What a gentleman. Respecting the memory of his fellow wrestlers like that.
Gentlemen??? He's a twisted back stabbing piece of shit.... And that's just the watered down version
Nobody injected, snorted, drank or smoked more than Jake and he's outlived like all of those other guys. It's kind of amazing.
yea he never mixed them with steroids
***** Yeah he didn't fuck with the 'roids too much. But the dollar amount of blow he did would rival the GDP of a small South American country.
He also wasn't taking unprotected chair shots to head as often as the generation after him. Those concussions add up, and then you do a "Benoit", or an "Awesome". You fucking break down and lose it cause you head has received so much trauma practically nonstop, year round.
higler420 I could be wrong (I haven't watched rasslin in more than a decade) but I am pretty sure Benoit and Foley are the only crazy motherfuckers who actually took unprotected chair shots to the head. It couldn't have been a regular thing. WWF/E banned the Tombstone around 2000 AD and 'Taker was using a powerbomb as his finisher. So if they're banning a piledriver move, they're not expecting anybody to get chaired in the head. Unless they insist on it, like Benoit did.
Foley is infamous for it from that royal rumble match with the Rock when he was handcuffed. But outside of the WWF, like in ECW, shit man, everyone was getting nailed with chairs, and WCW adopted the same when they tried to have a hardcore division. Awesome was in ECW for a good bit getting nailed with chairs, and I'm sure he had his fair share in Japan as well.
If you watch matches from the mid to late 90's you might cringe at some of the chairshots to the head. It was so normal then.
Unprotected chairshots to the head are banned now in WWE, but it's to late for any of the guys that wrestled before the new millennium. They really only became safe and PG because they are public now. When Vince was making millions a night with no stockholders to answer to, he didn't seem to give a damn about those chair shots. I mean, they did come up with the friggin TLC matches.
A Randy Savage - Rick Rude feud would’ve seen some of the greatest matches of all time.
The intensity between the two would've made the world implode lol
@@crassyfrake
Loved both of them. But the way randy was with liz I've heard I think the whole locker room would have had to held them back.
They wrestled in Memphis a couple of times,it was a good match
@@crassyfrake Yep. A shoot could break out at any second.
So much test in one ring the front row would’ve grown chest hair
Diamond Dallas Page saved this dude's life good to see him doing better
That's What You Call A Real Friend, Someone Who Helps You Through The Tough Times. Not Easy To Find These Days 💯
Through yoga 😀
@@XxowendanxX it takes more than just yoga to help change a persons life especially someone who is hardcore into drugs and alcohol
@@theking-fj9nr of course. It's been a while since I read the magazine article but the point was that having a passion for something makes it easier to kick bad habits like drugs and alcohol. Most of the alcoholics and druggies I know don't have anything they are passionate about. If you develop a passion for fitness, eventually you arrive at a point where you can't pursue your passion and do as well at it if you are on drugs and or alcohol. A great passion in your life will eventually make you choose between it and the bad habit or habits. If your passion is deep enough you will choose it over the drugs, alcohol or whatever else.

LSweet2007 Get your facts right!!! he had that mustache at 4 years old!! too much fake news-- stick to the real facts°°
Lol
I WANT TO KISS HIS MUSTACHE!!!
I think Rude was the greatest heel of his era and one of the most underrated wrestlers ever. What a legend.
Where was he time-wise with Mr. Wonderful. I assume they overlapped but I can't remember them working together.
He feuded with Mr. Wonderful right before he started the feud with Jake. This was all the very start of his WWF career when The Brain managed him. It was great to see Mr. Wonderful stare down Rick, as Rick stared down Paul before a match. Both in the ring at the same time as they were both in their own robes that had their names on the back of them. Sometimes the robes looked very similar.
Rick Rude and Tully Blanchard had a lot similarities...They were both great heels.
Rick Rude and Honky Tonk Man and Ted Dibiase
Rick Rude was amazing! Such an awesome person. He was a real big family man and never took off his wedding ring when wrestling, he just put tape over it and had it on the whole time. Wish he was here today because it would be amazing to see him here. Rest In Peace to The Ravishing One.
Roddy Piper was the same..He even kept his wedding ring on when he filmed the movie"They Live"
except when he was making out with the rats at ringside.
Family man .. I heard he fucked bitches all over the world 🌎
Jake the Snake Roberts and Ravishing Rick Rude was the best WWF feud ever!! Those were the days indeed !!
Rob Osborne: That was indeed a great feud with Jake and Rude, but I'll go you one better and say that Jake vs Macho Man Savage in late 1991 was even better. Jake was a heel and has Savage tied up in the ropes and lets his king cobra legit bite him on the arm. All while Savage's wife Miss Elizabeth is forced to watch. That feud was white hot. Then when they have their PPV match, Savage wins, but Jake DDTs him 3 times after the match and Elizabeth comes down to the ring to throw her body on her helpless husband and plead for Jake to stop.
Then Jake grabs her up by hair and slaps her across the face. The crowd was extremely disturbed. Jake said that they had to stop the angle not long after because Liz's family was upset that it was getting too real.
Go back and watch Jake vs Savage at TUESDAY IN TEXAS in November 1991. One of the best heel performances in WWF history that night by Jake. He had that crowd eating out of the palm of his hand and FRIGHTENED. I'm not surprised they didn't let the angle continue, but it would've been a HELLUVA final match between the two at the next Wrestlemania.
Rob Osborne hogan and piperrt
Jake owned Rude in the feud!!!
The story of Jake turning his life around always warms my heart man! Unbelievable talented and smart in the ring and just an all around prince of a guy!
He’s a fukn legend bro
Jake..body slam..Jake DDT!!(Wrestle Fest commentary voice)
I find the wrestling talk more interesting than the actual wrestling.
Brian Dorn 100% I don’t even like wrestling!
By far!
You see that they are people like us
Same, but I think sometimes maybe if there didn't do all these interviews ppl would still like the actual show...i use to never miss a raw but now I can't watch more than 10 mins
It's nostalgia from my youth
“You can say it’s suicide, you can say it’s an accident, you can say this, but I’ll say this: they’re dead”. Jake understands the truth and the tragedy of this business
"I don't even wanna go there man.....I'll leave that alone". You pretty much told us everything we need to know right there, Jake. Thanks for the info!
What exactly does jake know that he did not want to say in that interview?
Hey it you
Was he talking about Brutus that he didn't want to touch that subject?
@@dxrocks06 yes. Rumors were that Brutus Beefcake was gay
@@Itbmurr1 I think it was more than Jake doesn’t think much of Beefcake as an overall star. The question was what did you think of him as a personality, it had nothing to do with being gay.
Rick Rude Was One Of The Best Technical Wrestlers The WWF/WWE Had Seen. Sadly Missed.
DDP is the man god bless his soul.
You are correct Mr. President, Dr. Drew ain't got shit on DDP! !
Yep, that aspect of his wrestling is often overlooked, eclipsed by his gyrating, taunts, and masterful heel performance.
Doink the Clown was also one hell of a technical wrestler, also often overlooked because of his whole shtick.
For sure. Him and Bret Heart best technical ever, Jake the best psychological promo hitter and Curt Henning and Shawn Michaels the greatest athletes in Wrestling ever, Randy Savage the best all round entertainer ever, Hogan, Steve Austin and the Rock the greatest draws/ ass on the sets selling Wrestling - Wrestlers ever.
Why Do You Capitalize Every Word?
Wow, Jake the Snake looks better than he has in decades. Older, but healthier.
yo it's his it's his it's his DDP YOGA!
definitely
If it wasn't for DDP Jake and Scoot Hall would have both been dead by now!
bukowskispen Hall was a drunk
DDP did a great thing for them. Truly inspiring.
Yep, DDP deserves a sainthood for that alone.
That is true

When the Road Warriors & Demolition were all asked who was the toughest out of the guys that grew up in Minnesota, ALL of them said Rick Rude. People would pick fights with Rick thinking he was a pretty boy. Some wrestlers were legitimately scared of him.
Yeah that’s pretty crazy to think about. They all bounced at a bar called Gramma B’s in Minneapolis. Hawk, Animal, both members of Demolition, Rick Rude and I guess a few other guys. There’s a short interview with Smash (from Demolition) talking about this and he’s the one who said that out of all of them Rick was easily the toughest. He said He wasn’t a fighter himself. Animal wasn’t a fighter, but Rick wasn’t afraid of anything and if somebody crossed him he’d do whatever it took to win.
Bill Eadie, Ax from Demolition, isn’t from Minnesota. He’s from Ohio and was already well into the wrestling business as The Masked Superstar when all of the Minnesota guys were bouncing at that bar. John Nord (Nord The Barbarian) was probably the next big name to bounce there (if he did at all). Tom Zenk and Scott “Nikita Koloff” Simpson were also from the same generation as all of them.
Rick Rude had a reputation for being extremely tough. So I heard.
+draconian45 - He had a reputation for being able to knock guys out with just an open-hand slap.
draconian45 and faithful to his wife
Mans man? He used to make his wife stand at the bar by herself while he stood in the corner. When someone would hit on here, he'd go beat the shit out of them. That's a fucking asshole of the highest proportions. The story is told on You tube by Paul Bearer.
he wasnt fairhful to his wife

I used to love how Jake would smile one moment then look real serious the next, on his promos
The epitome of sinister.
Nice to see he is wearing his well earned/deserved hof ring. Good on ya Jake
Yep, richly deserved.
My all time favorite in the business.

Rick Rude, along with Haku/Meng had to be the two toughest SOBs to ever step into a wrestling ring. Although Adrian Adonis had the reputation of being a legit tough guy as well, oh and I cannot forget Ron Simmons.
That's a pretty good list. But you are missing one very obvious name. Harley Race. Ask someone that's been around him. They will talk your ear off about how tough Harley was not only in terms of bar room brawls but also in terms of dealing with difficulties in life. Just my 2 cents. No offense buddy..
Adrian Adonis got his ass kicked by Dan Spivey, so I'm not sure he should be on your list.
Haku, Rick Rude, Harley Race and The Barbarian (in that order) are the four toughest dudes.
Paul Orndorff was a tough dude too
@@MrGunwitch I reckon Rick could have taken Haku in a fight but you never know.
Every interview with Jake- he seems level headed, well thought out. He tells his stories and leaves out any animosity and bs
Something behind the eyes of Jake the Snake I can’t help but noticed before he even opens his mouth; he just looks kind of haunted, like he’s really seen a lot.
Listen to his life story, and all that you suspect will be confirmed and then some.
Let's just say that he had a horrific childhood to match his decades of drug and alcohol abuse.
Pull up some of the interview segments he did with Joe Rogan with him detailing it.
It's a miracle that the man is even alive, much less lucid.
Trauma survivor
Those '80s wrestlers and "managers" were the best, Jake, Ravishing, Adrian, Rowdy Roddy.......
Rick Rude was one of the best heels in wrestling. R.I.P. Rick Rude.
Yup. He was amazing.
Im related to jake hes a good guy member when i was a kid me and my gpa always went and watched him wrestle good hearted person
R.I.P Rick Jake is a Real legend gone through soo much in his life
And now it’s come full circle and Jake is back with Sheryl again after being clean for so long..
Ddp is a god send.
On 41 so many good memories watching wrestling with my two brothers I hate to see people get old and pass away😢
Most wrestlers of that era talk about Rude as one of the toughest guys next to Haku.
Ron Simmons is feared by the Steiners. One of the legit badasses in wrestling
Top stuff Hannibal, top YT fella for wrestling interviews!
Jake "The Snake" was a master of ring psychology!
I love his honesty, though. 👍👍👍👍👍
Fun fact... He was a pothead.
And was not faithful to his wife . He was discreet about it.
Rude was heavy handed, original tough guy
Randy Savage took it way too far, but he may have had a point on being protective of Elizabeth.
He definitely did, because without him... she delved back into drugs with Lex Luger and ended up overdosing and dying. Savage was not a perfect person, but he was humble and self-aware - and knew the danger she was getting into... and was furious at Hulk Hogan for not helping him more with her. But it's almost impossible to save a person from herself. The documentary on Savage is A+ and worth watching, if you haven't seen it. My favorite all-time wrestler. What a force of nature he was, on all fronts.
@@rdj1974 I have seen it for sure. It's a great doc.
I believe that Rude settled their feud by pinning the Snake cleanly. Yet, Rude nearly pinned himself in the process. It could've gone either way. Both had their backs to the mat, too. Each one of them was straining to keep up his shoulders, but Rude prevailed.
Why does Hannibal TV have that scary intro music?
I like it.
Because the truth of wrestling is scary.
it's not scary it's just fucking annoying . gives me a headache
It is, and its great
Get it? Hannibal Lecter.
I was actually in court with Jake the Snake in Daytona Beach, Florida. I walked into courtroom and I saw all these cameras and news people and I was wondering what was going on and then all the sudden him and his wife walked in, he was like 10 ft away from me must have been late 1988 early 1989
Always been one of my favorite characters and through you we got the classic Austin 3:16 speech. Love you man love you
even Jake thinks beefcake is a suckass, just didn't want to say it for some reason
+themachine 82 The reason Jake didn't talk shite about fruitcake was because of karma. Jake has been thru enough and doesn't want for it to come back to him.
oldschoolfan420 lol, fruitcake. Now why haven't I been using that one!
Brutus "The Strawberry" Shortcake
Jake has calmed down a lot. Jimmy Hart and others have said Brutus was hated because he was Hulks lackey. Hulk loved having yes people around him. Beefcake actually dated Rudes sister for a bit. Rude knocked him out physically in the locker room twice because he thought beefcake tried to hurt him in the ring. Many wrestlers have mentioned it in interviews including Ric Flair.
Beefcake wasn't just his yes man. They broke into the business together and travelled the territories together for their first 5-6 years. Every wrestler has a buddy like that.
Loved Jake the Snake as a child, bearing the same name as him and watching him entertain, love him even more so today after having been able to listen to the real man speak...what a man, last of dying breed, and I don't mean wrestlers I mean a dying breed of people in general..
LMFAO!!! He doesn't even want to go there if it involves beefcake.
Dibiase,Jake,Rude,Perfect 4 greatest heels to never hold the gold during the Hogan era. Scott Hall would be my last but wasnt wwf then
Good to see Jake sober. He s a good man.
One of the greats
The ultimate disrespect was rick rude putting jake robert's wife image in his tights during their match.
For those who don't know...
Dizzy = Brutus Beefcake.
Beefcake wrestled as "Dizzy" Hogan in his early years as Terry Bollea's man servant.
Thanks
StuUngar lmao
Lol he didn’t wanna go there and left it alone
"Let God sort that out, man."

Jake was always a favorite wrestler when I was a teenager, God bless you Jake !
im so glad they included both these guys in WWE 2K games
These shoot interviews are amazing, the intro music is amazing too...its so serious and lets the viewer know that some serious truthful shit is going to be said! Keep up the good work man I really enjoy watching your videos Hannibal!!!
I'm sure I read or heard somewhere that Rick Rude was one of the legit tough guys
He was indeed. Guys in the the locker room didn't fu*k with Rick cause they knew he was a roughneck. I heard he used to be a badass bouncer.
Jake got the right attitude. Let God sort it out
Greatest wrestler to never hold a belt. Jake Roberts
Jake was one of the best wrestlers of all time
Man Hannibal you are Awesome...
Rick Rude was a magician in the ring. He could make anyone make like a superstar...
Crazy how rude died and snakes is still around rude was amazing body,in ring, charisma he was the total package wish he was still around
+Shawn Afshar I'd imagine Jake wasn't doing steroids, however those guys would've been on top of whatever else they were doing.
Jake Shattuck Lugar was called “The Total Package” but Rude actually was the total package. Lugar looked good but Rude looked Great,Rude could cut a promo, get heat and actually wrestle...Lugar couldnt do any of those. Rude had it all,a charisma Lex just didnt have.
Who is “Dizzy”? Jake said “he knocked out dizzy a couple times“, then Hannibal said “you mentioned dizzy hogan“, Anybody know what/who he is talking about?
@evergray5063 Dizzy Hogan is Ed Leslie AKA Brutus Beefcake.Ed started out as Dizzy Hogan,Hulk's kayfabe brother, before becoming Brutus Beefcake in WWF.
The man looks good and lucid. :)
Rude was the real article man
I've heard from all sorts of sources that Rick Rude was a straight shooter outside of the ring, as well as a faithful husband. Basically the opposite of his in ring persona. He never gave anyone shit unless they deserved it. I'm sure he wouldn't have a problem at all with someone wanting a picture.
Don Frye's moustache would beat up Rick Rude's...and Don Frye would beat up Rick Rude
No one ever seems to have a good word to say about Mr Cutting & Strutting
Not to mention Brutus puts himself over constantly and bad mouths every name that comes up. He's like Bret Hart without the success.
+strangewayshere I met him at a autograph booth once. Total waste of 6 minutes He just bitched about why he hasn't been considered for the hall of fame and bragging about his dick ring he just got to some teenage fans.
Rude. Fuckin epic guy. Respect
I can listen to the old school guys talk all day about the WWF golden era.
Those tights Rude wore with his wife's image on them were just straight up gangsta before gangsta was in style.
when Jake mentions all the guys we lost too early, makes me think of all the rock musicians who died young-Moon, Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison. and Jake is like Keith Richards, somehow outlasting them all.
Adam Grammt4zas more like Alice Cooper who has been sober since 1983, Keith still does drugs.
Alice also was in Jake's corner at wrestlemania 3!
exactly, Keith is still doing it and still surviving!
Adam Grammt4zas maybe moderation works.......for some, but not addicts.
I'm so happy he's still with us.
Love some Jake. One of the greats.
Jake looks like an old west lawman.
And bret hart looks like a native elder in white man's clothes
Jake is a real Ozzy Osbourne story: Hendrix is dead, Janis is dead, Cobain, Prince, and Bowie are dead. Rick Rude, Bossman, Hennig, Hawk, and Savage are all dead... but somehow Ozzy and Roberts are still alive!
Dizzy? Does he mean Ed Leslie (Brutus the Barber)?
Yeah, Beefcake used to wrestle as Dizzy Hogan, Hulk's brother. That was before their WWF days.
How is Jake currently? Watched the Netflix documentary and loved it!
Hope he's back on track
Which documentary, "The Resurrection of Jake the Snake?"
He's doing better than ever, thanks to Saint Diamond Dallas Page.
It's great to see how engaging and funny he can be in interviews now that he's clean.
I fervently want him to stay clean permanently.
My favorite wrestler of all.
'"the drugs just ruined snake's career-(but)! i understand when ur an athlete as long as ur one an getting paid(your body pays the price)!!! no judgment here ""pain is 24-7 !!!!
I love how real Jake is in interviews.
Always enjoyed hearing their stories
lol@Rude telling Jake that his wife hits harder than Jake does
i always thought rick rood (actual spelling) looked like jake the snake with a better muscle tone.
All these interviews and shoots with these old wrestlers really proves the adage that "It ain't the years, it's the miles." the ones that didn't die early are just fucking wrecked from what they have put their bodies through over the years.
Would be great series pro wrestler takes the wife on road.
he looks like someone from tombstone
dizzy is brutis beefcake
I keep hearing mentions that Hogan and Rude never wrestled but I watched a match of theirs on YT recently?
Yeah it's in the recommended videos for this video
Jake, I didn't know it could be so succinctly summed up why it's tough with spouses on the road, other than to just say "It's complicated."
She sees other guys acting inappropriately with groupies, and she's friends with their wives, but the other guys expect Jake to tell her to stay out of it, so he does, and that changes the way she looks at him. Bam. There it is.
Well, the end certainly was very QUESTIONABLE.
Rick Rude and Hogan did wrestle.. it was the famous arm wrestling match in the beginning of the bout.
It is snowing in the background.
He was in Ontario, I think?
I always liked him, and I still do, he's a cool dude.
jake could have been one of those classic looking american southern white man actors from 1800s-2000. he could easily played role of old cowboy/ farmer/ red neck/gold miner just on his looks and voice alone.
Jake seems a stand up kind of guy
I am amazed that Honky Tonk man is still alive with the way he talks about people and all the insidious B.S he makes up or embellishes.
Rick Rude was one of those very few heels who never needed a 'STABLE' to draw heat. He alone was enough. Unlike Roman.....
I guess he doesn't think much of Brutus Beefcake.
Jake Roberts on Ravashing Rick Rude, "I don't want to go there." Great interview.
he was talking about beefcake not Rude
Cheryl Roberts (Jake's wife at the time of his feud with the Ravishing one) was absolutely beautiful.
They're back together again now🙂 Cheryl posted on Facebook just days ago, confirming that they've been back together for at least a couple years and that they've reconciled after being separated for so long.
