The word i couldn't get out was "Amalgam" Gas.
This bulb is super unique, because the outer envelope is vacuum sealed with Amalgam gas to help with the lamp discharge.
These were manufactured between 1985 and 1987 before Phillips took mitsubishi to court for patent related issues.
This particular lamp has a quad tube, a built-in glowstarter, and a magnetic preheat ballast.

Fantastic find! These are indeed extremely rare! I have seen the clear capsule version before in use at a store. I never thought I would see one in person. The fact that the gasses in the discharge tube are free to flow in and out of the outer jacket is what makes these so unique and amazing! Thanks for sharing!
Wow, 1985! I had no idea CFL existed that early.
I've had one of these since I was a kid. My oldest bulb and still getting used. Thought it was early 90s.
I never knew Mitsubishi made light bulbs! I knew them making air conditioners and cars (You probably know the Eclipse and Lancer Evolution before they were sabotaged into SUV's) but they are one of the biggest companies in the world.
That light though. Bet post 10 sent it
Amalgan contains Mercury, so do not throw old lamps in the regular garbage and NEVER inhale the gas, if you ever break the lamp while operating.
Yeah even if the bulb burns out I keep it in my collection ^^
Would that be argon?
What store you bought this Mitsubishi light bulb
I found it at my local Goodwill
