I know I'm probably alone here, but I like Lindow's English voice from God Eater Resurrection a lot better. His Japanese voice is fine, but sounds a little more annoying each time I hear it.
I can agree with this. I like that his Japanese voice sounds casual, as Lindow is a casual guy, but I feel it should be deeper? Maybe that's just me. The tone doesn't always suit him.
I dunno, Kyle Hebert's Lindow sounds pretty casual. He can open a can of whup-ass when the need arises, but he also sounds pretty approachable, like he's someone you can hang out with.
I definitely agree with that! I just meant that the only thing I liked about Lindow's Japanese voice actor was that it, too, sounds casual. But besides that, I don't care for it. I definitely prefer his English voice, Kyle Hebert nailed it. I'm glad someone else agrees!
Oh yeah! While some of the casting choices in the God Eater dub kind of confuse me (Yuri Lowenthal and Johnny Yong Bosch should have switched roles imo) Kyle Hebert was amazing and I'm kind of surprised we don't see him in more stuff. And while I haven't done a content analysis or anything, I think peoples opinions on English voice acting is becoming warmer. Mostly because I think English voice acting is getting much better.
I also agree, some of the choices were a bit questionable. I was alright with Yuri and Johnny personally, but I can understand why you think they would have worked if their roles were reversed! I believe that would have worked just as well. Kyle Hebert really does have a nice voice, that could - and should - be used broadly. No kidding! I've seen an increase of acceptance in regards to these dubs, it's very nice. I do admittedly lean towards subs at times, because some dubs aren't of the greatest quality, but I've always disliked the argument of sub vs. dub. I don't believe either is better- it all depends on each project itself. And a lot of dubs are getting better and better, as you said. I hope things continue uphill from here.
