- Here's a rundown of how I use backing tracks + click track live with the Alesis Strike Multipad, as well as using the Xenyx 802 as a personal mixer.
If you're working in a wireless IEM setup, you won't need the mixer.

Thanks for the great video. I'm a drummer and thinking about getting an Alesis multi pad to do the same as you.
Is there any reason you don't run a stereo backing track?
Can the pads be linked together to play multiple tracks at the same time? (pad1 is backing track, pad2 is click track)
Can you send the pads to separate outputs? (backing track on pad1 to stereo out, click on pad2 to another output)
Thanks from New Zealand!
Hey, thanks! Glad you found it helpful.
1) I don’t run a stereo tracks for a few reasons, mostly because of simplicity. Having a mastered tracking panned R and the click panned L makes routing easier for the band & FOH. I use the multipad in smaller venues, where you only get a quick line check (if one at all). And, ideally, the FOH would want to mix every mono stem to their liking - having stereo (I think) would be over processing.
2) Yep, you can pair pads to play when one is triggered! Press the “Pad” button on the right side - then the “Group” option.
Hey man! Could you walk me through how you set your pad up with ProTools? I’m trying to do something similar with studio one.
I’ve been using Studio One too! What specifically are you looking for? I just bounce the tracks to my usb
Oh man. I was looking at controlling the DAW with the pad while using the pad for sounds also
@@coltonhuntmusic ahhhh I gotcha. There is a midi port, so maybe that could work? That’s a great question - I’ll have to do some exploring
@@erikfoxdrumsso it works in Ableton but I can’t figure out how to assign the Alesis pads to control functions in Studio One. There’s a “learn midi” function, but it’s not picking up the pads, however in detects the pads as a keyboard. Their own support team couldn’t help either so I guess I’m using Ableton or just the laptop live. 😂
@@coltonhuntmusic thanks for the update!
