosen the LCA bolts to swing it lower.. and get a press on the ball joint.
That's what I was thinking as I just replaced struts not to long ago. I'm getting ready to change ball joints soon so it's good to see your comment as I didn't see the need to remove everything else as well.
@@AaronLives34 it's so you can get the alignment close to what it was before getting the truck to an alignment rack. You mark the position of the cam bolt relative to the mount. You may see there are already markings on the bolt head & bracket..
How come no torquee? I'm afraid it might be too tight or not too tight for your best customer? Also, i know what to buy you for Christmas...magnectic bolt dish holder.
Great video! By any chance do you know what size cups you use to remove and install the ball joint? I rented one from autozone but don't have the right sizes. Thanks
Hi, Wayne Pascual How are you? I used Snap-on BJP1 Master ball joint . I did not remember the cup size. Thank you so much for watching my video. Thank you Kim

thanks , good to know. I had a tie rod snap about 35 yrs ago and very lucky to have survived.
I like this video it’s more like doing the job and talking to himself. Good job.

I’m glad I watched this video. Was very helpful and made me laugh at times. Made my day!
Same here. It was a joy to watch.
This video helps so much on what I have to do when I lower my 05 tacoma
I like your no nonsense method and tool description. thanks! Will you do the uppers?
Yes I will
Good video, real world replacement.
Good walk through! Very helpful.
Banged one out today Sir! I had more things fighting me that’s for sure. But i persisted. Now to do the other side.
You got this!

Great job. Thaks for Sharing your experience. from Atl Ga.
thanks for the video. I think I might just buy the whole lower control arm assembly though lol
I like this guy. Subscribed.
Nicely done. Thank you.
Very helpful! Love the rooster 😂
So glad!
What size adpater did you use? I can’t find the correct size its either they’re too big or too small
Why not torque the bolt to the manufacturer specifications?

I just removed the axle bolt and 2 lower knuckle bolts swung it out of the way and used ball joint press, no need to lower control arm
Freeze the ball joint before hand and it goes in easier too
When you say mark and loosen the LCA bolts why do you need to mark them? I'm learning to do this job so asking all the questions lol

Excellent my friend just need change tacoma 2001
How did you replace the top ball joint ?
Is it just me or is that Bilstein shock crooked @22:26?
Thank you for the video Sir!
My pleasure!
Would this be the same for a 2015??
Yes, same setup
Nice video! I did notice that you didn't put the rubber dust boot on the ball joint. Did the kit not come with one?
If you notice the black rubber around the new ball joint stud that is an integral boot, nothing else required
Very informative! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is something I need done but 1) don't have any of the tools and 2) it's hard to find a knowledgeable mechanic near me.
You’re awesome 👏 a real master mechanic
Great video.
Thanks!
excellent
You don't have to remove the cv axle
what size receiving cup did you use to pull the ball joint out ?
Same here! I have a cheap ball joint puller kit and don’t have the correct size to remove the ball joint 😩 Only to install it 👍
I did not have the correct size either, very frustrating!! Had to put it all back together with out finishing the job!
@@mattb6118 Did you find out the correct receiver cup? I'm still looking for one.
Oh wow not only me. Please need answer for this

Would just buy one from Amazon, about the same thing. The charge extra for the adapters with and c clamp.

You will need an alignment after you loosen the cam bolt. I don’t care how close you get it to the “mark”
