I think you can just pop the oil cap and give the chain a little tug/push in the first gen speed3s. *EDIT* I think you can put an second gen valve cover onto a first gen engine to help prevent this issue.
@@grape00jellly hey I know this was a while ago. I'm having very Similar sound with mine. I did the timing chain everything is tight (popped the valve cover off) lots of tension. Idles perfect no codes. But I do hear a bit of a knock slap sound occasionally around 2000 rpm. The tensioner was brand new when installed. Just wondering if the tensioner could be the problem
@@enchantedape8180 did you do it on your own? or was it a shop? these engines dont have a way to set the timing so its best to get the right tools or have someone who knows to do it.

didnt think of this thank you!
Bro what did u replace when u done u the timing chain did u do every thiing like vvt solenoid and vvt cam sprocket?
Do you have solid motor mounts?
Only for the passenger side motor mount. CS solid motor mount, the rest are stock
That’s rod knock
Definitely sounds like it! But it was the timing tensioner. Since then all the timing components have been changed and everythings running well 🤘
