The Warning are not content to sit still. They have the ability to find different sounds that appeal to new audiences, but they still sound like The Warning. Some songs I embrace immediately, while others I might eventually love even more after several listens. Thanks for exposing The Warning to more listeners!
Satisfied is my favourite song on this album. Error woke me up from a 20 year music coma and I feel like people 40 and over will really love Error. I believe KMF is the album that will scoop in the 20 year olds. It's fresh and modern and I see a lot of younger reactors absolutely loving the production of it. It makes sense for The Warning to write songs to appeal to a younger crowd. This is how Rock gets to be mainstream again.
The Warning write songs that cross all age groups. Just as they transcend Race and sex. Hardly anyone any age can love and enjoy this incredible band! ALL ARE WELCOME! Btw… I’m 72. 🤘
A listener who didn't like "Error" loved the remix of "Choke' with Grandson and now loves "Keep Me Fed" For all the old time The Warning fans. This is how you reach fans outside of TWA and bring them into TWA. The Warning knows what they are doing.
Yep but there is tiny bit of crazy in the fan base, and the hostility in some other comments to a glowing review is unhealthy. I am someone who recently got rabbit holed by the band and find elements of the fan base very off-putting. Eg I think Pau has charisma for miles sings and composes brilliantly but live at least her drumming was OK, technically rock solid. I am confident that view would get me evissorated by the fans. Well before I could add that she has changed something up in the last year or two, maybe just road dog grinde, and she is showing some real chops now. I ended up watching drum cam from Boston all the way through and the drumming is night and day better, its great, even reversed. Mileage can vary with bands but being hostile to a good review because its the wrong sort of good is wierd. Your positive inclusive take is much healthier.
Escapism is my fav. I have no idea why but I just can’t get it out of my head all day long. Sharks, Apologize, Automatic Sun, Six Feet Deep, S!ck, Hell You Call a Dream… so many really good songs in an album is really appreciated. They didn’t go for the now standard 2-3 singles and fills. They exceeded expectations and I’m here for it.
Brother! I've been wrestling with myself about which is my favorite from Keep Me Fed...and I think it's Escapism. I think Sharks is my number 2...but the more I listen to everything that might change. I've listened to this album over many times. Maybe 30 times or more. Any way you have good taste!!! 😎👊🏻. Cheers from Denver Colorado 🌄 ⚡⚡The Warning ROCKS!!!⚡⚡
So far, I honestly can't decide if I like Keep Me Fed better than ERROR or not. All I know is I haven't stopped listening to KMF since it came out (without skipping anything; Satisfied grows on you, I promise) and I don't see myself getting tired of it in the foreseeable future. I think the main difference between ERROR and KMF lies in the radically different styles of production (which have stirred some controversy among the fans.) The anthemic hooks, the hard rock riffs combined with the well crafted, almost pop-like catchiness... it's all there in both albums, but the production choices set them apart, of course. To go with the feeding theme, ERROR is almost frugal in its approach to instrumentation and vocals; it certainly feels more "organic" overall, while KMF is just the opposite: sonically, it's like a huge banquet (the album cover says as much.) It's abundant, excessive, something to gorge yourself on. And nevertheless I don't think it will make me feel sick anytime soon. Can't help it, I'm a greedy little fucker.
Error is the culmination of the older sound which is far more early 90”s sounding and Iis spectacular with The Warnings flare! I love them! This album is far more early 2000’s vibe with Muse influences. Makes since but they always sound like The Warning and no one else.
As expected, listening to KMF in my car greatly improves the sound. My sound system is old, taking the polished production down several notches 😆 Cranking the bass up, makes it all quite crunchy and grungy. Very enjoyable.
Please check out "Ugh" from their second album, they were kids and there is way less production yet it has a lot of the dynamics you might enjoy from Apologize and the coolest ending, there is a live version in black and white that is the perfect version of the song.
I actually think Queen of the Murder Scene and Error were both excellent albums. However, this album is more interesting to me than Error sonically and the POV in Pau's lyrics is always interesting. I agree that Burnout is the weakest song. My favorites are Automatic Sun, Consume, Apologize and Hell You Call a Dream
Really? Error wasn't a great album until the Choke remix? Error was pure rock and badass my man. But, to each their own, it's all good. This new album is great too, in very different sonic presentation and many songs from it are being played live and sound much harder rock.
Yes Error was a really great album and KMF is a great groovy all around hard rock album ⚡️QOTMS is probably my favorite era of TW but it’s something special in each album
I've gone back to that album since KMF came out and it doesn't hit nearly as hard, if I were to list songs from both albums from favorite to least favorite I'm taking a majority of KMF before anything on Error still (excluding the choke remix with grandson).
@@hivemindradio_ That is maybe you got to listen to Teatro Metropolitan Concert (2022). When you hear the songs live, then you can say "Ok, this doesn't resonate with me". Fpr the old fans was the contrary to you with this album, they don't lke it until they could hear the songs live
Interesting. I couldn’t stand what they did with the remix. Still can’t listen to it. But hey, like I said to each their own. Glad to hear that you are enjoying the new album.🤘
If "Keep Me Fed" draws in a younger crowd to The Warning then great, I'm all for it! The ladies of The Warning know what they are doing and figured out how to get the attention of younger audience to listen to rock again. They are always improving and trying new things as well as pushing themselves to be better songwriters and musicians. "Keep Me Fed" is an outstanding album that Dany, Pau, Ale are rightfully proud of and I could not be happier for them, and for myself for getting this great album to listen to over and over. I just find it sad that it had to take the addition of so many instrumental and vocal effects to get the attention of young listeners that have been listening to overproduced, synthesized, auto-tuned, cookie-cutter music for so long that they cannot appreciate the greatness in the simplicity of just instruments and vocals in their original form. My hope is that Jake and others will get to see them perform in person, so they can hear these songs in a more raw and powerful form, played live as intended! Jake just just showed us what "Tell me me you are young and not a rock fan without tell me you are young and not a rock fan" with the comment that the Grandson remix of "Choke" was the highlight of "Error". SMH. Please, don't insult The Warning and the Error album, which is a straight 10 out of 10 rock album across the board, by saying that the Grandson remix made it better. No, it made it Hip-Hop, definitely not better. That said, I am glad that you gave this album a chance and you are promoting it such a positive way! The Warning are amazing, talented and hard-working young ladies that are finally getting the recognition they deserve! Kudos for putting them on your podcast!!
I appreciate this review. For what it’s worth, I think each of the albums has been great in its own, very different way. Their debut, XXI Century Blood, was an impressive debut, and in some ways closest to the genre I had always been immersed in most, indie rock and indie pop. Queen of the Murder Scene was impressive on a couple of levels: the ambition to produce a concept album (as young teens at that!), but to make it a coherent, old school-sounding , filler-free song cycle. And I thought Error was great, by and large. But KMF is my favorite now, mostly for the same reasons you liked it.
I really like the fact that this album has drawn in a listener who wasn't that into Error. Enjoyed the review and he really captured what the sisters were trying to accomplish given their simple delivery of the lyrics with quite intricate meaning behind them. They have stated that this was their intention on this album in an interview I recently heard. I generally like everything The Warning had produced in their discography so far, but I really think KMF will open up their listening base by appealing to a much wider swath of listeners. This reviewer is an example of precisely that. Appreciate the review. Long live The Warning!
Great review, analysis and opinion of the most recent album by the 3 young Mexican sisters. As you get to know The Warning more you discover that they have several styles of rock but they are invariably pure rock!! And I continue to reaffirm my humble but very own opinion that with its structure, its cuts, transitions, rhythm changes, modulations, choruses, pre-choruses, drum attacks, its endings… All of this is masterful. The great beauty of their art is in its simplicity but all of this always seems to be at the right time and in the right way, bordering on perfection and predominating sophistication. There could always be other options, but the ones they chose seem to be the exact ones to create a masterpiece of art. Also impregnating everything with a natural touch of inevitable sensuality that only adds improvement and with the feeling, sensitivity and passion of their blood, race and culture. Each of its pieces can be very different, but always with all the TW flavor. It’s very clear that these sisters have no limits. They have that gift that only belongs to the geniuses that appear among us every certain period of time. This is the youngest veteran band in the rock world. Without forgetting that there are only three of them, yes, but three true geniuses in their field. Melodically they are the best, without a doubt. And this happens song after song… INCREDIBLE!! Having established the above, in addition The album "Error" is the best in terms of lyrics and messages. But the concept album "Queen Of The Murder Scene" is the most complete and rounded in terms of art and the best album in my opinion. And now... with the album "KMF", have risen to the next level, where the greats are, but they have arrived with the sword drawn and the knife between their teeth, very willing to take it by storm and take no prisoners... 7:48 Well said. Simple lyrics aren’t always a bad thing. Less is more in this case. Although I very much appreciate their complex lyrics in past albums.
I completely disagree with you about Error but it’s ok… Keep Me Fed is a transition in their music. It rocks like a Muse or Artic Monkeys album but with more emotion… Dany is the heart, Pau the fire and Ale is the foundation.
Feel the same way about this album. Definitely different than Error but in the best way possible. Thanks for helping us spread the word about this great band.
The problem with some is that if the new album sounds like the previous one they complain its the same all over again, if the new one sounds different they say its going in the wrong direction. One may like a song more than another which is to be expected but there is no bad song by TW
I too completely disagree with your take on the Error album but that’s OK… very glad you like KMF. There’s so much diversity with these ladies’ sound that there’s something for everyone.
OK first the positives (and yes there are more positives than negatives): 1. Truth in advertising: even though the screen shows four dudes, this truly is a one-man rant. 2. It's an amusing commentary on how music is so subjective. To me, "grandson" (whomever that is) doing the over-dub/sample take was complete garbage. And _Satisfied_ is my favorite tune off their new album, precisely *because* it comes together so well in a classic rock sense ( I have a slightly different reaction to _Burnout_ , because that song so accurately describes a roommate I had it's scary, considering he lived with me before any of them were even born). I listen to very little else, other than occasional forays into what is considered "pop/alternative" over the past 20 - 30 years. I do admire that the ladies are willing to explore and poke their noses into slightly different sounds... but no matter what they do, it still sounds like _them_ , which is kind of their own magic.
You and I have very different musical preferences. IMO Error kicks the crap out of Keep Me Fed, Granson is total crap and the collab on Choke is terrible. Not saying that I don't like Keep Me Fed, just saying that, for me, everything that preceeds Keep Me Fed, is better than Keep Me Fed. If we all liked the same things there would be a lot fewer bands enjoying any kind of success. So, it's good that we don't all like the same styles, etc.
Wow. Everything you said is ass. I love both albums, for different reasons. I also love the grandson collab. And learn to spell artists' names if you're going to dog them. But all good. 🤘
Man, you're skimming over and missing a lot of great stuff!! Example, The Warning's "Queen Of The Murder Scene" is a novel in album form, telling one hell of a psycho story from the first track to the last. It could be a rock movie or broadway play. Their "Error" album has some compelling lyrics about how screwed up society is getting with technology addiction. You are cheating yourself if you don't listen a bit deeper than the beat and riffs.
The Warning are not content to sit still. They have the ability to find different sounds that appeal to new audiences, but they still sound like The Warning.
@BrentTharp oh, well excuse me for a typo and for having an opinion.
@@racetime1960 I'll excuse you for not correcting the typo. It proves that you are unserious.
@@BrentTharp if you say so
Man, you're skimming over and missing a lot of great stuff!!
