Great gymnast but in my eyes she never really fulfilled her full potential as a gymnast. It almost seems like she was resigned to be a vault specialist but if she put more effort on the other apparautuses she would have been a serious contender in the all-around.
Not really... sometimes they are so good because of the training facilities and resources they have in the USA. If you put an American gymnast in someone like Dipa Karmakar's training facilities they would be no where near as good. I don't think it would be true that any US gymnast would automatically be #1 in another country.
@@thangvuong9196 agree. She seems.... like the typical American teenage girl who is a bit..... entitled😂 hard work beats talent if talent doesn't work.
@@mirieshii1948 Might be hard to focus when your coaches are abusive and you get sexually assaulted monthly at training camps 🤦♀️ You guys are ridiculous. She took 6th in AA qualification behind Mustafina. She was floor and vault National champion, ahead of Simone.
I hate when people say she's only good for vault. She's amazing at vault & floor, and if she put more time in to beam and bars she could be the whole package.
Here's the thing, yea she had some bobbles and a fall, but I couldn't take my eyes off of her. There are some gymnasts when they start, your mind starts to travel. She is not one of them. I really enjoy watching her gymnastics from start to finish. She's always had a quality about her that lends itself to the skills.
That's too bad with the fall. I could see her exasperation with herself and then she just gets this look that says, "I am doing this no matter what." Gotta admire that determination. Despite what some think she can do the aa. She's very flexible and she can tumble. I like watching her. Excellent gymnast.
I know she fell, but the deductions on this routine were kind of extreme.. A 6.9 e score? Really? Underscored. I encourage mckayla to keep trying as an AA gymnast. Because she is a great gymnast, and I think she can do well in the AA.
Im not really sure where the e. score is coming from? But I dont think Ive ever watched her on bars or beam or much on floor. I def think she has the potential to be an AA gymnast. She can really tumble and she has great skills on both bars and beam.. they just look like she needs confidence and polish. I'm really impressed with her comeback after the olympics, especially with an injury. Both her and Kyla look so much better post olympics than really anyone else who has attempted a comeback.
I hate when people look at gymnasts who fall and get a bad score and say: "Wow that was terrible" I just want to say "You couldn't do any better!" and its only one performance. The best gymnasts fall all of the time. (Even on their best events!) Like when Mckayla fell on her second vault, and when Nastia fell on bars! Some people have off days;(
Joey ZiGioia Of course most people could not do it any better, most of us aren't gymnasts. Criticism is natural, especially if you're in the public eye. There is no comparing Nastia and McKayala even if you were just trying to make an example. Nastia is a Goddess in a league with the greats of gymnastics. McKayla is a stellar vaulter but she failed to win the gold in the Olympics at the one event that she is "supposed" to dominate.
Chadwick Mikel To be fair, Nastia ALSO failed to when the gold in the "one event she [was] supposed to dominate" at the Olympic games. Also, let's not pretend Nastia is a real AA gymnast- she is a UB/BB specialist with a monster bar routine to cover her very weak vault and floor that (in this quad's code) wouldn't get near a 6.0 start value. Nastia is fine, but she's hardly a great- as soon as Shawn Johnson came on the scene, she stopped winning everything. Shawn also beat her in every final they were in together in Beijing but the AA, and that was shady.
+Blake Gill It's been 7 years since Nastia beat Shawn and has reaped every reward since then. It's probably time to get over it. She might of failed to win gold in the "one event she was supposed to dominate" but she won the most prestigious title in all of gymnastics and was the most decorated gymnast on the US team (more than Shawn) and medalled in every final she was in. I think she is more than just "fine"
Rebekah Ellen I only brought up Nastia's silver on bars to compare with Maroney's silver on VT because someone else tried to make a point with it. The fact is that you can't say Maroney isn't a true AA gymnast if you'll say Nastia is. Nastia is a GREAT bars/beam specialist who was able to scramble a passable floor, and she had a ridiculously easy vault. McKayla is no different, only where Nastia was weak, McKayla is stronger, and vice versa. And you're right that Nastia was the most decorated at the time the Olympics ended (she has since been taken over by her former teammate Sacramone and also Simone Biles). I just meant to say that she had a longer elite career- as soon as she and Shawn began competing together, she stopped winning except for the AA. Shawn beat her in both of the event finals they competed in, too. Nastia beat her in ONE competition. If that one victory makes her a legend, it doesn't make sense to say that Shawn isn't.
For a girl who has not done beam in competition this year, has never done beam at worlds or olympics and for starting training in jan I though this was ok.
Proof that Brenna should have been allowed to compete. That beam routine was sad. I hope Al Fong raises hell. And to whomever moderates the comments, why do my comments (even the ones that simply say "great routine") get deleted. This one, which I know will get deleted because of my dissing of your Golden Girl and use of the word "hell," has reason to get deleted. Am I on some sort of commenting blacklist? Anyway, McKayla is a specialist, plain and simple. Also, she needs to wear more clothes.

***** I think sometimes that may be true, but I think in this case Mckayla was so supremely talented but not the hardest worker.
Not really... sometimes they are so good because of the training facilities and resources they have in the USA. Blame the guy who was molesting her pretending to be the team doctor

Yes she is good in all, beam scared me
You can't deny how impressive her composure was for the rest of the routine after the fall!
Wow, she's really elegant, I never noticed that!
there are mistakes, but that execution score is brutal....what the heck?
Beautiful!! She looks so elegant. She never (in my eyes)never unveiled her potential.
So proud of her for doing the all around! Not many gymnast can pull off what she just did with such little prep!
Her side switch-leap looked amazing! If she puts some more time into this event, she could be amazing.
she could be really spectacular at this event if she put a little more time into it. her toe point. oh my god.
I missed watching her compete in the all around.
She makes very beautiful somersaults.

Getting 6th place AA with a fall is amazing. She should be really proud.

Excellent performance ☝️👌🖐️👏👍🇺🇸💯🤔😘🤗🎈🎊🎉👠
surprisingly, McKayla is one of the most classically elegant modern US gymnasts!

FANTASTIC WORK! THANK YOU VERY MUCH! BLESSINGS IN EVERY WAY! SHALOM!!
I love how elegant she and Kyla are
go McKayla!!
This was a sloppy routine. She is always so PERFECT! I hope she is alright
Congrats to McKayla
for winning her vault Gold!!!
Good thing she has the vault on her side.

Wow, she got an E score of 6.996 with 1 fall only?? Wow, I wonder how much judges are deducting this quad for falls and major balance checks. :/
She is very capable here. Just no time for the numbers!

Blake Gill ew. *failed to win. My bad

Not Bad.
All my comments keep getting deleted. :-( I've said nothing but positive things. :( anyway, good job Mckayla. Always proud of you.
Nooooooo!!!!! Come on mckayla!!!
she loves chalk
Amazing.
0:50
What is an e. score?
For a girl who has not done beam in competition this year, has never done beam at worlds or olympics and for starting training in jan I though this was ok.
She lost a whole mark for the fall, at least .5 for that big wobble at the start plus other deductions
who's on the floor ?
Shake off the nerves, you'll be fine McKayla!! :)
you can tell she doesn't do a lot of beam, very shaky and unsure.
so so
Her form needs work. Certainly not on vault, but bars and beam for sure.
THAT E SCORE IS JUST PLAIN CRUEL.....

Comment still here though, so it didn't get deleted.
Is it me or is the girl on floor with that slinky body and blonde ponytail giving 2008 Nastia Liukin realness..lolol
Hey I suscribe to watch the videos plz make them available for my country :(
excecution
She is the queen of sticks
She looks really pale here.
I hate the beam
is this serious? ZERO flexibility and horribly bent legs
If she had a better bar set and THIS routine was 2 points higher, she would have beat Kyla PLUS hit the 60 mark.
wow she looks awful
wow shut your mouth
