I bought one for the same reason, the GPS. Fly’s great and I didn’t have to calibrate it. Controls are very soft, not normal. My grandkids are very impressed and get to fly like a pro. We have over 5 hours on it with no problems.
I can see this as an option if one wanted to have the stability of a camera based helicopter. However I see this as building a false sense of security with the Rc helicopter. I have flown Rc heli for over 10 years. The difficult learning curve creates a respect between the pilot and heli- that’s why your always on the sticks with heli. I love the challenge what heli flying has taught me. I would imagine this was going to happen eventually. As a final thought this tech would be great on a scale RC heli . Cheers with much respect and love for your channel !
Justin...FlyWing advises that when calibrating the Heli you can start the calibration process indoors then, when the program advises to start the turning of the Heli in different directions you can unplug from the desk top and take it outdoors. You do the calibration 'dance' outdoors then return to the desk top and plug it back on the USB. If the program says 'calibration successful' your good to go. If the calibration bars still show that the calibration is not complete, just un plug the Heli and return out doors and continue this process until you achieve a successful calibration. FYI This information was obtained from the H1 FACE BOOK GROUP Administrator. I believe he works for FlyWing and does the software for the H1 flight control unit.
G'day, thanks for sharing. Very impressive for what it is capable of. I've been flying the one heli for over the last 8 years with over 1000 flights recorded against the Blade 400. This is finally a great step forward for those wanting to fly remote control helicopters. There's only one problem from my perspective and this is not your fault....It requires no skills, no helicopter flying or developed skill sets. New pilots should definitely not be fooled into believing they can fly a helicopter just because it has GPS/auto pilot. Eventually they will have to learn to fly the model by the seat of their pants - and this is even before they attempt 3D flight. A fantastic step forward for this area of the hobby but could create a false sense of security. As heli pilots we know that a heli requires so much more to fly confidently without crashing. It's not a quad, it's not FPV and it's not a plane. I would use this heli to learn to fly 3D - this is where I see the advantage and the benefit for myself. It is a personal thing though. I already know how to fly. Nice heli and thanks for sharing. I enjoyed the video. I'll give this heli the thumbs up nevertheless. May encourage more heli flyers into the hobby.
I have been flying quads for several years and ran across your review. Looks like a great way to get into helicopters. My problem is I’m a bit intimidated by this heli. I went to the fly wing website to read some of the manuals. After reading, I did not come away with any confidence. For a first time heli buyer it would be nice to see a fw450 guide for real beginners. Stuff like setting up software and showing how to use it. Also instructions for compass calibration etc. I’m sure it is boring for experts, but it would really help to encourage people like me to take the leap into helis.
I just kept spinning the Heli until the progress bar was done. There are videos on it. Not bad. Mine came back and landed perfect. Which was super cool.
Thanks for the reply. Did a real users manual come with the fw450? The website only has a quick start guide. Not enough info for novice heli owner (at least for me).
Justin helped me out a couple years ago on a build through coments he’s legit good people I’m not in to helis but I’ll watch it till the end becuase he deserves it ☺️
If you would have ask me 15 years ago when I got into helis " you think they will ever make one anyone can fly?" I would have laughed so hard in your face and siad absolutely not. But technology has taken this to a level that's made it so if you can afford the crash, when it happens and it will , you can fly. It cost me thousands to learn how to fly helis. Not just in the models but in repair bills.
If you want to learn how to fly an rc heli in a safer way there is absolutely nothing this thing offers you that is better then a good simulator, especially considering how much it cost. You should not be attempting to fly inverted if you don't have any clue of what you are doing, because all you are doing is showing off something you have no clue about, that's a recipe for disaster, this things are not toys. I just realized that to you is about impressing others but must of the rc people I know is about the challenge of learning something that is hard to do, we are not worried about showing off.
This bird is awesome. Always crashed my small helis (eventually) when I inverted...so I never grew brave enough to try it with my 450 Walkera. Excellent video bro.

Helicopters are not drones, they require lots of training to even just hover successfully without drifting all over the place, if you are not willing to putting all the practice needed to achieve this I would not recommend you buy one for your safety and the safety of other around you.
On the program software it has a spot to turn on and you can choose professional mode which keeps the sticks traditional. So left is right, right is left, down is up and up is expensive :)

Do you think it can handle a GoPro mounted between the landing gear?
Yeah but take off would be scary 😆
Great video you just made me part 500 euro😀🇮🇪
Haha yeah but you’re going to LOVE flying it
So cool!
Thanks Kerry. So fun to fly!
Hi! nice fly, and good heli photage, but can you take a photo to see how the Insta360 camera is mounted on to the heli, Thanks in advance BR Lars / Stockholm
Interesting, no torque tube or belt on a 450. Maybe due to the automation?
Yeah. It’s more of a sport flier than a full 3D machine.
May be its good for some reasons like for aggreculture purpose too.
Maybe yes
Hey man, I love this video and helicopter. Absolutely amazing!!! Where can I purchase one in the U.S.?
Hi Justin, Tony from Australia, can the remote be changed to mode 1?
Hmm. Good question. I don’t know my friend.
Yes, you can easily switch to mode 1 on the radio
In inverted mode, are the stick controls also reversed or up is down and vice versa?
Good question : yes sticks stay the same. Unlike in 3D mode everything is reversed!
In the software you can select wether the controls are same direction as in skid down flight, or they are reversed "professional" mode, as in all 3D helis
Just checked mode 1 is available in the settings on the tx
Awesome! Thanks for that info Anthony.
Ordered mine on Sunday from RC crew hobbies in Sydney, arrived today (Tuesday). Why mode 1?
@@marka6487 I'm old school, 63yo and was flying mode one since the late 60's. I'm still waiting for mine, would be good if you could do a review?
Does it requires license to fly in Canada?
mr camps rc , is this heli comes with a built in receiver or you have to buy one to get it to fly.
Come with receiver
