I do not think that is fair. If you are some simple reactor that just plays music and say you like it, sure. But you do so much more to add value and also support the artists. Silly to demonetise you. Shows bad judgement.

@@rolandkarlsson7072thank you. I have given up trying to dispute copyright claims (even though I’ve been led to believe that, legally, what I often do falls under educational and fair use). Every claim I’ve disputed on these grounds has always been rejected, with no reason given. And the disputed claims are judged by the people that claim them in the first place, so I fail to see how that’s an impartial ruling. I have been told that there are other channels that do similar content to mine who have managed to monetise their videos via disputing these claims. Thus far it continues to elude me. Therefore I must rely on patrons and donations for my time and effort instead. Thank you for your comment.

The Warning literally has a whole thread devoted to UA-cam reactions on their own patreon. So they are more sympathetic than most. They are a gen Z band after all, so they understand the importance of social media. But maybe their record company are the ones claiming.

That's bizarre as so many people have been able to share this concert in full or in part. They had just signed a record deal (IIRC) with Lava before this but they've always been super generous with allowing fans to use their content in the past and I felt certain this was likewise protected 'from being protected'. Anyways, great great reaction and analysis.

What drew me to The Warning was their throwback old school rock sound. Mixed with elements of punk, pop, grunge, even some metal, they create a sound that is familiar but unique. I actually left the house to go see them live, the first show I had been to in 40 years!

The Warning Army isn't ominous lol, you've already experienced the Nightwish Army, same concept. Welcome in. Daniela (Dany) on Guitar is 24 today, Paulina (Pau pronounced Pow) is now 22, and Alejandra (Ale) is 19. Dany sings lead on most songs, Pau sings lead on some. Ale will sing lead if needed, when Dany is sick or needs a break, but no designated lead vocal songs, she prefers the backing vocals. Love this song as an intro because you get all 3 with lead parts (the 2 3 Go is Ale's line). They have opened for Foo Fighters, Def Leppard, Guns'N'Roses, Halestorm, 3 Days Grace and one of their favorite bands, Muse. Lzzy Hale was so impressed when she first heard them, that she insisted on getting The Warning on tour with them. This Teatro concert was in August, after having toured all summer with Halestorm and The Pretty Reckless.
The PRS( custom 24-08) is her baby, but has been gifted guitars, an Explorer from Lzzy Hale, and a Manson from Muse's Matt Bellamy. If you're interested in their equipment, all 3 sisters have done gear masters episodes, posted on 'digital tour bus'. They do use backing tracks, and run the show on the laptop with Ableton. Those are also mentioned in Pau's episode. Dany and Ale talk a little about tunings as well.
Their straight cover of Metallica's Enter Sandman, at ages 14 12 and 9, was posted for family and friends, and went viral. Metallica saw it, Kirk said that the drummer kicks maximum a$$. September 2023 they gave up 1 of 2 dates opening for G'N'R, to play at the mtv music awards. Check out those videos, "Evolve" and "More". And again, hope you had a Happy Birthday, and congrats on the new house.

The only thing I can add (and I think the story is) that Alessia Cara (a Canadian pop singer) was asked by Metallica to cover Enter Sandman for the Blacklist album. Alessia wasn't fully comfortable covering a metal song on her own and asked The Warning to do it with her. They arranged and recorded it in a week. They still play Enter Sandman at their own shows and if you'd like to see how they do it now, you should watch the version from the same show as Disciple.

    • @RipThru
      @RipThru 8 місяців тому +2

@@reaper_fbb7052 Reaper is right. And it would be great if you analyzed how they did their rendition. It is definitely Enter Sandman and yet, so different at the same time. From what I have heard and believe, they opened it up to create space for Alessia Cara’s vocals, moved things around but retained the chord structures and made it more haunting and powerful at the same time. Certainly one of the best remakes (not really even a cover) of a song I’ve heard in a very long time.

(not to say JW missed it) It amuses me how many reactors will say "She sings so well while playing" and "That was a great drum fill" but somehow that massive fill while singing has yet to be pointed out singularly; This isn't to say that people don't notice, but nobody has been explicit about it. First couple of times I was just loving the song as a whole, and how it punches you in the face. Not to mention focusing on the video or stage performance as well. It's a lot to take in. I feel that really good songs or performances make you discover more details the more you listen. And since drummer lead singers is so rare, maybe it could take even pros a while to really register what the heck that is actually happening. For an amateur like me, even more so.

For this Aug 2022 concert they was 17-19-21. They was 15-17-19 when they recorded this song off their 3rd full LP ERROR, but 1st LP under the Label Lava. The mainstream industry platforms call them ALT Rock. They do not know them like TWA does. I consider them Hard Rock, sprinkled with every other Genre out there. Classically trained Pianist's, they dabble and dip their toes into everything. They use click tracks, and some small amounts of backing tracks for instruments they played and recorded themselves. I only know of one song they use them for vocals, and that's from a guest singer on their Re-imagined Enter Sandman song with Canadian pop singer Alessia Cara that is on the 30th Anniversary Blacklist LP. Pau uses Midi Pedals to start & stop any track used, and why the laptop is on her side. Their first 3 albums they made their studio work mimic their live performances as best they could. When you hear them play Live, you know the songs from the studio versions, and can sing along head bang, & jump in time........every time. Playing Live is their Super Power. Check out more from that same concert. 22 songs in total!

These sisters have always written with an eye to playing live. They also have utilized many of the audio techniques from past years, like panning the guitar left and right while using a delay and octave pedal to differentiate the sound coming from each side. They are so sweet in person, they have documented their whole life on Utube and Patreon and interacted with fans since they were very young. I think that you will find that most long time fans love them more as people than as musicians, performers and composers ( you just saw how good they are) and if you do decide to dig into thier evolution you will likely feel the same way.

LIke you I became obsessed with Jinjer and I love this band for many of the same reasons even thought they are stylistically completely different. Both are three piece (instrumental) and use vocals and interesting mix of meter, chord progression and tension to fill out the sound. I think the thing that I love the most is their passion for the music (same for Jinjer). Best bands I've heard in years (i'm over 60 and a former jazz snob)

Been a while since I have seen any of your videos. First came across your channel (perhaps an older one?) with your discovery of Nightwish.
Welcome to The Warning. Three sisters from Monterey Mexico who started playing together when they were children and who have now been making great hard music for more than a decade. With three studio albums, several live concert videos, and a new album on the way, we think there is plenty of material for you to choose from.
    This three-piece is:
    Daniela (Dany, 24yo, guitar)
Paulina (Pau, as in POW-er, 22yo, drums)
Alejandra (Ale, pronounced AH-lay, 19yo, bass)
All three sisters sing and all are classically trained on piano.
As you can see, live is their magic sauce. They put out hella noise for only three people. The Warning have a sound that is both new and familiar. It is certainly hard rock, but clearly influenced by their love of classic rock, metal, punk, K-pop, indie, grunge, funk, and many other genres including classical music. But they have taken those influences and forged a sound that is uniquely their own, and you know that it is them. At the same time simple and complex.
What does it sound like to me? Refreshing. A sound that has caught my ear and made me interested in rock again after 25+ years of the same old playlist. While together their combined ages are about the same as mine, their musical maturity is exceptionally high.
Need another suggestion? From The Warning’s UA-cam page you might choose from:
    - MORE or EVOLVE from the MTV VMAs
    - CHOKE, ANIMOSITY, 23, or any other song from this 2022 show at Teatro Metropolitan CDMX (aka Mexico City)
    - The official music video for XXI CENTURY BLOOD
    - SURVIVE from their 2017 TedX talk
    - The official music video for their new release S!CK
There are really no bad choices. They are something special live. Their energy, charisma, and musicality really shine when in front of an audience. In the past two years I have flown all over North America and seen them 7 times. Can’t wait for the chance to travel and see them again. The only other band I have traveled like this for in more than 40 years of concert going was Rush.

That strange E-chord divides the chorus into 2 very different parts with the second part only becoming possible due to that surprising chord, since the second part starts on A. I guess it was that tritone chord that made me a fan when I first heard the song.

Exactly! You don't expect to go from Bb to E (and the verse/chorus key switch from Dm to A) but damn they nail it! (And Pau doesn't like major keys?!)

Excellent breakdown! First time I've seen a reactor figure out the guitar parts on the spot for this song. Great technical explanation of what's going on musically, and going over their chord and note choices. I know Dany uses a harmonizer and octave pedal on her Kemper profiler, but not sure exactly what she uses on this song. So she could be playing some octaves, or the pedalboard is doing it. I see @concept226 has already provided the link to her gear breakdown if that interests you.

The Warning is a once in a generation phenomenon. I flew down from Portland Oregon with my daughter to see them live over 2 months ago in Tijuana where they started with Disciple. Ale’s bass kicked me in the chest and knocked me over, then Pau beat me over the head with her drums and then Dany finished me off by slaying me with her guitar and vocals. Once you go down The Warning rabbit hole there's no way out, like Black Holes (which is one of my favorite songs of theirs).🤘⚡

I think you may be right about Dany using that lower 5th, because the PRS she's playing is in E standard tuning, per her DTB gear rundown video. She does use drop D for some songs, but the lion's share of their music is in E standard. Aside from their musical prowess, they also have spines of steel when it comes to their artistic integrity. They were approached at a very young age by the likes of Disney, who thought they were dumb kids who could be strong armed into questionable contracts and then dressed up in a corporate-tailored image. One smug scout asked them if they'd rather play in front of 12 people, or 12,000, to which Pau (Paulina) replied that they would rather play the music they love in front of 12 people than play music they hate in front of 12,000. They did eventually sign with Lava Records, but only after months of negotiations that resulted in a contract allowing them to maintain creative control. That commitment to being true to themselves and their artistry resonates with their fans, and it'll be a key ingredient to keeping them relevant far into the future.

    • @sebrina8057
      @sebrina8057 8 місяців тому +5

Adding to the DTB bit, she also uses an octave pedal to fill out their sound. I've also noticed that when she's soloing and Ale is mimicking the rhythm, Pau uses her floor toms quite often to fill in the low end. Not all the time, but often enough that it stands out as a bit of that sophistication he mentioned in their writing. It's a big part of why they don't sound like a typical trio.

Glad to see you got around to The Warning. I have always enjoyed your break downs of songs, even though I am not much of a musician myself I appreciate the demosntrations and analysis of how the songs come together.
Not as intricate as a lot of band you react to, but they are great at what they do and add exactly what they need to the song. Not many solo's, as you pointed out a lot of the intricacy is in the vocal melodies and harmonies and the bands super power is really in the vocals and harmony (familial voices have that unique way of blending). But they are all very competent on their instruments and all trained in classical piano. Pau (the drummer) comes up with the basic chords and melodies for most of the songs on the piano.
They each have a quick gear run down on the 'Digital Tour Bus' channel. The videos are fairly short, but they give you a feel for the bands professionalism and each sisters individual personality. This is Dani's video - ua-cam.com/video/kMPWxinxmoI/v-deo.html

Enjoyed your reaction, but really enjoyed your analysis of the song. The Warning is one of my favorite rock bands at the moment, and an absolute "breath of fresh air" in the genre. All three of them are obviously talented musicians, but what really makes them special is their vocals (especially their vocal harmonies) and their top-tier songwriting. It was really interesting to me hearing you point out all the really smart songwriting choices they made throughout this song.

They use backing tracks, but primarily for instruments they don’t have on stage, piano, etc. they use split signals with harmonizers and octave dividers to thicken and faten up their sound. They run over the specifics on their tech videos. The reason the come off so tight and professional sounding is due to having been a performing as a band for 10 years. The Bassist Ale, pronounced Al-Lay or by many fans as Al- Lee, was 9 years old when she started with the band and playing Festivals by 11.

Their reactions are usually short and sweet, and those of us from TWA are still happy to "like and subscribe" because we have a passion for this band! You, Sir, kept me to the end, and though I can't play a lick on any instrument, I loved your song breakdown and reference to "old bands" as to the "flavors" of their song writing. At the same time She is fighting for her insanity as a dark entity tries to take over her mind and body. Enjoy. A good song to start with is the intro song to the album. I know this is an older post... but as you mentioned, the backstory is SO AMAZING, but of the recent history of the band... They waste no opportunity. The Sisters needed very little help with stage presence and technique, but they have undoubtedly used each tour they were on with headliners to soak in anything and everything they could. They are not of MY generation, but their music has me captivated and they are reinvigorating rock. They are precise, they have fun with what they are doing and while following them via the internet on their current Euro Solo Tour, they don't let any conditions hamper what they give to their audience and fans. I LOVE The Warning!! As of a month ago when I finally found them, they are my favorite band. Thanks for taking the time to react to them and help spread the word of The Warning.

This song is about how social media controls us with fabricated info. Pau, the drummer, got inspired about the main riff in a Canadian supermarket in 2019. She came home, composed the 1st draft on her piano including the bass intro and called her sisters. They were 19, 17 & 14 then.
That is why Dany, guitarist, starts the song as an antagonist with "The sun is YOUR enemy today" while Pau picks it up as a disciple in the 2nd verse with "The sun is MY enemy today". The sisters trade off lead vocals as demanded by the script. You can make out the difference in their vocal textures. Ale, the bassist, mainly harmonizes in the lower frequencies with infrequent falsettos as required by the song.
The Warning are masters in composing in minor scales. Quite often they introduce a full sequence of major chords for the same verse to break the monotony. And that downward bend in vocals here is typically The Warning.
Every song from The Warning needs to be reviewed with the lyrics, innate message & back story, if available. Because they are the most intellectual band to emerge in decades. Their profound metaphorical songwriting on contemporary society sets them apart from the crowd.
You can always read what the band says about their songs during your reviews. Their ages at the time of composing a song & playing it in public should be noted too in reviews.
Among their 3 full albums & 2 EPs the girls have published a concept album in 2018 called Queen of the Murder Scene where they have mused over unrequited love, death, self harm, suicide & lunacy. Pau was in middle school going through her emo phase when she tabled the 1st draft in front of her sisters. Just to keep it in context, five decades back Roger Waters dealt with death, lunacy & depression in The Dark Side of the Moon.
Dive into their rabbit hole that stretches back more than a decade to when they were playing classical piano as 6-8 year olds. Its all on YT. They have practically grown up on social media. After watching your reaction I am confident that you won't be disappointed.
