When Rick started wrestling in Nashville back in the 80’s he was dating a friend of mines mom. We were probably in 7th or 8th grade. My friend wasn’t a wrestling fan so he really didn’t know who Ric rude was. I walked into the apartment and his mom introduced me to Rick. I almost fell on the floor I couldn’t believe it was him. He was a really nice guy to us. I think they were together for a few months. He was always nice to us and would answer any questions and joke around

I remember seeing Rick Rude in the airport in Tampa Florida in 1987. I was a young US Marine heading to Jacksonville, NC for infantry training. Three buddies of mine were at the airport with me and in their uniforms. They kept turning around and staring at Rick and pointing at him. He walked over to them and told them to "get some bearing in their bodies, and quit eye-fucking him". Nobody said a word to him. You could tell he was no one to mess with!

That was a biiiig dude! I'd never disturb a star with family anyway. It was an honor to have seen him in person. Had crazy blue eyes though! That doesn't work - you don't drop the belt to your strongest heel if you know that it's just in transition. Same with faces - if you're going to transfer the belt from one face to another (and it's not a business issue like Hogan leaving) then you drop the belt to someone weak (sheik) so that it can make its way to another face without damaging the guy who dropped it.

Yeah, Minnesota produced Gene and Ole Anderson, Bob Backlund, Jim Brunzell, Paul Ellering, Mean Mike Enos and Ric Flair - sorry North Carolina but it’s true. In addition Minnesota gave us NCAA champ and Olympic alternate Verne Gagne, his son Greg, Larry (the Axe or Pretty-boy) Hennig, his “Perfect” son Curt, Molly Holly and the jobber who Harley Race called “best overall talent in wrestling” Kenny Jay.
We must then include Nikita Koloff, Stan “Krusher” Kowalski, Lacey, Lenny Lane, Blackjack Lanza (the original), Brock Lesnar by way of South Dakota, Bronco Nagurski by way of Ontario, John Nord, Scott Norton and the Pan American gold medalist and the 1976/1980 Olympian Brad Rheingans.
We round out the Minnesota list with Road Warriors Hawk and Animal, Rick Rude (obviously), Smash, its former Governor Jesse “the Body “Ventura, Sean “X-Pac” Waltman, Janet Wolfe, Tom Zenk and unfortunately Buck Zumhofe.
I should note that there were more to mention from the Wikipedia page I used. But I included just the ones I had heard of. With the exception of Lacey and Janet Wolfe, otherwise Molly Holly would be the lone female. And darn it I really wanted to claim Joe Stetcher. He was one of the greatest shooters in Pro Wrestling history, but he only retired to Minnesota where his brother Tony (also a Wrestler) ran a territory. They were originally from Nebraska.
Furthermore if I included Wrestlers trained in Minnesota by Verne Gagne and Eddie Sharkey, it would include Ricky Steamboat, Madussa, The Iron Sheik and…okay I’ve done enough, Google it!

Rick Rude was one of.my favorite wrestlers. Stand-up honorable guy who looked incredible as far as wrestling skills, and physique. One of the best heels ever in WWf. Legit badass who probably could have done well in MM A or UFC. RIP Rick Rude Not to mention he was best friends with Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig another one of my favorite wrestlers. Both of them deserved better careers in WWF in WCW.

Ric Rude was a REAL tough guy/man. All those matches with the Warrior where the Warrior went over many times but in reality Rude could have beat the snot out of the Warrior. One of my favorite Ric Rude matches was at the very first Royal Rumble. He opened the telecast with a bout with Ricky Steamboat. The movement in the match was phenomenal and you had Jesse the Body on the commentary and right in the middle of all the up tempo action Rude stops to pose and flex. Hilarious spots. Even in the ring announcement when he was introduced. Howard Finkel, god rest his soul he just passed, when he introduced Rude, Rude would step to the middle and shove Finkel to the side and do his shake. Hilarious stuff. Ravishing Ric Rude was a perfect name and gimmick.

I doubt it since warrior was much bigger than him and he might have been ripped but it was a lean type of ripped. His arms were like twigs next to warriors so he may have been tough with his own size and smaller but I doubt he said much to the bigger stronger guys. But warrior was meant to have been a bit of a pussy for his size though so he may have cowarded out but the likes of barbarian & warlord or others with warriors type of physique he's not going to try and bully like he did others.
