Wasn't able to watch the live stream, but caught up with the video now. :) Looking forward to what's to come on this channel! I'm hoping to reach the point where I could travel most of the year while working solely on my own projects rather than having tons of freelance work taking my time and preventing me from putting my all into what I love doing most - UA-cam, blog, photography, etc.

hi jordan! you said quality comes before quantity...do you think people can be successfull starting with only 1.5 days per week on YT? from idea to a finished single video. thinking of the pareto rule...or is this too less passion for doing this job?

Don't be ashamed of your M&M preferences! I like brown M&Ms best because they look more like natural chocolate, even though I know that's silly, LOL. Mostly your passive income ideas are not useful for me because I'm not a UA-camr, but ahh, I have some videos (not on this account) where I just post me drawing maps. I dunno if it'll ever amount to any money but there's only a very few people who do fantasy map videos, I'm just not much of a content creator. Right now I've made $200 of passive income in April (not from the videos... hey, that's almost at your original goal of $10 a month, LOL, I'll be there by the end of the year) and I aspire for more but it's just all about figuring out how to apply your brand to opportunities. I draw fantasy maps. The niche was an accident, though I don't usually regret it, except for when I want to draw people. I would definitely recommend to all newcomers to pick a niche and drive hard into it. In any digital income stream, it's always easier to charge more if you're one of a handful. I have to contend with a lot of excellent newcomers and the onslaught of programs that automate what I do. I'm hoping that I'll be able to beef up the stream of passive income I have, and expand into some new arenas and make it actually viable to start travelling at all. I can't do that when I work on this enormous beast of an art tablet, which is truly excellent and weighs like, 100 pounds, LOL. To just need a video camera.
So there's a bit of an overlap where, say, we both create stock resources, but I'm not much of a video creator and I have no aspirations to be a video blogger. I feel extremely uncomfortable speaking, let alone randomly and into a camera. I like the idea of making stock footage without speaking. I suppose that's always a possibility. Oh yeah, and I hate social media! Tumblr? Hate it. Reddit? Eehhh. Twitter? Ehhhhh... yeah I don't like em. How on earth does one make it as a passive income generator when also loathing what social media's turned into?! I didn't think of Pinterest, and gonna be square with you, Discord is a relentless source of commissions, for the minimal amount of participation I put in there, I get a shocking amount of money-making response. I hate Fiverr too, having worked on there for a bit of time, but I love the idea of news press releases and not having to touch social media and blogs and stuff myself to get some attention. I'm letting a blogger interview me and I'm explaining how I do my work, and I'm letting a writer who I drew a map for interview me, I like that better than having to do the social media work myself. I'm just participating in theirs. :)
The one real overlap is the necessity of tenacity. I don't have a lot of that. It makes it hard. I get by with the non-passive side of my income (commissions) but breaking into a passive stream was very important for me. I found one, but I know I need to diversify a little bit more than just tokens for RPGs. I feel like I'll need to have quadrupled my passive income before I could even think of travelling while doing it. Of course I can see overlaps while I travel... for example, many years ago I took a stock photo set at Alcatraz and that still gets attention.
I'd like to see information on your video editing and clip management workflows. That's always interesting to me, knowing how people perform computer based tasks and minimize the hassle.
If you're reading this, I'd recommend posting a few free stock images on DeviantArt. Request that people credit your channel. I posted some fantasy map making stock there long ago and it still results in people visiting my portfolio when they give up on making their own maps. You might find you get people excited about the trip the photo comes from, and then they come watch the videos, resulting in you getting ad-revenue over here from the drive. You could also share your paid video stock links and see some overlap in traffic. Stock art posted there can result in views for over a decade in my experience, it was one of the better decisions I made starting off. I'm not popular there, but my stock is, and I have my main link there for everyone who gives up on making a nice result. Heh. Since you visit some spectacular sites it would be easy for you to pick and choose a handful of nice shots to share for free use, that would then result in an echo of traffic across the internet from the resulting credits. I think you might also find it not useless to make an ArtStation account, and sell resources through there as well as collect your projects. They have a thriving video game creator and 3D type market, you could sell 3D panoramas of skies from locations you visit for one thing.
Anyway, what you do is real cool, it's nice that you've shared what works so openly, I do hope someday I can make travelling work for me. There are so many places I want to go. But being self-employed is more important to me and what I've made work requires my desk space. Well, we'll see. Good luck with the separate channel. Makes sense, I saw it annoyed some people that you talked about money so much, but I appreciated it, even if there's not too much overlap in what we do, just the aims. Cheers.
